Keralis's "I'm just left handed" and "freak show" comments were absolutely the crowning moment of Mumbo's episode.
Also right at the end where they mention how they're learning way too much about each other this season. And Joe's "that's what the mute pedal is for"
@@lisahenry20 I need to figure out how the mute pedal thing works and see if it can work to mute the mic directly... The only thing keeping me from attempting to stream (besides inconsistent schedule, which streamers live and die by schedule consistency), is the fact that I cough a lot, something I can edit out of videos but can't do shirt about live.

I love that in Mumbo’s weird controls competition thing he was desperately trying to convince people that everyone else was weird, including False whose only crime was using the industry standard inventory button.
Or at least the Minecraft Alpha standard button (I too have played since the days of Seecret Friday Updates). I think a lot of games now use _tab_ as inventory? Minecraft's literally the only one that uses _E_ for inventory though, most games have E as the _Use/Interact_ key (which... would actually be right-click in MC? since Place Block is also Use...)
False and Gem isn't that weird tbh. I play Skyrim and minecraft and every time I switch I press the wrong buttons for the inventories... BUT the others tho... can't say for sure xD
@@saruwatarisa I recently went back to playing MC, and kept swapping the inventory bind between [I] and [Tab] because muscle memory for different games kept conflicting...
Cleo made a community post explaining her "boom mic" situation, bringing her couch gaming setup back into the realm of "Comfy AF." And inverted controls just make sense if you did flight sims before FPS games.
Etho and Mumbo are the only freaks of the bunch, and I will die on that hill.

I think the ones who realize it just use his counterfeit diamonds in his shops.
Cleo accidentally did it the first time and Gem noticed it immediately. (Playing with the extra info that reveals durability also reveals the base item, its how we know most of tango's retextures stuff is iron nuggets even when he doesn't make them on camera/stream)
now big salmon needs to hire him as their personal counterfeiter against big wood so that way all the "sand" that is being used to purchase the logs is pretty much all worthless. they already have alliances with cleo and false who are perfect for muscle now they need a counterfeiter to break big wood's economic source

Mumbo's episode this week was probably the funniest episode of Hermitcraft like ever, or at the very least the funniest in S10 so far.
The last minute revelation of Cleo's mic in particular had me in tears :D
The fact that the explanation started with “the staircase is behind me” was comedy gold.
I still think "Professional Minecrafters" is the funniest episode of hermitcraft, but mumbo's contest is pretty close. "Thank you for inviting me to this freakshow, but I'm just left handed" had me dead
heres the thing about cleo's set up, its mostly fine, untill you think about how shes a vtuber, and has a face anf hand camera
oh yeah this is my fifth season watching hermitcraft and this is 100% my favorite thus far

I always knew mice had a left-handed mode, but Keralis made me finally realize that if your mouse is in your left hand, by necessity _you would WASD with your right hand_ (and thus thumb-to-shift and pinky-to-space are perfectly chobblesome).

In my opinion Mumbo's is the weirdest setup, even more than Etho's or Cleo's.
Everyone else with a "weird" setup has some reason for it, whether it be ergonimics or comfort. And even if it seems strange, at least they stick to it because it's their preference.
On the other hand, Mumbo's thumb shifting is so bizarre to me because not only is it harder, but the fact that he switches back to using his pinky to shift if he needs to use his spacebar. He isnt even consistent with his own weirdness! He's perfectly capable of pinky shifting but chooses against it for some reason (Etho even asks him this, and Mumbo says "I couldnt tell you why"). That alone shoots him to the very weirdest out of them all in my opinion.
I used to always thumb shift when I had a cheap laptop unsuited for gaming, perhaps he got it from there and just never grew out of it. Honestly I still catch myself going for it with my thumb on rare occasions.
It really is atrocious.
Yeah I kinda agree with this take. Also like...most of the ones that were like "they rebind controls" or "they invert their mouse" shouldn't even be considered weird imo. People have different preferences and there's a reason those settings are changeable. Like it doesn't really get weird until the final few and at least Cleo and Etho had positions they felt were comfortable.
I have a slightly sideways hand position for s-tapping so my thumb is closer to ctrl than my pinky. I take my index off of D so I can jump, In case you’re wondering. If I used my pinky i’d probably have to bend it in on itself and scratch ctrl with my fingernails, which is much worse. Thumb shifting/ctrling is actually really comfortable

