  • The moulting season is now over for my birds, so there'll be fewer videos! there are 2 major moulting seasons every year, one in the spring for lighter summer feathers, and one in the fall for thicker winter down.
    Ava was a little cranky today so I cut her preening session short. She's been flying up to and biting at the drywall near the fire sprinklers...so I have to figure out how to keep her from drenching us.

    I am obsessed with all your vids. They have all the satisfaction of pimple popping vids but without the grossness and with adorable birds.
    I am so sorry that people keep jumping in to accuse you of hurting your birds that clearly love and trust you instead of like. Googling how pin feathers work. Or even realizing if this bird was genuinely upset she could just leave.
    Keep up the good work and give your birds all our love.

      I was feeling down for a little bit, and I saw the bright side of things: while sometimes people say things like what you mentioned, it's a good reminder for me to keep being cautious, and maybe they're looking out for my birds, so that's still nice of them :)

      New feathers grow in, in a clear keratin sheath.when the feather is done growing,it turns chalky white,meaning the new feather is done growing. They can't reach the ones on their heads n neck,in the wild other birds will preen them,but if u have one as a pet,u have to be their flock mate,and preen them off so the new feather emerges. If u leave them there, it becomes very itchy and irritating to your bird. Thank u for my Ted talk 😂

    • @leolion3323
      @leolion3323 Před 2 měsíci

      Hon tar bara hand om fågeln såsom en annan fågel hade gjort i det vilda, detta är ett socialt beteende som ofta är skönt och uppskattas av fågeln. Skalet på de färdiga nya fjädrarna bör åka av förr eller senare när de rör på sig ändå, men när hon hjälper till gör det att fågeln slipper ha kliande fjädrar på sig onödigt länge. Pincetter är lite mer vassa och därför mer riskabelt än att bara använda fingrar men det är också mer effektivt och likt en fågels näbb. Fågeln må vara obekväm ibland om människan råkar röra vid fjädrar som inte än har vuxit färdigt, men hon hade flugit iväg om hon inte tyckte att detta var värt det.
      Snälla läs på nästa gång innan du anklagar någon för djurplågeri.
