  • Short little update. I can't believe it’s been 6 months already since Phase 1.
    Welcome!
I’m Tiffany! A Christian wife and mama! I found out I had breast cancer in 2020 and then two days had a positive pregnancy test.
I am not giving medical advice and I have no background in the medical field. This is a video journal and it’s meant to be a testimony to all that God has done.

Thank you for sharing your journey on your breast reconstruction. I am getting ready to do the exact procedure within a few months. You really helped to calm my nerves for what is coming.

I just came across your videos and story, I had a lumpectomy in 2018 that was zero stage cancer follow up was tamoxifen then also that same year had cyst removed from kidney that was an unrelated cancer. Had genetic testing done and found out I am Brca2 positive so in 2019 had hysterectomy and now considering the mastectomy with diep flap reconstruction. I am 50 divorced and don’t feel like flat is my best option and not crazy about the idea of implants. Since 2019 I had told myself just continue with mammograms and MRIs and when something shows up then deal with it then… but I was diagnosed with diabetes about 9 months ago and have it under control with diet and have lost 45 lbs so I know that with God all things are possible. Jesus took my sugar addiction and now He seems to be opening my mind to the possibility of this surgery. I have met with breast surgeon and had MRI which is clear and have appointment with plastic surgeon on Jan 30th. I feel most overwhelmed about insurance coverage, taking time off work and having to ask my family to help me thru recovery. I lost my grandmother to breast cancer in 2017 and since my Aunt has also been gone thru her own breast cancer journey. My sister is also BRca2 positive, and fearful of having hysterectomy or mastectomy. Thank you for sharing your story it is a blessing

How do you feel about the way your stomach looks now? One of the reasons I want this surgery is I like the idea of a flatter tummy. Are you happy with those results?

Hi Tiff. So you end of doing one side mastectomy?

    • @tiffanyrae6592
      @tiffanyrae6592  Před 10 měsíci +1

June 2020 diagnostic with DCIS and ILC. Also found out I was pregnant.
Had a single left mastectomy with immediate implant on the left side only.
January 2021 felt a new lump. Cancer was back over the implant and this time more aggressive and her2+.
Was induced at 38 weeks, had baby then started chemo at about 6 weeks postpartum. Infusion Chemo was finished in July but I still went every 3 weeks for my Perjeta injection for a full year. July 2021 I had surgery and went flat on one side(left) they removed my implant and made sure the chemo killed all the cancer. So they basically did an extreme mastectomy.
then I had radiation in October of 2021 for 6 weeks. January 2023 I had DIEP flap reconstructive on both sides. I was flat on one side and the other side I had a preventative mastectomy with DIEP as my reconstruction. Then May 2023 I had phase 2 to even things out and reconstruct the nipple. I’m also on Tamoxifen.

@@tiffanyrae6592 thank you so much for all the details. So the whole process can take up to a year to fully feel better after the diep surgery. I think I’m leaning toward diep instead of implant bc what if the cancer come back then they have to remove the implant like your situation.

@@12382576 if your DR suggest a lumpectomy I think that’s probably fine and must mean the cancer is local and contained. I needed a complete Mastectomy bc the cancer was spread over 3/4 of my breast.
If you have a family history of breast cancer or the BRACA gene .. I think a mastectomy is also reasonable. That way you can worry less about the cancer returning bc there is no more breast tissue.
My mom had a lumpectomy and radiation 12 years ago and then her cancer came back this year. So now she had a double mastectomy. She said she wished she would have just done that the first time.
Everyone is different and has different outcomes. Unfortunately there is no easy solution or a way to look into the future.
It sounds like you have a hard choice to make and I think researching and praying for guidance is your best solution.
