Casual Mode = Everyone use the same score measurement in the match.
Compete Mode = Everyone use their own and unique gear.
But if they still vote compete mode, it will still be unfair. So be awared of that.

But in this case the item or gear is always with you and gives you a lot of advantage, a lot more than Smash. most of us just play the maps to just farm coins and buy notes, legendary gears, etc.
can’t forget the times when my gear upgrade failed, and I have to keep farming over and over again. that was absolute pain

@elements gaming123 for upgrading for the first time on a +6, I used 2 upgrade protect, 2 boost, and 2 green gems, twice with a 90% and failed on both. Total 1% chance to happen on BOTH times and I’ve never upgraded above +6 before ;-; so I’m a dirt poor person.
fr, robeats has a special place in my heart since it was my first rhythm game but you didn't need skill, just gear- and that ruined the game for me.

they get removed to avoid a copyright claim by the original artists as the developers did not have permission to use it. That's why they get replaced with licensed music, if anyone is wondering why their old songs gets removed or replaced

Robeats is not that fun anymore because the gear. Just pay to get coins or stars and you can just get gear which is overpowered. You need skill yeah but with gear it makes the game easier for you.

I'm honestly kind of impressed that they somehow managed to make a rhythm game pay-to-win
I used to dedicate my heart and soul into Robeats, I used to be one of the best players back in release. When galaxy collapse came out, I got top 75 in score with only around 300 gear power (I also got A+). The game was completely ruined for me when all the good songs were made for only VIP users and all the songs I spent so long doing and trying to get would just dissappear (like pine nut, or zen zen zense.) Gears were disgusting and I went against people with 20x gear multiplier and I just couldn't handle it anymore and I quit around a year and a half ago. I still log on every once and a while but I would KILL for a good Robeats experience again.
(If you are looking for a decent Robeats experience, I highly recommend RCS.)

I haven't played for about 2 years, I decided to check it out and holy was the atmosphere different. Songs gone, new gear functions. For me I think the downfall was the gear system change and the removal of songs which had to happen there wasn't really anything they could do. I remember the game still had 10k people playing. Good old days.
When I started to play RoBeats, I thought it's very different compared to many other rhythm games. For example, I'll be using osu, since many of you are familiar with it. I thought it was RIDICULOUS how RoBeats even had the idea of "gear", compared to osu where everything is calculated by your skills. I thought it was stupid as fuck, but I still played it anyways. Yes it pokes me in the ass when some dude misses half of the map but beats me because of their gear power, but it's still a fun game in the end. Although, if gear didn't exist, it would be way more fun than it is now. And maybe, just maybe, people out of Roblox would download Roblox JUST to play Robeats because honestly it has so much potential that has been wasted by greed.
RoBeats is my first rhythm game, and because of this game, I got encouraged to play StepMania, Osu!Mania, Etterna, and Quaver
(Also Friday Night Funkin', but arguably, the game is not that much challenging including 89% of mods out there, so it's excluded. It's more of my past time and when my fingers are tired)
Problems with robeats:
1. Gear
2. You have to BUY songs
3. P2w

man robeats. the game that kept me through 2020. It sucks how the songs there are now tracks and not actual songs because of copyright. Every single song that i used to play in my inventory are gone.
I used lo love Robeats, like I would play nothing else for weeks, but once they started to do artist songs that were sponsored, I left and don’t play rhythm games much anymore.
I have been a player for about 4 years, But I had quit robeats due to how unplayable it was on my tablet (I couldn't switch devices because I didn't own a computer), but the gear and updates are also something that had ruined it for me.
They also removed lots of songs I enjoy often (which I can't really blame them for due to the copyright rules..)
It's also pretty cash-grabby, and you can kind of see it during the time you have to wait after you leave a public match. It's about 50 robux I believe to skip just 5 minutes of waiting and eh.. VIP was also pretty expensive and ranged from about 400(?) To 1,200 Robux, I honestly don't think the price should go up that high for how much VIP gets you.
I miss being able to play robeats enjoyably but i don't really see myself doing it in the future, though it was fun making friends and playing songs and matches with them.
I quit robeats bc the accuracy system is dumpster fire imo

