TVR's Video: • An Iced Up Gold Mine M...
There's nothing better than walking into a mine that hasn't been explored in decades. But normally, mines that meet this criterion are difficult to access because they're collapsed, very remote, or require vertical gear and expertise. Well the Yukon Mine has been left alone for a different reason. Much of this mine's 5,000 ft. long crosscut adit is half-filled with solid ice. Treacherous ice. The ice was rock hard, ice cold (duh), and was embedded with small abrasive rocks that had fallen down from the back. Oh and the effective height of the tunnel was only 3 feet... Needless to say, the 2,000 ft. journey through the ice-filled adit was excruciating, but also comedic in hindsight. After 2,000 very long feet, the ice dissipated and we were able to walk normally again for about 100 ft. before finding over 3 ft. of water dammed up behind a blockage. What fun!
Well after another 3,000 ft. of deep water, we found ourselves above the water level and on a nice, sturdy drift. Luckily for us, our troubles were well-worth the rewards we were about to find. This drift appeared to be frozen in time, just like the ice-filled haulage adit but in a metaphorical sense. We found tools, 1940's equipment, dynamite and even a large tool skip! We were glad to have the rare opportunity to document a mine that may never be explored again, with how horrible the access is.
I hope you enjoyed! Please like and subscribe for more content!

I give you guys a lot of credit. I visited an abandoned mine in Alaska in 2019. Very interesting, all equipment left at end of WWII. The shaft was gated about 100 feet in. The cold dampness coming from inside was almost painful and it was July. Thanks for making this video. In the interest of self preservation I wouldn't do what you are doing.

The 'U' shaped anchors are called 'Bull horns' in the mines of Timmins Canada.

I just love your photography. Thank you for sharing. It provides a unique perspective that isn’t availability in most other mine exploration channels. Keep up the FANTASTIC work!

Should look up the A.J. in Juneau! Something like 200 miles in tunnels in that mountain in like 3 different mines that run into eachother

Did your feet get numb? Those small kegs stay intact because the moisture swelled the slats. In dry mines, they fall apart. Alaska? Your idea or Justin’s? Lotsa relics everywhere you look. Now, I’ll have to checkout Justin’s version. Thank you!!

My feet were okay, but my hands were beyond numb. We had to crawl on the ice because there wasn’t enough room to stand up. It was actually our third friend’s idea to go in here. Definitely check out Justin’s video, it shows much more of the treacherous ice.

That tool skip is impressive .. and if its still on its cable, there should be a winch and who knows what else at the top!!! Now my curiosity is lit!

Some serious amounts of dynamite there. Probably a good job it's so wet in there. Those empty boxes are amazing though.

That looks like 60% nitro Red Cross powder. Used a lot in mines, blasting caps probably fuse as electric caps were not used as much .

Cool. Do you know the name of this mine from usgs records? It would be fun to know the history of it and what they were digging.
