- Hey everyone Rho here! Today we're discussing the Primarch of the Salamanders, Vulkan. And his return to Terra during the War of the Beast.
Spoiler Warning to begin as the events we're discussing today are from the Warhammer 40,000 novel "The Beast must die" by author Gav Thorpe. As always I really recommend you read the stories for yourself first without spoilers! As that's the best way to enjoy the lore for yourself!

The ability for a Primarch to just show up and naturally take over is one more great reason why the breaking of the legions was, at the time, necessary.

Yeah @spencerherron5539 it is but also the ability for a primarch to come back, and inspire the loyalty of the Astartes indicates to me how its irrelevant breaking up the legions was. The majority of the vid is based on thrle fact that vulcan could dispose of the high Lords and the Marines would follow Legion or not.
Imagine if Fulgrim decided to return with his pre heresy appearance, the Imperium wouldn't stand a chance.
I think we might be forgetting some of the High Lords trying to stage a coup when Guilliman returned

I couldn't make it through The Beast Arises series. I'm not usually for retconning, but that series could use it.
I think Vulkan threatening the high lords is the reason,There aren't as many salamander successors
Higher standards than the blue boys, plus harder conditions to grow their recruits.
They do have some successors we just don’t hear about them bc marketing reasons.
They have a great short story about a hunt for some chaos salamanders.
@@Zen-rd9np That and the salamanders were always at less than full strength with them being all most wiped out protecting people before even meeting their primarch and the drop site massacre keep their numbers, like the space wolves they don't have many Marines or systems to recruit from along with both being homed to death worlds

@Zen-rd9np yeah, after the War of the Beast, Fabricator General Kubrik used reversed engineered Ork "Telyporta" technology to send Ullanor Prime to what is now the Armageddon system, telling the High Lords that he sent it to the heart of a blue super giant star. The Mechanicus then stripped Ullanor Prime of all useful technology and clear all evidence of the Ork's habitation of the planet. Several centuries later, the planet was colonized by the Imperium and became Armageddon, the rest is history.

I think part of the reason that Vulkan didn't speak with the Emperor, though this is purely speculation, is out of remorse and sadness. As the one Primarch who the most empathetic, save for pre-nails Angrom, would he would probably struggle to face the Emperor. It might very well have reminded Vulkan of the struggle, the pain, the suffering, and the loss that was thrust upon him. While it may have been many hundreds of years since the Heresy, it likely was still fresh in Vulkan's mind: the one wound that his perpetual physiology could not heal. The only reason he came to Terra was to aid the Imperium, the humans that make up its entire being. Vulkan had suffered and gone insane during those now ancient days of the Heresy, but stepping into that room would be to face it all, to LIVE it all again. Primarch he may be, but impervious he is not. If I were Vulkan, I don't think I could take that step into the Throne Room so soon.
Don't think he could step in there......after what I read in The End and The Death 3.
The High Lords were lucky that Vulcan was the one to be summoned (possibly by the Emperor himself) to this meeting - any other son of the Emperor would have gone totally berzerk and obliterating the High Lords of Terra who's only ambition is power for one self and not for the Empire of Man. What a downgrade of the Emperor's grand plan for the galaxy and of Mankind as a ruling species!
God-Emperor help them if they made *_Rogal Dorn_* angry. 😂
The very creation of the Empire and especially the Horus heresy didn't cover the
Primarchs and the Space Marines with glory either.
Creating abhumans whose loyalty is to a single person and his sons and not to humanity as a whole is not the brightest idea, not from a human pov that is.

sadly they have toned down lion character far as i know i would liked the old psycho lion not every1 needs to be a guilliman gives colour to characters and i mean in 42k or whatever we are going now
@@tero2535 I personally prefer the character development, even if it's a bit vanilla but Son of the Forest is great. I wouldn't mind it though if there was an AU of the lion staying himself.
I do think Vulkan WOULD give good hugs.

If Vulkan had killed some of the High Lords then the one on Mars would likely set Mars vs Earth on a warpath. This would gut the Imperium and let the Orks win.

He didn’t go speak with him because the emperor has been speaking to him. It’s how when the chapters showed up to speak with him he told them. There is a war in the future I will return for. This one is not it. How else do you think he knows that?

The High Lords were really lucky, that Vulkan returned. If it would've been Johnson or Russ, none of them would've survived their return to Terra, probably with the exception of Vangorich

I don't really think they should redeem Horus, or at least not this early. Dorn I'm pretty sure is dead, but Abbadon is kinda suspiciously hiding the body. And obviously death is fairly flexible for named characters
Clonegrim for me. They have the pieces laid out and ready, so it wouldn’t be difficult to reintroduce him to the setting. The showdown between loyal Clonegrim and Demon Snakegrim would be epic!
First Vulcan and Corax around the same time.
And for the final hey-maker, bring back Dorn And The Wolf, Khan could appear during a big battle and help even the odds.

I think Vulcan didnt need to speak to Big E since he either has the foresight ot stored memory to know to see Big E when needed.
Considering he was on the Terra during the Siege, i feel like Big E could of did a thing to alter the memory of a moment to be like "yo, meet me in 12k up and here?"
We all know that had Vulkan "Survived" the war of beast he would've had heads rolling in the senatorium.

Even if Vulcan did clean house then the exact same problem would eventually happen just with different people accountable. IAs soon they become accustomed to that type of power recieving bribes and information to increase their power and destabilize their enemies and rivals it becomes almost impossible to let go of.

I hope Vulcan gets back before The Lion returns to terra, i dont see him (lion) agreeing with what has heppende to it, and with his past doubts about the Imperium sekundos i think Vulkan is the only one capable of cooling Johnson.
Johnsons needs an eldar, preferably a forest walking exodite, to keep him cool just like Gulliman and the Khan.

Imagine if Vulkan or the other loyal primarchs would just come out of the aether to judge the high lords and kill them if they were corrupt. That would have kept them more on task. If a demigod comes to earth every 1,000 years and rips apart the high lords, that probably would have benefited the imperium.

long long before. He says 1400 years after the heresey. That era is called 30k? guilliman return is in 40k, so some 10.000 years later then this story.

I struggle to by the idea that Vulkhan is meant to be the super empathetic individual when he's gone into hiding for 10 thousand years.... Seems like GW is trying really hard to force something that doesnt fit.
40k relies on nothing happening as things will end too "quickly" since GW cant really just make up stuff.
So 40k needed to be ramrod stuck or it would fall apart.
