- Metallica’s Kirk Hammett (guitar) and Robert Trujillo (bass)--as well as Ugly Kid Joe’s Whitfield Crane (vocals), Queens of the Stone Age’s Jon Theodore (drums), Death Angel’s Mark Osegueda (vocals), and Bad Wolves' Doc Coyle (guitar)--perform as The Wedding Band and play a cover of the AC/DC song "Live Wire" live in concert before a sold-out crowd at The Fillmore in San Francisco, California on December 17, 2021. Live Wire originally appeared on AC/DC's second studio album, T.N.T. (1975).
This show at The Fillmore as the Wedding Band was part of Metallica’s “San Francisco Takeover” in December celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary. The all-star cover band played several 70's and 80's rock and funk songs, only wrapping up the show after 3am. The supergroup was formed in 2019 as a Metallica side project; they got their name from the fact that their first gig was a friend's wedding in Hawaii. Their next scheduled gig is on May 27, 2022 at Blue Note Napa / Jam Cellars Ballroom (Margrit Mondavi Theatre) in Napa, California as part of BottleRock After Dark.

That's why I personally have always related to Kurt as a guitarist because he plays metal but is rooted in blues and rock.. All his solos are based in the blues pentatonic scale. Nothing technical and crazy but still remains original. I personally love his style. Probably still plays in his bedroom everyday as he did as a teenager. Same shit I still do lol.

@LeBum Yeah the Tremulant Ep, Deloused, Frances, and Amputecture were the best of The Mars Volta. After Jon left, it wasn't quite the same for me. His drum tracks on those albums are among my favorite ever recorded.

One of my favorite songs. Always gets my blood pumping, no matter how dead I am or tired, wore out. No will to live. I hear this and it is instant rejuvenation.

Yeah was looking at that also. I wondered to myself if he was comfortable do it with a pick or it was just too alien for him. Definitely a first for me seeing him plucking those downstrokes.
I’ve seen Robert play with ST in the 80’s a few times and definitely seen him play certain songs with a pick unlike when he played with Infectious Groove.
This particular track is so timeless. Hard, heavy and vibrant, great lyrics. Great to see/hear guys of this calibre cover it and with justice.
