Awesome review, thanks James.
Thank you too.
Thanks again for more very helpful information. 👍
No problem 👍
From someone who has played FSX for years all pimped out with add ons, these settings and graphics seem more than good enough. Can't wait to purchase this Sim and a new laptop.
Well worth doing.
Was in a similar predicament, I bought an Xbox Series S for MSFS2020 while traveling. It also works using xbox cloud gaming on my Ipad Pro.
Yes the Series S is also very portable.
Thanks for this video. I am currently running MSFS on the XBox S-Series. I suspect the laptop specs you're running with will give significantly better performance and fps to the S-Series. From your experience with both, any thoughts on the comparison from a performance POV? The S does struggle to generate the scenery further away (I guess by design as it aims to optimally use it's limited performance)
MSFS is a wonder on the Series S, I've always been seriously impressed by it's performance on that little box.
But the PC of MSFS, let's you tweak a whole range of graphic options, which noticeably help sharpen/improve the image quality - when flying over London centre for example, you can really notice the visual difference.
Flying over more rural areas: it's sometimes difficult to spot the difference.
@Aviation Ace I'll do a proper review of it soon.
Usually, 16 Gb isn’t even enough for fs2020 when using a high end addon in a power intensive scenery. I had been using 16 Gb of ram for a few weeks when I got my pc and when I was using the fenix a320 at the fly Tampa Las Vegas scenery and my ram usage was at 100% and causing a lot of stutters. Increased it to 32 Gb a week ago and it’s been really nice since then
Great to hear and good tip 👍
Nothing wrong with a laptop these days. I use a RTX3070 2k laptop all settings to default High End. Plays between 45-65. Generally 60ish. Then I play on the bigger screen Xbox series x and that's totally a different feel at 30fps locked. Does your screen support for variable refresh rate that will make the game feel very consistent.
DDLS and direct x 12 optimised will improve things even further, if you can have the fans set to max will help keep it consistent. Your fans seem very loud mine seems much quieter on turbo mode too.
My budget I set myself was around 900-1200, ended giving putting the budget up and up. 1900 in the end! never spent so much in my life. Generally rule of tumb for fs2020 3050 low settings 1080p. 3060 high 1080p 3070 1080p Ultra or 2k High. 3080 doesn't offer much more power unless your talking the ti version.
Also depends a lot on the power spec of the cards too the TPU inside. as high tpu and easily beat a low tpu one. Mine is a 125W TPU.
Alas, also cloud gaming works great on any low spec laptop if you can't afford the expense.
Great points there Daniel. I'll check for variable refresh rate - still very much getting to grips with it.
I got a gaming laptop Aswell with a Ryzen 5 3550H gtx 1650 and like 8gb of ram and I can play on medium but there is lag when u get into the airports like jfk and Lhr
Hi great vid, I have a rog strix scar II, I tried to get cloud gaming with my xbox account but I could not get the controller to work. I haven't downloaded on to this laptop but after seeing your vid I might give it a try.
It is worth a try.
Just downloaded it looks good I will take it on holiday.
Lenovo Legion 5i with 32 GB of RAM runs almost all ultra on 40 FPS and 30 FPS when there are too many clouds or in huge cities. Pretty smooth.
That sound great - It'll likely do 1440p at high, fairly smooth too (Monitor output).
Hi just a note Flight sim performance doesn't scale with core count but with high max boost clock speed and large L3 cache as well as fast low latency RAM
Thanks Chris
I have a Legion with a RTX3070. Runs great.
I can well imagine that it does.
Good evening. I was wondering if you've tried flying in VR one your laptop. I would findbthatbvery very interesting. Thank in advance for your reply.
Not yet, but I am intending to.
Hi James, just as a matter of interest, do you use a controller when flying on your laptop? If so, what do you use? It's easy enough to carry a laptop when travelling but there's a limit on peripherals it's comfortable to travel with. :)
Hi Squirel, I was using my Xbox 360 controller when I was flying over London in this video. I'll likely take that and my Hotas 4 with me, to begin with.
