Hi Gayna, I am one of your older viewers - I am 73. I was born in Surrey, England and moved to Canada with my parents and sister when I was 14. I now live just outside Vancouver. I have been watching your podcasts for a few years now but don’t often comment. I love your home and the scenery and watch while I’m knitting. I have a wonderful grown daughter and son, but no grandchildren. I really enjoy seeing your boys! I have a 3 year old miniature schnauzer who is wonderful company and keeps me going on good long walks. My husband passed away when we were in our fifties so I have had to make a different life for myself. I have lots of friends and belong to a great knit group. I’m not sure you needed to know all of that but you asked for comments about age and I got a bit carried away! Love your podcast as it has knitting, but love the animals and cooking and you! ❤
Hi Gayna, I am definitely one of your older viewers at age 64. My children are grown and making their own homes with their young families. I am retired and enjoy many of the same hobbies that you enjoy. I craft, sew, cook, garden etc. I watch from the east coast of the US, but our climates are similar enough, that I have learned a lot about gardening from you. I just love your vlogs and I have been watching for a very long time.
Hi Gayna! I’ve been watching for many years now. I just turned 55 yesterday and live in Quebec Canada. I’m also a chicken mom, have a white golden doodle and two rescue cats. I enjoy gardening but this year haven’t been able to keep up. I am recovering from having a radical hysterectomy due to uterine cancer. I’m on the mend and look forward to catching up on my knitting and CZcams.
Sounds like this is your season to tend to your health and body rather than the garden. It’ll all still be there when you’re ready to get out in it again, enjoy putting your feet up xxx

Loved the chickens and thanks for the review on the stick vacuum. Put it in my cart for a Prime Day purchase. My dog sheds so much and it’s a pain to get the big vacuum out all the time. I’m just hitting 60 this year and have become an empty nester recently. Planning on going back into the work force as a substitute teacher just so I don’t get bored but I do love my knitting/crafting time.
Hi Gayna, I am a long-time viewer. I am 61 and live outside of Philadelphia in the States. I've always been single and currently live with 2 cats. My friend Carla and I talk about how much we wished you were our neighbor, since you seem like such a lovely, kind person. Saucers of beer will help to eradicate slugs. They are attracted to the beer, crawl in and drown. A sad death, but not painful for them. I do love chickens as well. They have such funny personalities and make the best sounds. You could tie a different color of string or yarn around one of their ankles to help identify them, or even paint a toenail or two. We had good luck with either in helping to keep who was who.
Hi Gayna, I only discovered you half a year ago from a friend who knows I like things English as I live in America but my boyfriend is in Surrey. You and I are the same age. Your life is so different than mine right down to the temperature. I have no kids and have never been married. I wander quite a lot, careers, jobs and states. I love seeing such a different perspective. Your hens are very lovely. They’re so lucky to be with you now!

Try going out at night with a light to find the slugs out and about in your veg garden. You could feed them to your chickens. Children can sometimes be bribed to find slugs too. (It would make funny vlog content?)

Hi Gayna , great vlog. I’m from Northern Ireland and am 67 and enjoy the range of things that you cover in your vlog. I knit ,sew and garden. So cross that slugs have destroyed so many plants, I go on a slug hunt early morning and late evening and still they chomp the plants. My husband thinks I’m nuts because I count how many slugs I’ve collected and so far this year it’s over 1500 and chuck them in the ditches in the surrounding fields, he says they are the same ones having returned to bug me . Your garden looks amazing.

They are little thugs lately!! They peck at my feet and legs so hard that I have to be careful what I wear when I visit them. They’ve drawn blood!!! They have great little characters now too. I love them!