I wanna say that I appreciate you guys making these recap episodes. There's too much Hermitcraft for me to watch so I'm glad there's condensed versions for me to see what I miss.
Everyone in that "freak show" has understandable justification for their action except Mumbo's thumb shift.
Counterpoint: any one of Etho's quirks could be justified. But taken *in combination* with the fact that he records *to a single audio channel* just screams _sociopath._
I'm honestly confused by Keralis' way of playing, I'm left handed too and I've learned to play MC like a right-handed person would

I really appreciate the thought that goes into not just what to cover but what things not to cover. There's a good amount of lines from different videos (especially Mumbo's) that would have fit in well with the Recap for this week, but limiting them allows for much more unspoiled content even when covering all the events and mishaps from the server.
I played Minecraft about 45 minutes before rebinding Q. I can't believe anyone keeps Drop Item so close to Walk Forward.
Weirdly I don’t get a lot of problems with accidentally dropping items. I do constantly accidentally open my inventory though, because I’ll absentmindedly put my fingers on esdf instead of wasd. 😅
Right?!! Mine is literally AS FAR AWAY on the keyboard as possible. After dropping my favorite pick in lava once, that was it.

Caps instead of Ctrl is also a very common accessibility feature (it also solves the problems Mac and certain Linux DEs have with Ctrl being used in a system-wide hotkeys).
I move it to ctrl+r. I don’t play vanilla so Q is used to access the quest book and I’m never putting drop item on a single key. Caps lock for sprint is just easier.
Just wanna say the subtle details that ya'll do, the Lethal Company delivery music playing as Ren talks about his own delivery then with the pup? Love it. Doesn't go unnoticed.

My weird Minecraft setup:
My character is left-handed, but I'm not (something about it with the mouse clicks makes more sense to me)
T is drop items
Enter is chat
Shift is sprint
Capslock key is crouch (but it's not that simple bc I had windows swap the pause & capslock keys so I stop triggering caps in chat)
How did you do the key swapping? I've wanted to rebind sprint to caps lock the way Gem and Scar have, but I'd rather not end up typing like sCAR.

I use a trackball mouse, which is probably a weird enough adjustment for most folks. That mouse also has two extra buttons; Mouse4 is to Swap with my Offhand, Mouse5 is my mic [for Discord or the Proximity Chat mod].
As far as keys I have rebound; Tab is Inventory, ~ is the Player List, Shift is Run, Ctrl is Crouch, Enter is Chat.
...I'd love to know what kind of pedal JoeHills has, though. :o

Aside from the trackball mouse that all seems fine. I feel like Mumbo in his attempt to find people weirder than him didn’t realize that it’s not really weird if they have a good explanation for it, like Gem and False… and Joe’s is just cool lol
I think it was mentioned that Joe got the idea for the pedal from Impulse and bought the same one that he uses. And Impulse has mentioned in many of his streams that his is made by... Delgado? (looks it up) The company is Elgato. Impulse uses the Elgato Stream Deck Pedal. It's a 10 inch wide pad with 3 buttons (middle one wider than the others and set a bit lower to help distinguish them by feel, and you can program them to do whatever you want similar to how a mouse and keyboard designed for gamers can have extra buttons that can be programmed.
I don't get why people think trackballs are weird. I'm way more precise with my massive ball (Kensington Expert) than I ever was with a mouse (because you take your hand off the movement controls to click, there's no "recoil"), and I can do easy 360s by literally spinning it.
Plus: no need for a mousepad or even a flat surface.

Etho's mouse position is actually really comfortable when you try it plus it also makes you sit up straigher without making it uncomfortable, the only downside is that you need to be so close to the desk which depending on how you position other peripherals or how small your desk space is, can be a problem

I reset my Spring key to Q and is set to toggle while my Drop key is R.
I have my Sprint toggle on Q for like if your gonna be sprinting it will be forward so I can just tap Q with my finger that would be on A while holding W to move forward.
The reason I switched my Drop Key to R is because by default it would have been Q but I use Q to sprint so I moved it to R which is more convenient to me plus I no longer drop my stuff randomly seeing Drop Key is not right next to forward W anymore.
The gangly Etho spider bloke on the thumbnail will haunt my dreams tonight.
I would just like to say that some of us are, indeed, older than Grian's headset

They only change that I have with my Minecraft keybinds is that I have my mouse keys swapped (left click places blocks, opens doors, etc; right click breaks blocks, attacks, etc). It just feels more natural that way, especially since left-clicking is how you would typically access stuff on a computer, such as opening up a web browser or starting Minecraft.
