    I bought the Hotone Ampero stomp last November at Black Friday for 300€ and it was the biggest deal of my life.
    I also bought the dual footswitch and I use It as an Up patch or down patch with the ampero always in stomp mode.
    My first patch is a clean sound with the three switches with a drive, delay and reverb control, second patch with overdrive, third patch with distortion and last patch with lead tone.
    Using all of that I can use every tone option I need for gigging and It is amazing how simple and easy It is to get great tones.
    Personally I dont have that tunner issue.
    I recomend the Hotone Ampero Stomp 100% and I wish that John Will keep doing videos of this moddeler because It is GREAT.
    Thank you for reading this commet ❤

    Hi John
    your videos regarding the ampero stomp convinced me to get one.I have the unit for quite a while now and it serves me well.
    In terms of having scenes and seamless switching , using a midi controller would be a decent work around for this issue. Calling patches via midi would lessen the bleeps and hiccup by a few but significant ms (to my ears).

    I own one of these Ampero II Stomp. For me, and my personal uses of it, is just ideal. Here in Mexico it's price is about the same as the HX Stomp, which doesn't quite put it in the same territory as the Valeton or the Mooer stuff (that revolves on about half the price over here). I use the Ampero mainly as a fly-rig substitute for my Deluxe Reverb, and get my effects from individual pedals. Not a single time have I been disappointed by it. Anyways, I never change presets or many effects on it while playing live, so I don't really care about the bugs. When compared to the HX Stomp, I much prefer the Ampero's option of having separately the options for the preamp and power amp, which allow to create very touch-responsive and natural-sounding amp presets. Also, having Celestion IRs right away from factory is another great point to consider. So, yeah, arguably one of the best inexpensive-ish modelers out there.

    USE A MIDI FOOTSWITCH!!! I agree with other commenters. The Valeton GP200LT has in my opinion the exact same amp model sounds as the Ampero. I A/B tested and couldn’t tell the difference and it’s half the price. If you use a midi switch there is zero patch changing issues. Super underrated

    I've been a HX Stomp user for a while. Decided to buy the hotone Ampero Mini for $200 USD as a potential amp modeler only (I would integrate with my board of drive pedals and wet Fx). And I have to say the quality of the amp sims have far exceeded my expectations. Especially for the high gain metal tones. Effects seem like an afterthought to me - still usable, but overall I didn't buy for FX. I've tried a few cheap modelers: NUX, Mooer, JOYO, and by far the Hotone was the most inspiring. Very intuitive UI as well.

    I have had a Fractal AX8 and I have a Line 6 Stomp. I purchased the Ampero Stomp based on sounds I heard on the You Tube reviews. It didn't disappoint. I find that the Ampero Stomp has fantastic sounds right out of the box and I find it very easy to create fantastic presets myself. It does has it's shortcomings though. I bought an Ampero Control and discovered that it doesn't work properly with the Ampero Stomp (switching wrong sounds and banks and generally unreliable switching). I reported this to Ampero Support and got nil response. (Note that the Ampero Control works fine with the Line 6 Stomp). I can't understand why Ampero keep releasing new products when their existing ones have bugs that they don't appear to be addressing.

      I've also had a PodGo. It's a great pedal and more or less a Line 6 Stomp just has limitations. All I can say is that the sounds of the Ampero Stomp seem just so much better and more easily achieved than the Line 6 family. Line 6 products have so much more depth and available adjustments but the Ampero just sounds so good. Personally I would probably use the Ampero Stomp as the amp with or without cab and use the Line 6 as the effects machine in the Ampero fx loop. But that's just my opinion

    Appreciate your insights on the Ampero. Before I found this channel, I thought that it sounded great but mainly for Marshall or higher gain stuff. For example in blind tests, I prefer this over a lot of the other big name options like Helix. However, your channel showed that it can sound great for that EJ thing.. or that jazz fusion bluesy thing. It sounds great when you play it.
    Appreciate your criticisms of it as well.. I wish Hotone would get in touch with you because I think you could be a great ambassador them, and also offer great feedback behind the scenes. If they could make it "giggable" (in your eyes) with a couple of well thought out updates.. it could literally become one of the best modellers out there. It'll never be an Axe-FX.. but bang for buck it could be one of those pedals that everyone wants to own. It already sort of is like that.. but these bugs are big turn offs for a serious musician. Also.. on the touch screen and computer software side, they are already one of the best options out there.
    I found it interesting that you mentioned the tones of the Fender modeller.. because I've had similar impressions where the sounds don't catch my ear in an exciting way. Overall, I think you are the most credible person when speaking of this floor unit.. when you speak of both the positives and negatives.

    Boss need to strip back the GX-100 and bring out a GX-1 to replace the GT-1 at this point
    3 foot switches / balanced TRS outs / Exp jack / CTRL 4/5 jack

Yes, there are some problems like that blip when you try to change the mode, or use the tuner, but, it was easy to get use to and adapt, so, by the half price of a HxStomp I've been able to achieve a good sound.