We started with 6 chooks, and then we went to an agricultural show...came home with 3 pairs of 3 different breeds of chooks and a couple of ducks!!! Added some geese a couple months later 😅 After a year we had around 100 chooks and chick's!!! Ducklings, goslings... chickens with chick's AND ducklings under them it was a total madhouse and utterly wonderful!! ❤

Hi Gayna! I’m watching from rainy and dreary southern Australia and loved seeing your garden while mine is all dormant! Your new chickens are so precious! We’re pretty new to chicken keeping and love our six chickens that are now about 8 months old. We had a couple trying to sleep in the nesting boxes as well and blocked them off for a few weeks so they would go on the perch. They all seem to get it again and no one is sleeping in there! Oh, and I’m 44, married to my husband for 24 years and we have two sons, almost 20 and 16 years so I feel like i can relate to your family dynamic and love watching your vlogs. Enjoy your new stick vacuum, they’re so handy! I shared about my robot vac and its issues during vlogmas and after giving it a big reset its been working wonderfully, despite the dog hair that clogs it up 😂

Hi Gayna, I have had good luck with copper mesh to deter slugs and snails. I use it in my hoophouse by laying it on the edges of the boards ( have raised beds about 2 feet high) It comes in a roll. So nice to see you! Susannah (oh yes, 68 years in Vermont, US 😊)

I sadly never got to have children 😞 I’ve got MS from I was a teen , luckily it’s mild , but it gives me chronic fatigue I see my sweet dog as my child , my Flora when adopted was 3 ( now 8 years old ) and she is my 2. Rescued dog from Bosnia , sadly I lost my Muffin after only 4,5 years, she had a hard start of life on the street the first 2 years before I rescued her , and she had to deal with a lot that needed vet visit multiple times, but I’m glad she was happy despite it , she got all the best love and care while she was here ❤ My passion is supporting stray dogs , knitting , go on recycling hunting , im an old soul that loves vintage items , just like lovely Mrs d 😍 Thank you for Sharing ❤ looking forward to watch if you decide to make daily vlogs ❤

How old is old? 😂 I'm 52 and have been watching since before COVID but don't ask be how long before as everything is "the other day" 😆 I live in Dorset in a town that you mentioned on the podcast before . I don't like gardening either but I've been really good this year and made it kind of tidy and put lots of flowers and shrubs in. I bought one of the hoovers, couldn't do it on prime days but still got it at 30% off. Love it so much I've just bought another one for mother in law who I help care for. Her hoover is really big and heavy so we all struggle to get it upstairs. Going to give the old one to one of the youngins who can heft it around. Most of us have long hair and it copes well with that as well as general toddler debris when my granddaughter comes to visit. My sister has bantums, bloody things hate me I swear 😅 If I go in the pen I wear my brother in law's size 13 wellies so they don't take out my ankles. They live in a house owned by the farm so are out in a tiny village. They have a loads of hassle with foxes and especially rats. Feral cats have been causing trouble lately as well.
How old is old you ask? Times wobbly and I still think I’m 26! Glad the hoover is working out, I’m still happy with ours too. My dad tried Stick at his house but it was no match for his carpet and dogs long hair…but then nothing is. He has to get the tufts up with a rubber glove.

I enjoy your journey with your boys as it reminds me of my life. My middle son at the moment is battling cancer and it has been so traumatic for everyone as he is so young with a beautiful family of his own. The teen years are not as bad as I was expecting, at least not so far. Yes they do all the annoying things like cups and plates in their rooms, filth in the shower, hormonal outbursts but mostly they are lovely lads and their mates are all fabulous too. But ask me tomorrow and I might say different!
Hi I loved seeing the chickens, my Granddaughter goes to a forest school and they have chickens which the children look after. She loves them so much, lots of chicken cuddles. I’m 67 in a couple of weeks and love the humour in your videos, I live by the sea in the north of England and we have had such wintery weather the last few weeks, 12 degrees with a north wind off the sea, not good at all. Hiya 👋 I’m 48 but feel like I’m still 16 - ha! With regards to the skirt elastic - could you run another couple of rows of stitching along the back waistband to get it a bit more under your control? I usually do 3 rows of topstitching and find that not only does it make the gathering look better, it prevents rolling etc. I think it looked fabulous regardless but it might irritate you less if it’s got another couple of rows (one above and one below the row you’ve already done)👍 Love the chickens 🐓

I have been watching your podcasts for a few years now but don’t often comment. I love your home and the scenery and watch while I’m knitting. I have a wonderful grown daughter and son, but no grandchildren. I really enjoy seeing your boys! I have a 3 year old miniature schnauzer who is wonderful company and keeps me going on good long walks. My husband passed away when we were in our fifties so I have had to make a different life for myself. I have lots of friends and belong to a great knit group. I’m not sure you needed to know all of that but you asked for comments about age and I got a bit carried away! Love your podcast as it has knitting, but love the animals and cooking and you! ❤

Hi Gayna! I’ve been watching for many years now. I just turned 55 yesterday and live in Quebec Canada. I’m also a chicken mom, have a white golden doodle and two rescue cats. I enjoy gardening but this year haven’t been able to keep up. I am recovering from having a radical hysterectomy due to uterine cancer. I’m on the mend and look forward to catching up on my knitting and CZcams.

