- Elisabeth Beyer’s 1st Place Performance of the “Grand Pas Classique” Variation at the Youth America Grand Pix 2018 New York Finals in the Senior Women Category.
Ellison Ballet student Elisabeth Beyer has had a great year in ballet competitions. She took 1st place at the prestigious Moscow International Ballet Competition in the Girl’s Solo Division. Elisabeth also won the gold medal at the USA International Ballet Competition at Jackson, Mississippi.

Simply perfect.
Absolutely breathtaking. I loved the height in her pas de chat, and the way she lingers en pointe before gracefully dismounting. She looks weightless and free as a bird - exactly how a ballerina should be.

I do not have an extensive or authoritative background in any aspect of dance or ballet. However I do have eyes, I have watched quite a few hours of ballet, and I work at various athletic and musical pursuits. My impression is that this young woman is doing very difficult moves with flawless execution. I am amazed. Even with heaps of natural talent, such perfect control is only attained with countless hours of disciplined perfect practice. I am inspired. Congratulations to this young woman on her accomplishment. I wish her a wonderful career.
Same boat. Absolutely no dance background, but I found an easy way to see just how difficult what she's doing is: try lifting your knee to hip height, then extending to your full leg length slowly under control. Without setting down, do it again, but with your knee and leg extension as high as you can go. Then just think about what she's doing here...

Agree. I love to see that specific sequence of turns in this variation held like this and not rushed through, and a lot of ballerinas rush this part. OTOH, this is a fairly slow tempo, which gives her time to suspend. There's a really good video of Guillem doing this, I think that's why I thought to compare her to a young Guillem.

This is incredible and there some really hard steps in that dance but she handled it super well!
She looks like a very young Sylvie Guillem. Polished, classy, and technically superb. She even handles that slight over-turn on the fondu/battement releve (is that the right term?) well. Obviously also coached very well with so many nice details you would only expect from a much more mature dancer. A well-deserved win. Where is she dancing now?
I believe she's still a student at Ellison Ballet. She was just 16 here.

I was also thinking "Guillem" as I watched. IMHO Guillem's Grand Pas is the gold standard and Beyer comes very close with her technically perfect, beautifully musical and charming performance.
She was the gold medalist winner at the International Moscow Ballet Competition in 2017

@@beatapogorzelska1241 Yes, it's becoming a difficult world, esp in the Russian companies, if you're proportioned like a normal person! I've seen Marianela Nunez guest over there (one of the greatest ballerinas dancing today and my personal favorite) but I wonder if she would have made the cut for any of the academies there. She's proportioned beautifully but not like, say, Zakhorova.
