- Me and my friends @rewriting-history and @Helmetorian rank dictators in a tier list according to how good of a dictator they were. And the more you are worse and selfish the higher you rank. In this part of the series we rank: Bashar al-Assad (president of Syria), Saparmurat Niyazov (former president of Turkmenistan), Hideki Tojo (former PM of Japan), Mikhail Gorbachev (former president of the USSR), Adolf Hitler (former chancellor of Germany) and António de Oliveira Salazar (former president of Portugal).

Damn the video a lot better than what I expected! Great editing, you made it very interesting!
I could not do it without my friends 😉
You called Switzerland a great country and yet you wanted to partition it with Videntis and Marklin
@@TheMandalorianKaiser in reality I wanted all of the country. I should have asked to get it while they got Scandinavia, but I forgot. Doesn't matter, it was a great video regardless
Part 2 coming soon!

Salazar was deeply religious, but he wasn't a priest. He was an economics professor at the University of Coimbra. Academically, he was probably the most accomplished of the 20th century European dictators (only Fr. Tiso, the actual dictator-priest [of Slovakia], could compare on that front having a doctorate in theology) since he got a doctorate in economics and had published articles and wrote 2 books before becoming dictator.
This is really interesting! Sad that we didn't know he was so highly educated otherwise we would have put him lower on the list lol. As far as the priest thing a did a quick google search : "Salazar considered becoming a priest, but like many who entered the seminary very young, he decided not to proceed to the priesthood after receiving holy orders. He went to Coimbra in 1910 during the first years of the Portuguese First Republic to study law at the University of Coimbra"(sniped from Wikipedia). So I am assuming Rewriting History misremembered the above mentioned or got confused with Tiso(should have put him on the list).
Thank you for commenting! I relay appreciate the info!