I get spotco is a dev and needs money and all but gears are his way of milking extra money. I want just purely skill-based. Tho fair warning my viewpoint is very limited and narrow like sign, i wanna move from robeats and im at a dumb skill lock like him, although i’m definetely not as good as sign.
Gear nerf and gear buff isn’t the objective thing I’m hating on, if everyone has the same gear we could argue that everyone has the same advantage similar to how if everyone can farm maps should everyone have the same advantage to get ez points in a performance system. But we don’t, people with more robux have much better gear, its evident, and has gotten worse over the time robeats existed. Remember, we are hating on *the aggressive monetization* of robeats supporting p2w and its corruption.Gear overall steals updates, prevents actual good performance from being recognized, displaces time on skill improvements with secondary actions, etc. Gear nerf is bad because it supports over monetization. You lose a lot of gear you are going to try to regain it right? You gain gear but you are still feeding spotco money… The focus becomes an end goal is to have a complete gear set of the elements and win the leaderboards with it. But again, this video talks about the over monetization of robeats and gear is just one, although major aspect of it.

The elemental update didn't hit me as hard until I returned to the game after playing FNF games. Jesus christ, I can't even get an A on Staring at Star anymore. Same thing with Dark Sheep.

I commented about a false ban I got on my account on one of your videos a few months ago and I never got unbanned. Spotco told me that I was banned for exploiting but he never really presented any evidence, so yeah, the moderation is pretty bad. Glad I got banned from this game, really. It seems like this game went downhill really fast after I got falsely banned.

This update was the developer's fault, Idk why did they thought adding gears was a good idea, rhythm games are suppose to based on skill. The thing that I also don't like about RoBeats is that the songs you have to pay, unlike other rhythm games (like osu), they are free and you need real money to buy it or anything. Their title won't last forever anymore if the gears are still in the game.

yeah the amount of times i've purchased songs from the song shop, and then the next day the songs are just removed and i get no money back its super annoying. i started playing the game maybe like a month before they added that remix update because they were getting copyrighted, so maybe 2018 I started playing but all of my songs that used to be hard, like "you belong with me" by taylor swift was once level 9 and it was my favorite to play as a beginner, then it got remixed and now its level 2. the developers now only care about money and not the players

Anyway, for those who still don't know or are confused,
Casual mode is a mode where you compete with other players "fairly" regardless of gear, and speaking of gear.. No. Gear isn't used in this mode. It's more of combo & accuracy (and whoever gets the most out of their fever lol) based. As long as this mode is on, regardless of how high or low your gear is, it doesn't work for the selected mode.
Compete mode is like the usual before the update. You use gears to compete, they said it's mainly done for high scores, leaderboards, and missions (and total gear abuse to be a dick :v).
If there's 1 player who is in a different mode than the other, there will be a selection (like what happens when 2 players ready with 2 different songs) where you choose to do casual or compete, and the song choice obviously being there.
I still consider it sorta p2w since the songs are still hard to get as usual, you never really get what you want when the shop gets a restock, but they "kind of" fixed a bit of fairplay for gears now.

Robeats is good for getting into rhythm games. Maps from 1-26 are okay to practice on robeats. But beyond that, Like what everyone else suggested, Robeats cs will help you improve better, but mostly for harder songs.

I guess another reason robeats fell from grace is cause to get the green sword in rb battles season 2 u had to have 4 different songs that would have required some sort of grinding to do and one of them was a rare song as well and u needed a bunch of different gears and it was sorta buggy when the update just came out.

Robeats was the first rhythm game i play on roblox but it got boring when spotco kept updating songs. and elemental gears :(( most people quit robeats bc their fav songs get remove/replace just play some other games like tower defends or some rpg games :D
Now that casual mode and compete mode is added, it adds more fairness to the game making it more enjoyable

i personally don’t play robeats for the competition, i play because i like the songs. yeah, it’s annoying playing against people who get thousands of points per note, who suck and just spam. but whatever, i still play cause it’s fun.

People complain about how much Robeat players rely on spending Robux to get anything, then there's Sandbox where you literally can't do anything unless you pay for at least the first VIP. Though Sandbox has been dying off since admins and failed "community" bs have been implemented.
