Regarding the initial L3 demo - Consider deactivating the Dither and Noise Shaping options. You should only apply that stuff when down converting a session or a file's bit depth (e.g. 24bit --> 16bit). As well, these options should be applied at the very last stage of any processing chain.
I'm afraid Adobe Audition 3.0 has been surpassed for over a decade now and as such PlugIn developers naturally develop for sofware that's currently available. A lot of Plugins do work on 32 bit platforms but most likely Audition 3.0 is not supported.

Any reason your vocal is recorded on 2 channels?
It makes little difference as the mic is mono. The reason however is that Audition is set to record the output from my mixer which is stereo.
