    Just got my stratified tune yesterday, do you tap the throttle whenever you want it to backfire? Sometimes I can't get my car to do it on deceleration

    • @cartermaneki
      @cartermaneki  Před 4 lety +2

      yeah, you kinda have to feather it as you’re decelerating. The higher the rpm, the louder and more frequent the backfires will be. That being said with stratified it won’t backfire under 2500rpms.

    Looks like you’re in the Pittsburgh area. I live in moon township right next to Robinson township but I’d love to meet up sometime and maybe ride along in your car to see the difference between mine. I got an apr stage 2 tune on my Gti and it feels good but I want pops and bangs. But yeah I’d love to meet up sometime and check it out.

    • @cartermaneki
      @cartermaneki  Před 5 lety +1

      Brayton Willerval yes the low torque. A lot faster than stock. Feels like a whole different car. I don’t have dyno numbers yet but it keeps up with alot of the american v8’s out there. Plus the backfires with the tune are sick

      when I was having issues with the EPC light and limp mode it ended up being my intake manifold. The old style intake manifold has an issue with the manifold runners, luckily it’s covered under the Volkswagen extended warranty.

      @cartermaneki  Před 5 lety

      Carter Maneki how is the turbo muffler delete? Interesting in getting one. Does it add sound or power?

    • @cartermaneki
      @cartermaneki  Před 5 lety

      Luciano Messina definitely adds sound when coupled with an intake. This thing sounds like a semi truck when you lay into it. Might reduce lag a little bit, hard to say. And on paper it adds power, but I don’t have dyno sheets to back that claim up.

    • @lucianomessina1438
      @lucianomessina1438 Před 5 lety

      Carter Maneki I have a full turbo back exhaust and it sounds ridiculously loud lol. I kinda just want that turbo muffler delete now cus I feel like I can’t hear my turbo at all, even with my intake and upgraded DV

    • @cartermaneki
      @cartermaneki  Před 5 lety

      Luciano Messina I definitely feel that it’s well worth the money. I’m also running significantly more boost than stock, so that contributes to the sound. On the mk7’s the turbo muffler delete is pretty straightforward, but on the mk6 it’s not the easiest job.

  • @jaredrummel8235

    do you think it is a bad idea to get the stratified tune on a stock mk6 gti with only a cat-back exhaust? the car is 8 years old and has 108,000 miles

    • @cartermaneki
      @cartermaneki  Před 4 lety +1

      jared rummel when you purchase the tune you specify which modifications are done to your vehicle so you can get a custom tailored tune. If everything is solid on the car I would highly recommend a tune from stratified!

      @@cartermaneki thanks dude you seem like you know exactly what your talkin about haha so i thought id ask. do you know if there is there a tune solely for the crackles and pops not necesarily for the power increases?

    • @cartermaneki
      @cartermaneki  Před 4 lety

      jared rummel with stock equipment on the car just having a 91 tune from them would likely give you a little more power but also let the car operate more smoothly and healthily. However, most of the pops and crackles come from a deleted catalytic converter, so if you get the tune and have the stock cat, likely the pops and crackles won’t be too impressive unfortunately.

    • @cartermaneki
      @cartermaneki  Před 5 lety +1

      Andrew Calvillo it has a hollow cat shell on it (I purchased the downpipe with the cat, but hollowed it out, so it’s effectively catless) I did this so I would pass the yearly state inspection for pennsylvania.

      @@tfuntoy I did dynos for off the shelf stage 1, 2, Stratified Protune stage 1, and Stratified Protune stage 2 with proper "ECU learning time" between each change. Stratified Protune Stg 1 is best bang for the buck. Protune Stg2 was marginal gains given the added cost and you can't feel it but can measure it. Anyone who tells you they can feel the PT stg2 difference is full of shit. They can hear it and maybe feel the bass from the deeper exhaust equating this to be faster. But no way they can feel the car moving faster. But it's definitely measurable.

      @@tfuntoy yes, like I said, PT stg1 faster than OTS stg2. PT stg1 to PT stg2 is not feelable, only measurable. No feelable difference between any cold air intake vs K&N stock intake with snow guard removed; again, only measurable.
