My biggest issue is that y'all never stopped talking to hear the actual lyrics of the song and how deep they actually go.
Also not just reacting, but trying to guess "oh, it's the chorus/bridge/breakdown coming up now?" - it totally takes away from the impact of those parts for me. That being said I did like Wyatt's reactions and responses to what was going on at times, but it felt like them talking so much felt like they weren't able to really feel the song

I think you guys have this premeditated distaste for rapping in it but listen to what he's saying it's such a beautiful perspective into his mind and if you go in with more of an open mind to his rapping and really listen to it you will love it. This song is so fucking cool and better than 99% of music in existence right now. It's so different and just ahhh so good. Like so fucking genius in the arrangement of the song.
I feel like it's more about mental health (more-specifically depression) and how you feel when you have depression. The first line 'I wake up every morning with my head up in a daze' is how people who suffer from depression feel like. Like they aren't really living life, and they're just in this constant daze where all the days are blurred into one, and they forget what day it is. He talks about people thinking he's 'just going through a phase' and I think that's true for people who don'tI feel like it's more about mental health (more-specifically depression) and how you feel when you have depression. The first line 'I wake up every morning feeling like I'm in a daze' is how people who suffer from depression feel. Like they aren't really living life, and they're just in this constant daze where all the days are blurred into one and they forget what day it is. You shut people out, and when you finally decide to open up a little bit, they give you a reason not to (again, bc they just don't understand how you feel) and you put up walls again and shut everyone out again. When he says, 'I'm a liar,' I think it's talking about he's lying to everyone and himself that he's okay, and he isn't allowing himself to feel his emotions. People who struggle with depression are masters of putting on a mask that they're okay and that there's nothing wrong, when in reality, sometimes that couldn't be further from the truth. And I think it's called 'Popular Monster' bc a lot of people struggle with depression, and this song is kinda saying you're not alone. Also, I feel like his daughter is a recurring thing in his music, even though I've only listened to two, the only other one being Drugs. I think in this one, it's saying his daughter helped him overcome depression. That's just my interpretation \_(-_-)_/

I’m not a big fan but I like Losing My Life more.
Losing My Life is better imo. Recently at least. His earlier stuff with Escape the Fate and the first Falling in Reverse album were both better in general imo than newer records.

So I think the reason for the structure is that it mirrors a literary structure. The story starts slowly then builds to a peak, then the action drops, builds again and the story continues to build until the final climactic moments then the story settles and tapers off, or sets up for a sequel. This is definitely a story telling song and video so it makes sense to have the music follow the same pattern. Everything is so well timed in this it’s crazy, from bodies dropping with a beat to having a drum tattoo timed perfectly with bullet spray. It’s insane and I love it!

There’s this SUPER underrated band called Glasslands that you gotta check out.They don’t go as hard or have as much screaming as most of the songs you react to, but they’re definitely worth giving a shot. Their most popular and imo best song is Deadman. Another good place to start is their newest single Silent Prey, or if u want something that goes a bit harder then Meaningless or Back and Forth are great options.
