We recently moved out of Isla. I don't know when the centro street scenes were shot, but they are only that empty at 6am. Now, it's over the top with golf carts, people, scooters etc. NOT a peaceful place. Also, rents are much higher than mentioned in this video. Beautiful? Absolutely. But expensive and overcrowded.
I'm curious if you don't mind. Did you find somewhere cheaper to live in Mexico? I plan to retire in Mexico and looking for affordable spots. Thank you
"Isla," as I call it, is so beautiful. I love it with all my heart and soul. When I first started visiting, it WAS affordable and had a relaxed vibe. Now that the secret is out, prices have really gone up, and it has become a bit over run with tourists. Be aware that rental and purchasing prices are not what they used to be. Even so, my heart will always be with Isla. ❤❤
Thanks for the feedback. Personally, I know a lot of people that love living in Isla Mujeres and aren't having such a problem finding reasonable rentals. But you have to come willing to do some homework and know what is reasonable And what is inflated . Thanks for watching!
It’s Mexico’s Key West. I rent a 1 bedroom year round for $400 a month and use as my vacation home. For the price of a weeks vacation in Key West I can have my own vacation home in paradise for a year.
Nice! I'd love to interview you and share your story with my audience if you're open to a livestream? Send me an email if you are info@mexicorelocationguide.com
I was on the island over 15 yrs ago it has grown and changed a lot from what I'm seeing in this video
We spent many winters on Isla before retiring to La Paz. I really love Isla. It is our happy place… for vacation
I've lived on Isla Mujeres full-time for almost 13 years. Love it! I'm an anthropologist who also sells real estate on the island. There are 17 named neighborhoods, all with varying rental or purchase prices. As for hospitals or medical care. All they can do for you in an emergency is stabilize you enough to get you to Cancun.
My husband and i love Isla. We have been going there for some time. Beautiful Island.
Your videos are amazingly filled with lots of details. Muchas gracias!
loved renting a scooter to go around the island!
Yea the scooters are also a great option for getting around the island :) thanks for watching
Video quality seems much better.. good work 👌
We’ve visited Isla Mujeres a couple of times. We had a fun time there. North Beach is fantastic! Personally myself I would never live on an island, any island, but it’s a great place to visit.
We ❤ isla, I’m pleasantly surprised how affordable it is since it’s definitely very touristy and has an awesome beach😊
It is not affordable anymore
Awesome video. Very informative as usual. Keep them coming and thanks😊
More to come!
I visited once, and really enjoyed it! I hope they need a programmer there!
I would move tomorrow.
Isla is a great place - affordable ……hmmmm
affordability is very subjective. That's why I include prices :)
@@MexicoRelocationGuide true and thanks for the all the good info / content
I've been there twice, very nice small island
Well done video. Like the other comments, I didn't realize that Isla could be so affordable as a resident. We are looking forward to our next trip in March 2024!
Nice! You can certainly live comfortably in Isla on less. The biggest thing will be finding a rental that isn;t overpriced. If you'd like our tips, I suggest signing up for our free email series bit.ly/3rKUCYH
I fell in love with Isla 10 years ago and have been going back every year, however, it has become so overrun with tourists and I believe the infrastructure is not meant for so many people and the prices have skyrocketed. Due to this, I have had to find a new Shangri-La :(
When you moved off rentals you stopped saying what the US$ equivalent was in prices. It was difficult to follow then because I was trying to figure out what the numbers were in US$.
puenta sur had great turtles in the sea
Definately ready to pay a good, long visit.
great. check out our relocation tours

About the school system for kids we have a six-year-old and her education is very important to us
cancun or Playa del Carmen would be a better option in my humble opinion
Your videos always have the most amazing content! Incredibly helpful, beautiful sights and scenes, and your very pleasant narration Mariana!😊
It's Playa Norte, not Punta Norte. The neighborhood in the North end of the island is called "Centro". Also, about 20,000 people live in the municipality, which also includes a much larger area on the mainland (we call it the continental zone). Only about 14,000 live on the island.
Thanks!
OMG! I think this is my place to move to. Ive never been there. I've only heard of it. I was originally thinking of Playa Del Carmen. I think this is simpler which I love. THANK YOU.
I went snorkeling at that second biggest reef off of Maroma Beach 2023 and the reef was mostly dead. It was shocking.
Hurricane season begins in June not August 😅
I used to there 34 years ago on the party boat out of Cancun. There was very little there then😊 a hotel and a couple of places to eat. WOW things have changed!!
it’s def changed since 34 years ago. thanks for watching. I’m glad you have good memories 😊
@@MexicoRelocationGuide I have my ❤️ set on Huatulco. But this video was making me waffle a little!!
The same with me. I was there in 1991 and 2020. Massive chances in that time.
Remember the carribien carnival trip
Gracias Mariana for more good information I’m still working trying to save money for my eventual retirement but Isla Mujeres seems like a very viable option thank you or Gracias
Best of luck! thank you for watching

Nice to visit but Never Live There!!!
❤I want to move here!!!
Please dont!😉
As always, I really enjoyed this video. Outstanding research!!! Thank you.
Please produce a video regarding Ensenada.
@@dhi2006why?
Sounds like the perfect place to retire. Thanks!
What about the school system if you have kids?
isla mujeres may not be the best option for you if you’re looking for reputable schools for children
Hmm!!! I would like to go to la isla mujer and explore the island and the housing for possible retirement place. Need to see if heat to humid. Is the land in punta sur for possible construction??
Yes, you can buy a lot and build on punta sur
It was extremely humid while I was there in July/August a few years ago. Constant perspiring when outdoors during the day. I like humidity, so it didn't bother me. It was more humid than Hawai'i Island. Hope this is helpful. :)
@@MexicoRelocationGuide Lovely video! Thank you for highlighting Isla Mujeres. It is beautiful there. It was quite peaceful when I was there, but locals said it was 'empty' due to covid and usually much busier. Can you please share if it is legal to buy a lot and use an RV temporarily and/or permanently while building? If so, can you share shipping companies to get vehicles on the island? Muchas gracias!
@@l.a.keller yes it help me out, thank you
I spent about 10 days in Isla Mujeres and hung out with the locals. Many of them are tired of the noise coming from the houses built by foreigners in the past 10 years or so, and who have parties day and night. I have witnessed such occurrence on several occasions, and I am absolutely not a fan. The north side is very crowded and there’s no peace there. The island is becoming more expensive because of the tourists.
The island also has a big issue with lose trash on the streets and in parks, due to the fact that it’s not easy for them to export the trash outside the island, but also due to corrupted politicians, which is basically the case all over Mexico.
The island has beautiful nature, but the entire area is turning into a crowded party place. Not a fan.
Thanks for your feedback
