ICELAND RING ROAD: VIK TO HOF - Þakgil (Thakgil), Mossy Lava Fields, Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon

- In the summer of 2022, we headed out on an 821 mile circumnavigation of Iceland. Our original plan was to travel in 2020 but COVID19 postponed our adventure.
This video covers our travel from Vik to Hof. Along the way we stopped at Þakgil (“Thakgil”) for the 2nd time, the Mossy Lava Fields and Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon.
Our goal is capture fun moments of past adventures so that we can look back and reminisce about our experiences together. So many special moments get filed away in memory only to fade over time. We hope that you find your own special moments.
We are two transplants from east of the Rockies who love to go on adventures exploring beautiful vistas and hidden gems.

That was wonderful. I've been to Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon but it was in November and the weather was terrible so I couldn't see much of it. This year I am going in the other direction from Reykjavik, Snæfellsnes Peninsular and maybe up towards the West Fjords! It's a lovely country and you've captured its beauty!!
Thanks for the kind comments. It seems like you have a nice trip planned. Today we are back in Reykjavik relaxing at the end of our Highlands exploration. We drove F208, F210 and took the bus to Thorsmork. I will post those videos eventually. Cheers!

Beautiful shots, however, I don't agree with the use of drones when other people are also trying to enjoy an area. Some people don't want to hear a drone flying over their heads or want drones potentially getting in their photos.

wow ! beautiful do you use the Bracketing technique for the photos at 15:57 ?
Thanks. I used one exposure with a multi-row (3) pano on the photos without us in it. I exposed for the sky on all photos to avoid sky clipping. I use a Sony A7III which can pull up the shadows well.

Cool video! I see that they are paving the road to thakgill? did they reach any close to thakgill itself where you saw them?
Hello. We stayed at the huts in Thakgil a couple of days ago and the road still seems the same rough road. It doesn't appear that they are paving it. We just completed our highlands trip (F210, F208, Thorsmork, etc...) and eventually I will get those videos and photos posted......but it will be a while.
