Thanks a lot for the comment! They are actually very fast and can be taller than you already in a couple of years. What matters is that there are other mangroves around to help the seeds grow by providing shade, filtering the salt from the water and much more. It is indeed a seed, not a twig, as it may appear (it grows on the tree and then drops on the ground, into the soil and grows). The volunteers are planting them in a more thoughtful way and at the right time (when the tide is low) making sure that it is stuck in the ground. To be more precise, it is called a propagule. There are a couple of more videos about planting mangrove, going a bit into detail in the process. I don't know whether the links will work, but you are certainly able to find in on the channel. Microsoft Weather I use every day and you can help plant a Mangrove tree in Kenya through their program. I've planted 18 trees already. It's not much but I think every little bit helps.
Duuuuuuudde this was the most enjoyable video I watched after a while. I really wanted to plant Mangroves but I am presently in a landlocked city, some 600kms away from all sea bodies. Wanted to know if I can plant Mangroves around fresh water lake or river banks? Loads of love.
The mangrove has a complicated method of salt excretion. Grafting would probably have a lot of issues since the internal salinity would likely accumulate and kill non adapted limbs.