Loved the chickens and thanks for the review on the stick vacuum. Put it in my cart for a Prime Day purchase. My dog sheds so much and it’s a pain to get the big vacuum out all the time. I’m just hitting 60 this year and have become an empty nester recently. Planning on going back into the work force as a substitute teacher just so I don’t get bored but I do love my knitting/crafting time.

Saucers of beer will help to eradicate slugs. They are attracted to the beer, crawl in and drown. A sad death, but not painful for them.
I do love chickens as well. They have such funny personalities and make the best sounds. You could tie a different color of string or yarn around one of their ankles to help identify them, or even paint a toenail or two. We had good luck with either in helping to keep who was who.

Try going out at night with a light to find the slugs out and about in your veg garden. You could feed them to your chickens. Children can sometimes be bribed to find slugs too. (It would make funny vlog content?)

Hi Gayna , great vlog. I’m from Northern Ireland and am 67 and enjoy the range of things that you cover in your vlog. I knit ,sew and garden. So cross that slugs have destroyed so many plants, I go on a slug hunt early morning and late evening and still they chomp the plants. My husband thinks I’m nuts because I count how many slugs I’ve collected and so far this year it’s over 1500 and chuck them in the ditches in the surrounding fields, he says they are the same ones having returned to bug me . Your garden looks amazing.

They are little thugs lately!! They peck at my feet and legs so hard that I have to be careful what I wear when I visit them. They’ve drawn blood!!! They have great little characters now too. I love them!

We started with 6 chooks, and then we went to an agricultural show...came home with 3 pairs of 3 different breeds of chooks and a couple of ducks!!! Added some geese a couple months later 😅 After a year we had around 100 chooks and chick's!!! Ducklings, goslings... chickens with chick's AND ducklings under them it was a total madhouse and utterly wonderful!! ❤

Hi Gayna! I’m watching from rainy and dreary southern Australia and loved seeing your garden while mine is all dormant! Your new chickens are so precious! We’re pretty new to chicken keeping and love our six chickens that are now about 8 months old. We had a couple trying to sleep in the nesting boxes as well and blocked them off for a few weeks so they would go on the perch. They all seem to get it again and no one is sleeping in there! Oh, and I’m 44, married to my husband for 24 years and we have two sons, almost 20 and 16 years so I feel like i can relate to your family dynamic and love watching your vlogs. Enjoy your new stick vacuum, they’re so handy! I shared about my robot vac and its issues during vlogmas and after giving it a big reset its been working wonderfully, despite the dog hair that clogs it up 😂

Hi Gayna, I have had good luck with copper mesh to deter slugs and snails. I use it in my hoophouse by laying it on the edges of the boards ( have raised beds about 2 feet high) It comes in a roll. So nice to see you! Susannah (oh yes, 68 years in Vermont, US 😊)

I sadly never got to have children 😞 I’ve got MS from I was a teen , luckily it’s mild , but it gives me chronic fatigue I see my sweet dog as my child , my Flora when adopted was 3 ( now 8 years old ) and she is my 2. Rescued dog from Bosnia , sadly I lost my Muffin after only 4,5 years, she had a hard start of life on the street the first 2 years before I rescued her , and she had to deal with a lot that needed vet visit multiple times, but I’m glad she was happy despite it , she got all the best love and care while she was here ❤ My passion is supporting stray dogs , knitting , go on recycling hunting , im an old soul that loves vintage items , just like lovely Mrs d 😍 Thank you for Sharing ❤ looking forward to watch if you decide to make daily vlogs ❤

