afganistan is run by taliban not government ..in 2019 when afgan was run by government then afgan was invited but now it is taken over by taliban group so there is no way it will get invited
The response seems silly and is far from the truth.
Afghanistan and Iran are friends of India, like many other countries, but they are not invited because they are not India's immediate neighbors. However, if and when Pakistan gives back POK-Gilgit-Baltistan and Baluchistan to India, then they will become India's immediate neighbors. All the other invited countries are our immediate neighbors through either land or through maritime routes.
India invited all our immediate neighbours, except Pakistan; and China didn't accept the invitation. There ends the story.

I understand why you might be confused. Let me clarify and expand on the details. During all three swearing-ins, the media largely stated that country leaders were invited based on India's "Neighbourhood First" policy. This is only partially true, as there was an additional criterion each time.
- In 2014, the SAARC countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka) were invited, with Myanmar as an additional invitee due to its close ties with India.
- In 2019, the BIMSTEC countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand) were invited. Afghanistan, Maldives, and Pakistan, not being part of BIMSTEC, were not invited. Kyrgyzstan and Mauritius were special invitees.
- In 2024, the SAGAR countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Sri Lanka) were invited. China was invited with the hope that it would join the SAGAR initiative, but they declined. Afghanistan, Iran, Myanmar and Pakistan are not part of the SAGAR initiative and were not invited. Although India could have invited Afghanistan, Iran and Myanmar as friendly neighbors, they chose not to for various reasons, possibly including the situation with the Taliban.
The "Neighbourhood First" policy, has been in place since 2008. Manmohan Singh in 2009, didn't make use of it duing his swearing-in, and Modi makes it part of his.
The media often takes information out of context, making it seem like Pakistan was excluded, when in reality, Pakistan was only part of the official theme in 2014, when SAARC leaders were invited.
