The paintball sign is no longer there. I was very happy to take that sign down lol

Hi Jon and the lovely Heather, what a beautiful town, I loved all the old architecture there and I also loved the stained glass rose, wasn't it pretty and very well made. Davy Crockett's old boyhood home was my favourite place though, when you consider how long that building has stood for and all the history it's witnessed through the years it blows your mind. Thank you so much for taking us along and it's always good to see Heather in your video's. xx

That “building” you were talking about is actually a parking structure that was built several years back. It was designed to look that way. Jersey Girl is a good place to eat. Hassan-Bryant used to be the old hardware store in downtown.

@@linak7155 people here really enjoy the lakes but there are several parks in the area. There is also 'Pickin' in the Park' at Fred Miller park, many car shows- every Saturday around town. The 4th of July fireworks at Cherokee Park is a favorite as well. Im not absolutely sure about the 'pickin' in the Park' or the movies they show at Fred Miller with the pandemic but im sure they will have it soon if not already. Usually a strawberry festival but haven't heard about it this year, grainger county also has a tomato festival. 'Cooter Days' (I thinks is correct name) in Bulls Gap put on by Cooter from Dukes of Hazzard. Archie Cambell days is also held in Bulls Gap. I hope you enjoy it here! Lived here all my life and couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

Awesome video, at 540 at that corner you cut off pretty much if you was to have went up that hill then across Thu street, was where thu skatepark use to be, pretty much between thu police department and thu courthouse is where thu skatepark use to be, I wish it still was there, it sucks they moved it, now if you skateboard its miles and miles away, you have to drive there to get there, where it's now is at franklorino park, across morristown mall, thu bridge, and you see it to your right all that land, pretty much I hope they move Thu skatepark close to town where it should be for more skateboarders to skateboard, cause eversense they moved it, theres not many skateboarders left, just me my friends and a few kids getting in to it. I've tryd getting Thu skatepark moved but they don't listen. Maybe I can get people to help me soon, hope to.

O yeah at 1500 that being a park soon, very big space, I asked thu recreation folks about that park and they said its gonna be a park soon, then I said are yall putting a skatepark there, and they said yeah at first, then they I heard had a meeting about it and I heard they pretty much gave up on it and said they didn't have enough space for a skatepark. It broke my heart to when I heard that news cause that would be perfect for a skatepark to be at, and skateboarders wouldn't have to go to far or wonder where it's at.

I can remember when I was a little girl going to the store with my Pawpaw and I use to love the old cloth green & white striped awnings . Why I don't know , but I did . They even had some cloth Coca Cola signs too . You use to see them around Atlanta . Atlanta has changed a lot though since I was a little girl . Thanks Jon & Heather for taking us along on your beautiful trip .

  • @cardinaloflannagancr8929

Really enjoyed the video great scenery and commentary there is quite a mix of design going on. Also there's a few reasons they'll brick up extra outside light or vent window not needed for better lighting and AC. On upper floors like that I've seen allot of places rent it as warehouse/storage space. Sometimes older windows are odd sizes and a home owner or business in this case won't have the time or money to wait for custom replacement. I see this quite abit with older homes around me where they use siding or brick and install a regular vs long window frame.

The building at 4 minutes and 43 seconds is actually a brand new structure built by the city during the “Save Downtown” movement. Previously, there stood a pool hall and restaurant that got run down and unsafe. They tore that building down to build this new parking garage. They made the facade to look as if it is a historic building itself. It’s no more than 10 years old! Just a parking garage!

Any time you see windows above the street level bricked up or boarded up, that means those floors are abandoned. You can ask the ground floor tenant if they have access to it, or get the name of the landlord. They are probably not structurally unsound. The roof has to be maintained to protect the valuable real estate on the ground floor. They can't just let the upper floors deteriorate.
