Sad when $47k is considered a steal !!! $35k all day. Trucks at $100k, absolutely insanity !!!!
What's disgusting is a unibody Ford Maverick can now be priced out easily over 35 grand. When just 3 years ago they were released at $20,000 flat
@@lee1130fromtwitter agreed. NA manufacturers went full moron on pricing. hope people let the stock rot on lots
These trucks are such a cheap bargain I love it. Can’t complain about price of course it’s gonna go up over the years as money gets eaiser to make.
This truck wouldn’t be 35k. It the high end Denali. The SLE or SLT, yes, 35k.
@@JoshuaOverman Please share whatever you're smoking😂
Toyota has lost their mind with their pricing
Their recent pricing on the Land Cruiser has cemented this sentiment.
Agree can’t find a manual with the 14 inch screen under 50000
You have to be naive to think other manufacturers won't be raising prices like Toyota did. GMC isn't nearly as reliable as Toyotas. I can sell my 16 Tacoma for close to what I paid 8 years ago. That's why I'll only own a Tacoma.
@@donjuan2105
That’s a 2016 Toyota
They jacked their prices, lowered their reliability, they killed their niche, much like jeep did
@@donjuan2105 yup im getting the trd pro tacoma, i know it will last me for years anddd when i do resale it the value stays high, and i dont like to upgrade every year
These mid size trucks should top off at $40K. What a sad state of pricing affairs.
When even the GMC is cheaper than the Tacoma….
That’s when you know Toyota has lost their mind
Toyota will hold its value better and GMC is my favorite brand.
@@ronnieblea4422
Toyota is living on its past reputtstion
Yeah but the Yota will be around in 20 years
This pile not a chance
@@billyzgoneape
Old Toyota….. sure
New ones …. TBD
I'll take my Nissan Frontier all day long every day. V6 and no turbo!
Auto makers still charging like we're in a pandemic. Ridiculous that Americans are buying at this price and think it is a deal. Whatever happened to supply and demand setting price? I can't believe Americans running to dealerships to pay this price. Which shows how little power we really have and how much power corporations have
As long as consumers continue consuming at these inflated prices, they will just keep rising 😞
No matter how many times I'm told truck prices these days are a bargain I call absolute B.S. I'm not trading till the powers that be come back to earth!
Best looking truck out there. Wish I could afford
pretty good deal, but i think it really just shows how overpriced the Tacoma is
@Ben Hardy: I am a Ford guy and have been for life but at $47k, the Canyon AT4 is a steal compared to Ranger and Tacoma. Looks real nice.
If you think over 50 G’s with fees and taxes is a steal then idk
@@Skwid-Lives
Ok….. amd what are the ranger and Tacoma going to be after taxes and fees?
@@lordrayden3045 i dont think you should be looking at it like that. the whole industry pricing is dumb. period
A sales job disguised as a review just like every other car review on CZcams
Pick up my AT4X tomorrow, super excited to get it on the road.
You don’t even turn on the headlights/foglights anymore 🫠
Ben is so excited about this truck that he couldn't wait for a dry day and did the review in the rain. LOL
As a GM employee, we barely get a % off that. Talk about inflation 😨 I purchased a 1997 S-10 base model brand new & it cost me $12,500 with my dad's discount. I kept it 23yrs and put 300K on it. Replaced engine and transmission once each which is a great deal. I'm currently looking to buy a new Canyon but I was shocked to learn that we only got $1500 off of certain models and zero off the others 😢
Holly cow. I can do a lot of repairs to my 10 year old tundra for $47K.
This is my next truck! Thanks for the review Ben!
Beautiful rig!
When did 47k for a mini truck become a bargain?
2020
When the manufacturers realized that consumers would keep buying trucks no matter what the price.
…4 cylinder engines just doesn’t belong in these kinda trucks… they do all the stuff needed but simply miss out on fasciation and character…🤷🏻♂️
You can thank your government for that. However, this engine has FAR better driving characteristics than the V6.
@@Holden-McGroin
Yeah…. Your “however” tells you why they are doing it, nit the government
People, love, blaming that big bad government, it’s nit them
It is because of the government. They have to meet emissions, and if they go backwards with power outputs, people will complain and/or buy the competition. So, to pass emissions AND improve power, small displacement turbo engines are good solutions, as are hybrid systems. This isn’t rocket science.