I don't like gardening either but I've been really good this year and made it kind of tidy and put lots of flowers and shrubs in.
I bought one of the hoovers, couldn't do it on prime days but still got it at 30% off. Love it so much I've just bought another one for mother in law who I help care for. Her hoover is really big and heavy so we all struggle to get it upstairs. Going to give the old one to one of the youngins who can heft it around. Most of us have long hair and it copes well with that as well as general toddler debris when my granddaughter comes to visit.
My sister has bantums, bloody things hate me I swear 😅 If I go in the pen I wear my brother in law's size 13 wellies so they don't take out my ankles. They live in a house owned by the farm so are out in a tiny village. They have a loads of hassle with foxes and especially rats. Feral cats have been causing trouble lately as well.
How old is old you ask? Times wobbly and I still think I’m 26! Glad the hoover is working out, I’m still happy with ours too. My dad tried Stick at his house but it was no match for his carpet and dogs long hair…but then nothing is. He has to get the tufts up with a rubber glove.

My husband loves you as much as I do. We enjoy your family very much. We are early sixties and married 38 years. We had children quite late, so our home is still full. Our children are in university and or working to save for their future. Thanks for the vlog.

Hi Gayna. Loving your podcasts, I’m 67 living on the Scottish Borders overlooking the Solway and Lake District. Your chickens bring back so many good memories of my grandmas chickens they lived in Cluckingham palace and were so spoilt. My job was collecting the eggs I remember being so scared of one of them. I’ve brought up five children and loved a hectic home, tiring but wouldn’t have changed a thing. I look forward to all your future adventures x

Hello Gayna. I'm 76, married for 55 years and live in Portsmouth UK. I've been watching you for years and love watching your family life and memories of when we lived near Weston super Mare. Our son lives in Bath and the other one in Sydney Oz we have a daughter too who lives nearby. We have two granddaughters living with us at the moment, one who's 21 and over from Australia for a few years and the other who's 22 and local but going off to Australia for a year in September. Hi Gayna. I am 73 and live in Bristol ( just off the Downs ) you know well, with second husband who is 63 years old ( toy boy 😂 ) We have 3 grown men and 5 grandchildren who are an absolute joy. I enjoy your journey with your boys as it reminds me of my life. My middle son at the moment is battling cancer and it has been so traumatic for everyone as he is so young with a beautiful family of his own. Enjoy every moment with your family and don’t sweat the small stuff because it doesn’t really matter

Yes, haven’t the slugs been terrible this year? I planted 7 courgette plants in total and they’ve all been nommed right down to the soil. So great to see you so happy with your hens 🧡

Hi Gayna, lovely garden, I also have rescue hens and you can’t help but love them. I’m 73, have 2 wonderful sons, 2 lovely daughter in laws and 3 gorgeous granddaughters. Love to watch your videos, I wish you were my daughter, I would help with all that laundry and you could teach me how to knit socks. But, I live too far away, I live in a small village near Sheffield, surrounded by fields, highland cows and lovely neighbours. The teen years are not as bad as I was expecting, at least not so far. Yes they do all the annoying things like cups and plates in their rooms, filth in the shower, hormonal outbursts but mostly they are lovely lads and their mates are all fabulous too. But ask me tomorrow and I might say different!
Hi I loved seeing the chickens, my Granddaughter goes to a forest school and they have chickens which the children look after. She loves them so much, lots of chicken cuddles. I’m 67 in a couple of weeks and love the humour in your videos, I live by the sea in the north of England and we have had such wintery weather the last few weeks, 12 degrees with a north wind off the sea, not good at all. Hiya 👋 I’m 48 but feel like I’m still 16 - ha! With regards to the skirt elastic - could you run another couple of rows of stitching along the back waistband to get it a bit more under your control? I usually do 3 rows of topstitching and find that not only does it make the gathering look better, it prevents rolling etc. I think it looked fabulous regardless but it might irritate you less if it’s got another couple of rows (one above and one below the row you’ve already done)👍 Love the chickens 🐓
I need to fathom how to get in unrolled and then anchor it in place. It’s so annoying as the elastic is supposed to be roll proof xxx

I’ve just finished the Mysterium Tee and the sleeves are just like the ones on your top, I think they’ll be easier to sort out though. Take care till next time. Xx