It looks like a solid performer. How about the battery life? How long you can play MFS on the battery?
The battery is quite small, so only a couple of hours gaming with it - but that's never a concern for me, as I always have my Laptops plugged in.
Depends on the spec of the battery, I've ran FS2020 for about an hour or so before, but laptops need to be plugged into access the power of the system.
Hello, nice video mate. Where did you buy MSFS from?
I bought the Steam edition: upcoming video on that.
@@Huddison is my nitro 5 good enough? RTX 3060, 1000 GB, 16 GB RAM, 4.8 Ghz
@@luchsegamer8112 It should be comparable to my own laptop.
@@Huddison how long does MSFS take to download?
Hi Do you still use this laptop , if so, do you run X plane 11/12 on it as well ? any info appreciated Very interesting video Thank you !
I've tried X-plane 12 on the Laptop and it ran really well.
@@Huddison Great to hear that. Thank you for the reply !
In 2023 can you suggest which laptop I can buy, which play Microsoft Flight simulator 2020 smoothly? Also the cheapest and best.

can you do a video on msfs 2020 where i can see how it looks like with passenger plane and cockpit view?
Maybe I'll integrate that in a future video.
@@Huddison I'm thinking about buying a gaming laptop, so a video with CockpitView would be great
I have 16RAM, 14 core i7 and RTX 3060. do you think its good enough to play. Its a ASUS TUF15
Yes that sounds good to me.
Hey man how are you? Got a lil question for ya, as ive seen people benchmark flight sim on 3080-90s and getting around 30 fps i told myself to forget about it. Then ive stumbled upon a video of a guy running flight sim with a 960M! (Well at 900p and low settings but hey) it still runs which amazes me. So ive looked up upon myself to figure out if my system is powerful enough to run flight sim before dishing out a whoping 130gb and 60$ down the drain, any help would be appreciated! First off its a laptop, and here are the specs:
RTX 2080 Max q 90w (I know RIP)
I9 9980HK
16gb 2666mhz ddr4 ram
I really would appreciate an answer seeing that your still responding to people recently! Cheers!
Oh yea id also like to run the game with a blend of high and ultra, also i intend to lock my frames at 30fps to make it easier on my system.
No issues running MSFS at around 40-60 FPS, with high settings with that laptop I reckon: good GPU, CPU & enough Ram.
Might even be able to push to 1440p with medium-high settings with acceptable FPS.
@@Huddison thats like music to my ears! I really appreciate you dedicating some time to answer my question I definitely will subscribe and continue to help your channel out just like you helped me out, Have a great day man!
hi james can i get the sheper one that includes a rtx 3050
You could do, but the 3060 is better bang for the buck.
@@Huddison ok thx
Please help...
If I want to play Microsoft flight simulator best pc version
Which Laptop and graphics card should I buy?
It performs well with this laptop. Pc you have many options, but I would go for a 3060 minimum for MSFS.
@@Huddison thanks. can you send me a laptop eBay buying link
I got a intel octa core i7 with a 3070 in my laptop.
MY DEBATE - go with 6900 xt or 3080 for flight simulator with a 12700k = WHICH is the stronger card for the desktop version = anyone know the guaranteed answer ?????
Asking in the Discord may be more helpful with this question. I would personally go with the 3080; I don't know which card is the most powerful, but I do know that folks have got good returns in MSFS with a 3080 GPU.
Can anyone recommend this laptop for msfs 2020
Yes I use it for MSFS myself: czcams.com/video/7U1flX1jkug/video.html
how much is the laptop ?
A couple of years ago, it cost me just over £900. You can very likely get a better spec laptop for the same price now (Google will be useful for this).
could i play this on laptop that has logo HP idk the name
It depends on the laptop's specifications
