    Hello, all! The video is finally here. Final Fantasy IV is regarded by many as a special game for countless reasons. That in mind, I was excited to finally play it for myself and provide my thoughts on it for you all. This is my biggest project by far, and I hope you all enjoy and find it worth the wait. Thanks, as always, for all the support!

    Haven't finished the video yet, but being familiar with the game, I was mostly looking forward to seeing how you would address the fact that your character-naming scheme from the first three games may not work well for this entry. (The first three titles have exactly four renamable characters, as well as other qualities which set them apart.) Well worth the wait. Have a wonderful day.

    I've always had mixed feelings about this one. The story and characters are a huge step up from the ones that came before, yet I always found the gameplay to be a bit annoying. Counters are common enough that they feel like interruptions rather than a fun mechanic to work around, especially since you rarely have a workaround and just need to face tank whatever counter the enemy throws your way. Same kinda problem with 9 in my eyes, but I'm sure you'll get to that one eventually. Still do really appreciate the newcomer viewpoint you have to these games, considering how many times I've played through the first 6 over the years. It's refreshing. Also yeah what the hell is with the fonts in these remakes.

    • @clickingaming
      @clickingaming  Před rokem +1

      The fonts are awful 🤣
      But this is interesting to read. So to you it feels more like a rough implementation of the active ideas rather than a good one? Do you think 5 and 6 do it better then? I really appreciated the challenge that counters and the more interesting enemies offered, but I can see that getting annoying if that's not what you're looking for!

    • @ManiManiPlays
      @ManiManiPlays Před rokem +1

      @@clickingaming I think I just get annoyed by counters being TOO prevalent. It's probably a pet peeve. It feels like half the enemies in 4 have some sort of counter, and it's often times an instant kill or some status effect that can be difficult or expensive to counter. 5 and 6 both have enemies with pretty brutal counters, but they tend to be fewer and farther between.

    • @clickingaming
      @clickingaming  Před rokem

      Noted! So it sounds like they've balanced it out in the later games then?

      @@clickingaming For the most part. A lot rarer, but tends to be pretty brutal when it happens.

      @@clickingamingI just started this game around the end of May and finished my playthrough last week. What a masterpiece it is. By the way, there was this CZcamsr that did a retrospective video on Final Fantasy IV as well as numerous other games in the series. Apparently it’s speculated that this games plot borrowed from an underrated classic film called The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen. There are a lot of bits of evidence to back up this man’s claims. Both Baron Munchausen and Cecil end up being attacked by a sea monster, they both head to the underworld and they both head to the moon. Although the alien that Cecil meets isn’t a giant despot who looks like Robin Williams. 😂 I also heard that Golbez essentially was inspired off of Darth Vader (one of cinema’s most well known villains).
      Sorry if this is a lot to read.

    Am I the only person who doesn't like the active battle system? I prefer taking my time and it feeling like actually turn based. It should be a settings choice in these games. This is one of the reasons I like the dragon quest games a bit more. And no wait system is not a real answer to this issue.

    • @clickingaming
      @clickingaming  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I really like the ATB but it's fair to prefer traditional turn-based. Even modern turn-based RPGs like Sea of Stars or Chained Echoes have a more traditional approach so it's definitely still preferred!
      I don't think they could have made it optional in FFIV though because a lot of the challenge is built around the system. It would create a weird imbalance.The game having ATB isn't really an 'issue' to me it's more of personal preference. Just like how some people dislike CRPGs over first or third person ones.

      @@clickingaming true it isn't a deal breaker I just don't like feeling rushed lol. Either way I will take it over everything turning into an action RPG lately. Ff16 was a pretty big let down to me.
