indeed. we only have to wait til we can see if her ingame animations hold to the same standard. from the tiny bits from her recall, it does seem like there is a bit of that movement in there but we shall see if more of its translates.
I like how the fake head just trying to lip sync but ended up looking creepy because the fake head doesnt have a mouth, it's just part of skin bulging up, make it look very uncanny but make sense

I loved how uncanny valley she felt. That feel of “this thing is wrong” tingling down my spine. I didn’t even notice the out of sync lobs or the swaying. I love a monster hiding behind beauty
The entire time I was watching that trailer it was a case of ‘my god, what is this weird lip sync, and why is she moving that way? Did arcane take that much budget?’ And then the reveal… and it’s just a case of ‘oh, oh she does THAT’

Funny how her head being that high up in her disguise makes it so that allured people would stare at it for so long, only looking up and focusing on its beauty, and not realizing that just below the "head" is its actual mouth where the unsuspecting prey is then devoured. They focus too much on what is up that they can't see what is being done to them right in front.

At first I thought the lip sync was off then realized it was a part of the aesthetic. Such amazing attention to detail. Where Viego was cliche edge, this is subversive edge.
I was actually really confused with the voice not syncing with the movement of the mouth. That's such an amazing detail!!!
This is the few times where attractive human features makes sense on a character. The way her face opens and closes up shows how much inspiration they took from alien movies when designing Bel. Really gives off that sense that she's of a much higher status as a Void creature.
It is notable that a rioter has stated that while she does reflect a change in phylosophy regarding champion design, she is NOT the promised monster champion. Bel'Veth was actually designed as a humanoid in her early concepts and became more monstrous over time. The monster champion was delayed to probably next year, in the context of their initiative to ensure each champion gets as much polish as possible before being released.
The "legs" remind me a lot about how sailors would believe to have seen sirens due to beluga whales having that same "legs" outline on their lower bodies. You can see they really took a lot of inspiration from sea creatures and myths

I found the overall angler fish design sooooo cool. The concept of all her humanoid actions only being a disguise is lovely and actually new and innovative in leagud
The fake out was amazing. I was in a call with my friends watching it the first time and we all collectively groaned when we saw it was a humanoid. Once the true form was revealed we broke Discord's fucking sound gate from cheering.

Still though it's a win and it's not even the monster champ they promised, that's coming out next year. Belveth just ended up becoming more monstrous through the development cycle

With Bel'veth they have decided to stray a bit from the mould they started to set and made something more interesting and thematically suitable for the Void

I really like the manta ray vibes of her true form, since the inherent creepiness of all that exists below the waves is a very successful foundation to build a horror aesthetic on.

I like how Bel'veths humanoid form is designed, because it still has monster features, she doesn't just body swaps or something like that, and man I love the contrast between Kai'sa and Bel'veth, makes it so Kai' Sa looking human isn't THAT MUCH of a problem (as a design, since it doesn't make much sense lore wise), though, I refer to Kai'sa looking human being a good thing, not the fact of having a vacuum sealed suit.
Also Kai'sa suit looks weird in realistic art styles, because the it tries to be like armor and skin thigh at the same time.
Side note: Just imagine the fact of someone like Kai'sa being perceived as a repulsive monster and someone like Bel'veth being perceived as the peak of human beauty, coexisting in the same world.
It is meant to be armour and skin tight from a lore perspective as it is literally fused to her skin

But is underwhelming for a void creature, there isn't any major anatomy change, you could retcon Kai'sa into having a suit and having superhuman abilities, rather than a symbiote and would still make sense.
The symbiote suit is way too normal looking, it lacks a crazy design twist.

It kinda is. Top-selling games don't have sex plastered all over them. Same with top-selling movies. The reasons sex used to really sell was because how taboo it was back then (even up to the 1970s in the USA), making people feel that excitement when you do something you "know you really shouldn't do".
Nowadays, sex is just that: sex. It's not special, it's accepted, more people are educated about it, so it really doesn't drive people to buy things anymore. It will still get a few more eyeballs looking at it, though. But sales? Nope.

What we don't like is 3 years full of nothing but Barbie and Ken dolls in another costume to the point where a Yordle is legit the most variety we got in years. Even champions that being conventionally hot and sexy actively hurt their storytelling like Kai'sa, Yone or Thresh Riot still make them pretty eboys and egirls for the sake of them being pretty. I'm sorry but in a world where Fiddlesticks, Aatrox, Urgot, Tahm Kench and all the void champions exist, every new released champion looking like a Kill la Kill character doesn't work.

Love the animations, splash, and that we get a new monster champion and more lore. But I really dont think bel'veth's human form was made with the intent of "haha lets make a sexy lady for money." She's really tame in the way you really cant see anything, and her having a semi human form makes sense lore wise. I think a lot of people are just saying that because she happens to have a human form but it's so obvious they made her with the intent on being a monster. Regardless super excited to see on her!
You can see a clear emphasis on "standard beauty". A nice symmetrical face, clearly distinguishable legs and hips, and a nice chest.
She is, or at least try to be, sexy.
Of course, it works quite well here because this is what a monster thinks a sexy human looks like, and said monster can not simply hide its monstrous traits. Therefore we come to this nice design of a - at first glance-a sexy lady that - upon closer inspection - is clearly not a lady but a monster
It makes sense lore-wise because Riot makes the lore. That point doesnt work when they can easily make something like Sek´ Si: Kaisa´s long lost twin sister who is a queen of the void and also fell into the void in bikini. They make both the design and the lore, they can make anything work lorewise.
And Riot themselves yesterday admitted that she isnt a monster champ they promised, that one is coming early next year/late this year. She was definetly made with attractive humanoid in mind and the monster formn will probably be a recall/ult animation.
I'm not sure "sex sells" is a fallacy. Admittedly, if I see an attractive person on the cover of a book or in a video game I'm probably going to check out their story. 🤷♀️ A pretty face can draw people in, but its the story and character's composition that will make them stay.