My local dealer has had several Chevy Trail Boss and GMC Elevate versions that were nicely equipped for around 42k. They never last over a week. Toyotas pricing is shocking. I have a couple buddy's with older Tacoma's with the V6. They both decided to just keep what they have because they think the pricing is too high and they don't like the fact the V6 is no more.
Exactly right. A colleage at work has a 2016 tacoma v6 with a stick and he's decided to keep it forever. Their newer stuff is beer quality on a champagne budget
Toyota knows what you pay for up front, you can get back when you sell. This is a nice truck, though. I agree that it's a good value. Funny how these midsized trucks aren't far off from being full sized anymore.
I hate the new sizing
You get what you pay for. Tacomas hold there value for a reason. Good luck having a GMC hold there value.
@@donjuan2105 Toyota jumped the shark ten years ago. Their new stuff has as many or more problems than anything else
@Mournful3ch0 considering "jumping the shark" analogy doesn't remotely apply to the point your trying to make. My 3rd gen Tacoma with 200k miles has been flawless. Go troll someone else!
Does it always rain/snow in SLC? Seems like majority of these videos are in crappy weather.
Damn, these prices have pushed me out of the market for a new truck. I am glad I got my 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 w/ manual when I did, considering you can't even get that setup anymore.
You can still get the 6 speed on the new Taco’s.
Once you come back to reality you understand how cheap these are it’s awesome you can get all this for only mid 40s my dad’s new side by side was 40k and it’s a piece of junk. I would match rather buy one of these to use as a property work vehicle/ woods beater
It amused me that while Ben is promoting the GMC dealership that allowed him access to their truck for review there's a big giant Ford sign looming in the background above Ben's head in the frame.
Lol
I'm not a truck guy but was pretty impressed with the AT4 my buddy just picked up. His one complaint was on the tires being very loud and less than ideal tracking on smooth pavement.
The base Bridgestone Dueler tires that came on mine are very quiet and are respectable off road IMHO. Just dont take them in mud
The 4 ft bed is perfect for runs to Costco.
Perfect for fetching toilet paper!
Where are you located? I just looked at a 2024 Tacoma sr5 that was listed at 38.5k and looked at a 2024 gmc canyon at4 listed at 40k.. both brand new from the dealership - located in West Michigan
Prices are so high my nose started bleeding.
Great job GM!
I'm not buying a turbo 4 banger. No longevity. I'll keep my frontier V-6.
Hell yeah, cross arms and wide legged stace with a beefy TRUCK😤 the ben hardy classic is back
I do love the aesthetics of the canyon and sierras but i dont trust gmc reliability yet. Alot of these trucks are all fluff
I really want this truck but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on a turbo 4-cyl
Is this 2.7 a toyota motor
I want one but am so worried about GM quality, my 2009 Sierra rusted away
We purchased a band new 2020 Silverado in April of 2020. We only put 37 thousand miles on it in just less than 4 years. Infotainment screen always had ghost touches that would lock up the screen. The leaf springs started to grind and would make clunking noises when going over the most minor bumps. Dealership replaced the spacers in the leaf springs to no avail. Also updated the infotainment screen and that didn't fix the issue. I these issues are minor but still. We traded it for a used raptor and haven't looked back.
@@BeardedxPostman My truck started to burn oil at 50k. The dealer told me it had thrown a piston and needed a new engine. I took it to my local mechanic, $400 for a new set of valve stem seals and no issues since. I just don't trust GM.
Hmm under warranty but paid $400 instead of new engine for free? Bullshit
I love your videos... but they make me dizzy because of the camera shaking
Slow down on your reviews!
Nice part plan on a trans replacement around 90 to 100 thousand.Just more rolling shit boxes
The 8L90s were great transmissions in a heavier full size truck, why would we expect it to be bad in a small one?
We have different definitions of a bargain.
15-20 grand is a bargain
When will auto makers learn that we don’t want piano black. That always turns to scratched up garage within a year or two
Looks horrible in this truck like kids toy grade. Was gonna buy one but passed bc of this
I’m at Toyota tech and I would rather have this than the Tacomas. More bang for your buck. The new Toyotas feel cheap
the AT4X AEV sticker is $83,000 lol.......
