Never thought of cleaning a handful of makeup brushes at the same time. That will save me time! Also, I thought that dawn soap will damage the brushes. Glad to know it won’t! This will save me time and money! Thanks for the tips!

Even Nicki of Real Technique says brush cleaners are a gimmick and all you need is dish soap or baby shampoo and that’s it. Should not lay them flat because the water needs to drain from the bristles (to prevent the adhesive from eroding away) but everything else is pretty much what most do.

HINT: the blue dawn 4x is ALSO a great LAUNDRY soap! I use 1.5 tablespoons (proper baking spoons) per large load. start water intake, hold the full spoon under the incoming water flow, let the suds build for 1 minute, then add clothes. been doing this for years! cost 6 cents per large load!! HUGELY cheaper than laundry soap. I make a diluted version put in squeeze bottle to do shirt collars n cuffs n spots. works great! rinses well, no skin rashes etc. GREAT STUFF!!

Great video thanks so much for sharing. I use a marseille soap bar for my brushes: I rub the brush straight on the wet bar surface and then onto my hand, it melts all make up instantly even waterproof one (I got this tip from an artist which uses it for his professional painting brushes), but before that I used dish soap too and it works great as well. I love all your content ❤

I have a few questions for hygienic reasons what are your thoughts on cinema secrets brush cleaner that instantly dries ? Do you only use it in certain situations or do you prefer the old school way water soap and air dry? Is it due to chemical residue and you don't want that on skin? And is it good for instant clean or is that ok for deep cleaning too?

This is so helpful! I used to only have 3 brushes for eyes, one for blush and things like that, and a beauty blender type sponge. So I only had 5 things to wash. I have a few more now but they’re getting old. I want to get 10 brushes, a few new sponges, and a few powder puffs and I want to take care of them really well!! I’m getting some elf ones and some from xo beauty, which is a small business ☺️ I’m so excited that I won’t have to wipe off my brush on a makeup wipe in between products anymore! I’m helping a friend with her wedding makeup soon so I’m really thankful for everything I’ve learnt from you 💕

I live in super humid south Florida, & I lay a towel down right along the edge of the counter so I can lay the brushes along the edge w/ just the actual fibers hanging off the edge (does that make sense haha?). That way, they get air circulation from the bottom as well as the top & dry faster. They are always dry the next day (except for the occasional very large & dense brushes, & thats still only sometimes!). :)

"Sanitize" is very different than "sterilize"- as I'm sure you know- it is definitely possible to sanitize or "disinfect" a beauty sponge ...You can even spray them down or saturated them in ethyl alcohol/water mixture for a couple minutes before washing, if you so please! I mean thats (often) what keeps the doe foot applicators in lip glosses, concealers, etc. safe to use for months & months w/ zero washes. :)

I’m surprised you use sponges on clients and not disposable wedges. Surely that’s more hygienic on clients than beauty blenders even if you do wash them - reusable sponges just seem like tools best for personal use
