    I thought it was just a prefilter... I clean it as best I can and put it back, though once easily removed a new one can't be that expensive, so, why not? One thing I do is to clean the tank as much as possible before putting it all back together. You are so correct about the water starting the corrosion process. I use a bit of Marvel Mystery Oil in the first tank of gasoline to slow it down after cleaning the tank. We all have to be aware of ethanol in the pump gas as it is hydrophilic. Prevention is the best thing.

      This sounds like what I may be looking for. I was about to order a new air filter on Amazon, but was browsing through the sets, and well, I see a set that is for my exact model, but has TWO fuel filters. After watching the video, I thought it may have been an optional in-line one he spoke about, but your comment is making me think otherwise. It's not the screen style like this one... I would describe it as having accordian-style folds that form a cylinder. Its contained in a clear canister and the top and bottom have the fittings that would accommodate a fuel hose. I'm going to check out his other video if I can find it...

    Hi. I am not a mechanic but have learned a lot in the last 20 years having to have my equipment fixed. My fairly new Honda GX 270 keeps bogging out and the first thing I thought was that the fuel filter was clogged. Now realizing that that’s not normal and a problem, I’m wondering how do I know if my fuel filter needs to be replaced without taking off the whole tank?

    I have a ChoreMaster power washer with a Honda GCV160 engine. No fuel was getting to carb so I checked all the fuel lines for a clog all the way to removing line from the gas tank. There's just a drip or two when I poke a poker through the nipple hole (yes, there's enough new fuel in the tank). Nothing removable from the outside (the nipple is part of the tank) Can't find anything online about a filter accessible inside the tank, but the poker stops cold after a few inches and the opening is not visible inside the tank. There is something in the bottom of the tank, but no obvious way to remove it. It has a yellow emblem that looks kind of like a fish. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    • @THEMOWERMEDIC1
      @THEMOWERMEDIC1  Před 3 lety +1

      Northern tool is not the place to go for small engine repair, you need to find you a good reputable Honda dealership. There are a lot of variables at play here, if it only mowed two times then I would say the gas that you poured in it probably has water and is old. you need to get rid of all your old fuel re-clean the carburetor and start from scratch. if it’s still dies after that then I would hook a spark tester to the coil and check for spark. Also check your fuel cap and make sure it is venting there has to be something simple that you’re missing