Same fuel economy as a fullsize lol
Save up people. New norm
Why go with any 4 cylinder if it still only gets 20mpg ? Get the 3.6
Such a bargain
You couldn't give me a four cylinder Canyon or Tacoma. The 2.7 liter displacement of the Canyon turbo may be the same as the Ford's, but the Ford is a turbo six cylinder. There is a world of difference between the two. The Toy is an emasculated grocery getter. Any in line four cylinder engine over 2.5 (really 2.0 liters) liters will be over square and be saddled with cylinder firing imbalances. In the past, some companies would equip their oversquare engines with counter rotating balance shafts to quell the natural shaking of the engine (e.g. Porsche supplied its 3.0 liter four cylinder engine in the 944 with balance shafts). I applaud Mary Barra for 86ing the EV program at GM. I guess I should be thankful for small deficiencies from GM like this one. Thanks Ben.
Nice catch on the Porsche balancing shaft configuration. IIRC they licensed it from Mitsubishi.
The Toyota four that was lauded as extremely reliable was a NA 2.7l four
Works out for you then cause they won’t give you one
These motors have countershafts and are very smooth. They are oversquare which helps in torque production, and don't like being revved over 5,500rpm, If you drive it like the 2.8 turbo-diesel which everyone loves, its everything that engine is and more from my point of view.
If the car market would adjust itself, that would be great 😭😭
It's adjusting right now. Sales way down, repos way up!
No lockers front and rear?
Rear mechanical locker, the G80
My 1987 Ford Ranger I had as a kid, got better gas mileage!
I hate the brown! Why is this the only opinion for the AT4
Mids 40s for a gm pickup with 4cyl…bargain. Jesus
Nothing is a bargain at 7-10 percent interest rates …
No offense, but your definition of “bargain” is relative..I mean bargain as compared to what? A $70k F150? A BMW 5 series?
$47k is absurd for that truck
Youre buying reliability with the Tacoma and a history of good service and customer service. All things that dont exist with GM, Theres a reason these trucks seem like the bargain of the century.
Terrible miles per gallon.
You need to work on the endings of your videos.
Honda Ridgeline is bigger and has a better V6 motor.
Of ot has 4 doors ,to me it's not a truck
You have to be naive to think other manufacturers won't be raising prices like Toyota did. GMC isn't nearly as reliable as Toyotas. I can sell my 16 Tacoma for close to what I paid 8 years ago. That's why I'll only own a Tacoma.
do some simple walk around videos " of the truck " .. I'm tired of seeing the same features over and over
All you guys saying this is a good deal have lost the plot.
That interior color reminds me of baby poo.
Clickbait! $47k is not the deal of the century!
It's worth 35k on a good day
Frontier is better
GMC is the reason I started buying Toyota much better quality and resale with Toyota
Engine is crap, can't stand the way it sounds with acceleration.
Pathetic gas mileage. My sierra 1500 diesel gets 30mpg on highway 23 around town. I get better mileage towing my 17 ft camper
25k truck if that.
5:52 - let the poor truck move when you're steering that quickly! You drive like an ol' lady
gmc should be cheaper than tacoma because gmc is shit
THOSE RIMS NOT SO MUCH 🤮
Top 5 worst trucks to buy for 2023, has the Silverado, Canyon, Colarado, Titan with the Galdiator in the #1 spot. GM has 3, thats 3 of the top 5 worst trucks to own. Holy 💩 people, stop buying this garbage.
According to who?
According to repairpal, the Colorado/ Canyon have 2 of the top 4 spots for midsize reliability. Frontier is #1, Ranger is #3.
Depends on where you get your information, but they're all about the same these days
@shiftmotorsports9803 Sadly, the few people I know who own either a Canyon or Colorado believe they have great trucks, even when they are getting repaired. Ignorance sure is bliss, I'd bet.
I like midsize but they don’t like me. Almost fit but not quite, comfortable for longer trips.
@nickdeagle3271 yea, that forces you to buy a full sized truck, unfortunately. I have many of friends that don't quite fit in my midsized truck.
