  • We decided for our main holiday this year to go to the Outer Hebrides!
    Our epic adventure sees us going from the Midlands to Ullapool, then to Stornoway in Lewis, then Harris, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, Barra, Eriskay and Vatersay. We come home via Skye and Fort William.
    In this third episode, see us travel around The Uists, Berneray and Eriskay and explore with amazing scenery and attractions.
    We had a night here that the van got a HUGE soaking overnight, so see how the ISO-TOP held up (or not). We also have more 'oil too high' news and action to report !
    We wanted to make sure there is campervan specific content in these, so you'll see campsites, hear of our woes(!) and our great times.

    Thanks for the videos guys. Found your channel randomly whilst browsing for camper van content (subscribed now). Hoping to buy one next year and your content definitely gets me more excited about the prospect. Have fun 😀

    Hubby and I got our VW Campervan in February after waiting 12 months for delivery from Germany (we live in Australia). 3 weeks after hubby driving the van he filled the fuel tank with petrol instead of diesel!!!!. Had to have it drained and flushed, new filter etc. I could have cried.! Something he will never forget or be allowed to forget lol!

    We highly recommend the CaliCap from Germany. Always a dry roof top after (heavy) rain and good isolation.
    ❤️ your video’s.

    Very enjoyable. Not been there for almost 50 years. Last time was on honeymoon in a tent. My the Balranald campground has changed. Was just a field when I was there. Oh. Don’t plan on doing anything on a Sunday. Even the garages closed for fuel in those days 😱

      Well.... we did say on the video 'or is it'! Seriously though, more to come on the oil level saga... we're doing a separate video on it explaining the issue, how to solve it and how to prevent it.

      Well - we have a rainbow screen outer wrap (had it for our T6 too) and it is THE BEST protection you can have. We have tested our wrap in 30+mph driving rain and wind in Jersey in our T6 not a drop came in. Just a bit of a pain to carry with you and then a pain to put on - especially in wind! Good luck on your first trip, let us know how it goes :)

    We just returned from the OH. Ullapool to Stornaway, then down to Barra and across to Oban - blue skies and sunshine most of the way. The sun turns the sea turquoise.

    Hi guys thanks for another great video.
    Do you think the leak occurred because the isotop was in contact with the outer pop top skin? Does the pop top leak without the isotop in place?
    Thanks in advance Jim

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  Před 2 lety

      Yes I do think it is because of the canvas and isotop touching - mostly due to the wind blowing the canvas in hard all night. Haven't ever used this canvas without the isotop in it. Fitted from brand new.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  Před 2 lety +1

      Erm.... The top bed will take 150kg (according to the book) which Sarah and I more than likely exceed, but we're not 34st combined though. I think you'd need to be quite careful!

    • @VikingPhil9
      @VikingPhil9 Před 2 lety

      Hi Gill. I have a T6.1 California, same as these guys. The VW booklet says the weight limit for the upper bed is 150 Kg.

    Love the updates, we have an Ocean arriving in a few weeks and love to relax watching TV, need a smart one as netflix etc are important, any advice or recommendations please, thanks

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  Před 2 lety

      Congratulations on your incoming Ocean! We use an iPad for Netflix and any TV we might want, we just tend to stream it via tethering from our phones as we have an unlimited data plan. iPad Netflix also allows you to download a load of episodes to view offline too 👍

    • @adrianlee9846
      @adrianlee9846 Před 2 lety +1

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  Před 2 lety

      No problem, we use the big screen 12.9” one and it is just about big enough for us. We used to have a 12v TV but sold it because it just took up too much room in the van!

    Had same oil issue on new T6.1 - reading forums suggests there is a software update to address it? Opening the bonnet resets the warning light & oil ok but annoying - interested to know if your oil change has resolved the issue

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi - no, it didn't solve it. Basically the oil level sensor needs to see a big enough difference to clear the warning, then the oil can be topped back up. The software update (from what I've read) is just to make the oil level sensor do this with less of difference in oil level needing to be registered to cancel the warning. We're going to do a video on why it does it, how to fix it (yourself) and then how to prevent it happening. All without going to the dealer for any software. Our dealer is over 100 mile round trip so we decided to sort ourselves!

    Good to see the isotope in action …do you still think it is better than an external cover - what are the pros & cons?

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  Před 2 lety

      Well, in 95% of situations yes, we think it is better than an external wrap. For the 5% - ie driving wind and rain all night, the external wrap type cover is better. The trade off though with the external wrap (size, difficulty in fitting each time etc) don't outweigh the iso-top.

    • @stephensellick3642
      @stephensellick3642 Před 2 lety +1

      @@CampervanTime - thanks, so does the isotope stay in place when the roof is down?

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes and no! The very front part needs to be removed before closing the roof - it zips in on both sides and then velcos at the top and bottom. This is only the case on the Californias with the big opening front canvas, not the ones where the front canvas is fixed, where it can be left in.

      This video was mostly shot with a iPhone XS in 1080p, but now we have moved on to use a Sony ZV1, shooting in 4K but then outputting in 1080p as it allows us to crop the shots if we need to for any reason 👍.
