  • Today I fire up the new Husqvarna 545 pro saw and cut up some fresh oak pieces from my last load out of the woods. The saw tip bound up part way through a cut and locked up good. This has never happened to me in all my years of cutting.
I start making progress on my new wood stacking area and cut a few trees down to help clear up some space. I get the big pile of compost moved to the woods and split a few more totes worth in the dark before my new ruggedmade splitter arrives.

    Great video 👍🏻🌲🌳🪵
Looks like you were very busy up there... I thought you were going to relax on Friday to get ready for the 16hr days ! !

Dusty, definitely look at the 562XP. I got one through Ebels for a decent price ($600 or $700). It's a great step between the 550 and the 372, though I wish it was a little bit lighter.

Dang! That’s actually what I was hoping to get but this is the biggest one that Lowe’s had and I had a $450 in store card to spend. I do have a 372 XP and a 450 rancher but that one is in the shop because I dropped a log on it. This will become my main saw. I like that the chain is thinner than my big saw, it really rips!

Was going to say it is extremely rare for a saw to lock-up. Usually is just a chip of wood or bark that jams up my saws. Wonder how the 545 compares to my 550xp. Same saw, same engine size, only difference is the 550xp has 0.5hp more. Bet you love the auto-tune carb. Love your "many hours later" bit in the video.

I wonder if it has anything to do with not having a grease-able tip? This is my first saw with auto tune and it revs very fast and sounds amazing. Zero hesitation. It really is like a sports car…light and snappy. I have a 450 rancher that I also really like, but I dropped a log on that the other day and it’s in the shop. My 372 do is a tank so I don’t use that for everyday stuff

@@BlueyesBelow, no idea on the tip. I can't remember the last time I had a bar without a greasable tip.

I’ve had to buy 2 new bars in the last few weeks and then this new saw came with it as well…they all are the X Force versions, even from a pro saw shop. Not sure I like it, but we will see if it continues. Hopefully not

@@BlueyesBelow, my 550xp has a greasable tip so no idea why yours doesn't as they are basically the same saw.