And just in case I will keep my HX Stomp (literally "in the loop" - mainly as replacement for the Meris Mercury X and LVX - unless G.A.S. strikes again at some point). Would love to know, how you would you setup a combination of the Hotone + HX. And of course I'm looking forward to any video about the Ampero Stage... In any case THANKS A LOT for your content 🤘🏼

    • @igorzavalnyi5341
      @igorzavalnyi5341 Před 5 měsíci

      I think you'll have too much latency with that configuration. Hotone has about 6ms of roundtrip, and HX about 3. And if you put the HX stomp in the FX loop, you'll have even more total latency. And then you add the latency of the mixer, the wireless systems, etc. and it may become very obvious when playing live.

    I think the best budget fx pedal is the valeton gp200lt which is half the price of the hotone at £200 from Andertons.
    It's made by the hotone company and just had another update and for £200 you can't go wrong.
    It's very easy to use and think the screen format so much better to the eye then the hotone. The only downside is the guitar tuner not very accurate but hopefully that will be updated at some point.
    The hotone is in the hx stomp price range perhaps a comparison between them would be good. Honestly check the valeton gp200lt for £200.

      What are the flaws?

    • @NeilOLoughlin
      @NeilOLoughlin Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@davidletterboyz The Patch list is a ittle bit clunky. Moving things around or getting to Presets well down the list requires a lot of swiping or scrolling. It does not have a really good equvilant of scenes/snapshots that you get on QC or HX Stomp (HX still does this best I have seen), what it has is servicable but does require you to take to work withg it (this can be a plus in some cases I guess). It also does not have an in built freeze effect.
      These are pretty small niggles I feel. Given I picked the Stomp 2 up for just under £300 on reverb and It is basically helping me get a load of pedals (compressors, twin tracking, looper, auto Wah) off my board.

It looked easier to get good tones without a computer and as you showed, it does a LOT for 250-280€ (amps, effects, looper, tuner, IR loader, drums, etc). They've updated it since its release and added scenes, amps and effects (off the top of my head, a Princeton, a Bassman, a Soldano, an EVH and a Plexi, an enveloppe and some fuzz pedals).

    Boss multi-effects pedals are high quality and multifunctional for the price.

    At $400, this unit is amazing. The biggest feature at the price point is the dual signal chain and Mono Summing. For me, this thing has the sound and feel 100% covered. Sure it is janky and buggy and everyone is now an expert but modelling this good sounding and more importantly feeling is a relatively new thing and The Ampero Stomp does it to perfection. Out of the box sounds are much better than my HX Stomp. The HX Stomp wins in effects and updates and the ceiling on sound quality is just a touch higher. But if you are like me, you want 5-10 patches that sound and feel like a tube amp, your basic effects like reverbs delay chorus drive etc, maybe some stereo seperation like the Kemper Space setting, and a metronome for practice, nobody does it better at this price.

    It isn't a whole lot cheaper than my GX-100 was, as much as a Pod Go, and fewer features.

    You seem to be able to make all of them sound good anyway.

    • @devDarkest
      @devDarkest Před 5 měsíci

      Neither of those three have a true dual effects chain. Best you get on the POD Go is a stereo reverb that is mid af. That starts at Helix and GT1000Core which are $600-700. Idk what you mean the Pod GO has more features when it is not even true stereo/mono summing which is the reason it's not even in the discussion for a mid tier modeler.

    • @wileym
      @wileym Před 5 měsíci

      @@devDarkest The GX does have dual effect chains. IMHO, both also have more features than the Hotone. More footswitches, expression pedals, more knobs to twiddle etc.
      Other than that, they're all fairly comparable. I would place the Pod and the Hotone about equal and the GX a bit better. I haven't tried the Hotone for myself and nobody local carries them. I ended up buying a GX, largely based on these videos and then my own ears. The GX just seems to fit better.
      The Pod has more amp and effect options than the GX but so many are just slight variations about a theme and the Boss just sounds better.
      Canadian prices - Boss GX - $830; GT1000 Core - 770; Helix LT - $1660; Pod Go (std) $690; PG Wireless - 830; HX Stomp - 970; Hotone II Stomp - $573 (I recall it being almost $100 more at the time); Ampero Stage - $950. The Stage is almost comparable but IMHO, the GX100 beats them all.

    I've asked before but I'll do it again... Maybe John's bot might alert John to this. The valeton stuff is really cheap (in the 100s for the GP100) and is really popular as well... Maybe take a look at that range... Might be worth the effort since a lot of people will be buying up those modellers considering the price point.

    my main gripe with my Ampero is that most of the amps in it don't have a dynamic enough response to gain changes. No breakup, no saturation, just infinite clean headroom. Do I sell it and sacrifice all the fx and loop functions to get a more dynamic pedal like a Dream65? I'm torn.

    I think Hotone amps/cabs/revbs/delays/modulations are all good sounding. Not only in the Stomp II, but even in the MINI. Where they fall down is in the pitch effects and the features needed for live play. The situation with Scenes, Parameter Control, and the MIDI Implementation all make this unit far less functional than Live 6 HXS. And the update cycles have been terrible with very disappointing "updates". Bugs and annoyances not fixed, Scenes not added, etc. They are really a mixed bag.

      @@johnnathancordy All ! This product sounds actually good. I find it expensive, but I was surprised at how it sounds :) I own a boss GT1000 (which i don t like that musch sound wise) and a TMP which I like. I see it as the tech evolves, it becomes natural that these modellers sound better year after year, including the "cheaper" ones. Makes sense anyway. Take care mate :)
