Yes, of course. Why is this even a question? :) For more Harrison Ford, Frantic and Regarding Henry are also good. Also, this movie is a sequel to the Alec Baldwin movie The Hunt for the Red October. I don't remember exactly why Baldwin didn't do this one but there's a whole story about that.

Definitely do the second one! It's a great film. I also recommend reacting to "Air Force One" which is a great action film with Gary Oldham playing a great villain and Harrison Ford the President.

This movie takes places during a time known as The Troubles. The Troubles didn't end until the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. Ireland was split in 2 in 1922 when the 26 southern counties became the Irish Free State. - A very brief and very much not in depth description of 20th century Irish history but should be enough for the movie. Anyway, John Patrick Ryan is as Irish as a name as you can get. Well, unless you were to replace John with Seán which is the (or an?) Irish form of John but that's about it.
This is such a good movie.

I can highly recommend Tom Clancy's novel that was the base for this movie. The story is way more in-depth and the members of the Royal Family that are being targeted in the novel are actually the Prince and Princess of Wales (So, at the time, Charles and Diana). Another Sean Bean movie I can highly recommend is "Ronin" (1998)...let's see if he dies in that one, too 😉!

  • @randeecarreno4289
    @randeecarreno4289 Před rokem +7

I've been looking forward to this one since I saw it on your schedule. 😊
The Harrison Ford "Jack Ryan" movies are two of my top favorite non-Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies(all of which I do highly recommend if you haven't seen them) of his.
34:00 You gotta watch the next movie to see if they're having another or a boy. On that note, you should 100% watch the next one, "Clear and Present Danger". It's just as good, if not better than this one.
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

"The people in those camps know probably better than we do exactly what time the satellite's going to pass overhead. And Marty... unless you authorize us to retask those satellites so we can get a look before they're overhead from the side, we are never gonna know which camp they're at."
"Jack, do you have any idea how big a deal it is to retask those satellites?"
    "Yeah!"
Fun Fact: The film takes place from January to March 1992.
Location Location Fact: The country in North Africa in which is the IRA train is never named. Although a map of the camps is shown and they are clearly in Libya.
It's A Sequel Fact: This movie is a soft sequel. Harrison Ford is playing the same Jack Ryan from The Hunt For Red October (1990). James Earl Jones is the only returning cast member from that movie.
Music Enthusiast Fact: James Horner (who, like many composers, often re-uses his own material) borrows part of his score from Aliens (1986) in scoring this film. Specifically, the key elements of "Resolution and Hyperspace" from the Aliens (1986) soundtrack appear in this movie: it is the music that plays while Ryan and the others watch the S.A.S. attack on the Libyan training camp.
Historical Fact: The attack on members of the Royal Family at the beginning of the film was inspired by a similar true-life attempt to kidnap Princess Anne on March 20, 1974. She was in her car when a man shot her guard and driver. She was subsequently helped by a passerby who attacked the criminal and saved her. The Troubles, as depicted in this movie, were an ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted about 30 years from the late 1960s to 1998. The conflict began in the late 1960s and is usually deemed to have ended with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998.

The Song that was playing on the TV. The name is Harry’s Game, and it’s the theme song of the show with its same name. It’s about an English police officer going under cover to catch the IRA. The Royal assassination plot is based off the bombing of Prince Philips Uncle, on a boat in Northern Ireland.
As to the splitting of North and Ireland, was done in 1922 and Michael Collins lost his life over it. Which is a very good movie to watch.

    1985 Witness
1986 Mosquito Coast (his personal favorite)
    1988 Frantic (Hitchcock feeling)
And, delve into the 1975 Gene Hackman movie The Conversation. Harrison Ford plays a small role pre Star Wars. Thanks 👍

Actually, getting shot in a mass shooting isn't as common as you think. It is the news media spending so much time on it that makes it seem more prevalent. They did a study some years ago and checked out I believe a little over a decade's worth of them (including Virginia Tech). During that roughly 10 year period at the beginning of this century the total number of mass shooting deaths was 117. The rate has probably increased but death by car beats it by far.

You don't seem to understand this is the american version of James Bond.
It is a whole series of Tom Clancy political spy thriller novels have had movie adaptations and TV series, under many different actors.😏
It is not an exaggeration, intelligence imagery even from space could in fact read a license plate in the eighties. "Enhance" is silly in CSI when dealing with el-cheapo ATM cameras, but military and intelligence grade cameras are "slightly" more robust than 4k... to the tune of MILLIONS of dollars. 😎
Assassination, bombing, stabbing, and kidnapping were all stock in trade of european terrorist organizations for decades, many of which DID seek paramilitary training from middle eastern state sponsors of terrorism, like Libiya and Momar Quadaffi.🤔
Machine guns and sub machine guns have in fact NOT been common in american killings Outside of gang warfare since they are all incredibly illegal. Please do not spread false hype. 🧐
