- A LOOK AT HOW TO FIX A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FLEISCHMANN TURNTABLE.
IN THE FUTURE WHEN IT FAILS AGAIN I WOULD USE A VERY TINY AMOUNT OF COPYDEX GLUE ON THE MOTOR SHAFT TO SECURE IT AS THIS TYPE OF GLUE HAS FLEX.
UPDATED 28/6/15: I HAVE A FAILED BACKUP MOTOR WHICH I HAVE FIXED WITH COPYDEX GLUE I WILL SHOW THIS SOON ON A VID.
UPDATEED 20/6/20 THIS TURN TABLE HAS NOW BEEN CONVERTED TO A DRIECT DCC CONTROL VIA A ESU LOK PILOT STANDARD CHIP THE TURNTABLE WORKS VERY NICE VIA A THROTTLE CONTROL. - Zábava

Lol I did not have a clue what I was doing at first and when I took the motor casing off (can of worms) I thought oh no this is never going to work again.........
But with the help of great people like yourself this problem was solved for now........

I got the Heljan turntable mate only used it a few times and sadly my layout doesn't not need one but you never know it might come in handy one day if I decide to do another shed scene.

Great detailed video of the problem. I guess I was a little late with the comment but I see you had lots of help with the problem. One the great things about the hobby, if you are stuck there is lots of people that could help. It will be nice to have the extra part when it arrives. I am sure it will slip again. Once it slips it will continue but I hope it doesn't. When it happens again at least you will know what the problem is. The worst thing is, in the manufacturing of the part all they had to do is flatten the shaft on one side to lock the gear on the shaft. But they like to cut costs. Better yet mill the piece out a solid piece of metal. Of course that's too expensive.

It will slip again I know...this must be a common failure and most people would replace the whole clip on motor assembly when there is nothing rong with the motor etc as it's easier to do .Fleischmann designed this tt over 40 years ago maybe the later tt's have modifications to stop this , my tt is an older version .
I will modify the spare shaft from Shebia31 as a spare when the tt fails again....
I know how to strip and rebuild the motor now and I thought I would share this basic vid for other modelers that use themis tt.

sheba31 your very welcome...you can change the couplings on that wagon as they are nem pockets..
its a static model as its very fragile ..you can move the boom etc but it has limits on the movements.....
When I saw your 'problem' video I had a few of thoughts: 1> Chinese (please no negative thoughts about the people - my wife and I visited China 5 years ago and the people were great), but, if German manufacture that thing would have borne 2 GG1's without problem; 2> plastic, I'll say no more; 3> worm gear - it's alway's the worm gear. And lastly, yes the weight can be problematic - plastic just doesn't hold up. In fact I think they design it to wear out in a few years, because most people would just go buy a newer one.
You may become a masochist! Seriously, I love the way you attack these issues. You have my admiration!
As a final note, as 1 of your subscribers I get the updates, but for some reason I could not view your vid direct from gmail. So after 3 tries, I just loaded CZcams directly and was able to view your 'problem solved.' I'm not a fan of google+.

I know some modelers that have gone through 4 motor units...
the motor is a good motor and will last a long time ,it's just the poor gear design which slips on the shaft....pretty bad for a expensive tt.....

Seeing you video, have you fitted a DCC decoder to the turntable, if so I would be interested to have the way that you wired this in.

I did say to chris I was going to order-buy a ldt decoder but on checking out the standard decoder install I am going to try this with sound as well as I have a spare sound chip and a standard dcc decoder.
On the dcc chip install the tt cannot be automated but I am not bothered about that.
Just have to sus how to wire it up....I will have another look at his vids....

Hi That is a lok pilot fx or function decoder just for working functions not a motor. {old chip now not available any more}.

I have fixed my Fleischmann turntable the way showed but I don't know what I'm doing wrong because now the mechanism gets stucked each time it moves from one track to another. I have to push the manual lever forward so it can reach its stop position and unlock the mechanism. I have tried to disassemble and assemble the mechanism many times but I can't fix it yet. I would be very pleased if you can help me to find out what's wrong. Thanks.

It sounds like you have put the tt bridge back incorrectly on the table base.....
You have to make sure the gears are lined up correctly where the bridge gear meets the wall ot the tt base,
If not lined up correctly it will not stop correctly at the track exit...
Take off the bridge and try to re-line up and test one move to see if it lines up with the track exit.

I think I know my issue. @12.15 in this (really useful) video I'm missing the bottom piece of metal. I have the top piece which correctly engages the contact on the other side but not the metal piece, Do you know what it does...it have wires connected so must be something. I found a new motor assembly online so hopefully back up and running soon.
Yeah that is the selonioid contacts these stop the bridge and motor from turning when they reach the exits.
@@hovermotion I found the issue, on the C type version there is a relay to switch the power to the sidings. The coil of this relay is across the solenoid for the motor. This relay coil had failed causing the wrong voltage to the solenoid. I removed the relay and replaced with a resistor and all is well again.
Hi have followed your channel for a few years after I purchased an n gauge Fleischmann turntable.
Having acquired a larger space when we moved Ive started building a OO layout.
What are your views on buying a Fleischmann turntable that is unused but is 30 years old?
Great channel Ive tried to find Oliver Wiedwalds channel but with no success.

On the turntables the Fleischmann turntables have a flaw with having a plastic grear on a metal shaft on the motor so for used turntables you have to test to see if the bridge rotation will move your heaviest loco without the motor slipping.
Other than that an as new condition TT even that old should be fine if it's at a good price .

Hello.
I have a Fleischmann 6652 platform that is giving me a headache. I was operating it manually with the 6909 remote control. I recently decided to digitize it with the TT-DEC decoder and during the digitization operations it began to make a noise in one direction of travel and not in another. He controlled it again with command 6909 and the noise continued, until the engine stopped working. I changed the motor for one of sb modellbau, the noise disappeared but it only turned three positions in one direction or the other, the centering finger gets stuck in the groove and the coil is not removed. Could it be slack from gear wear? I have asked fleischmann for a spare part to replace the whole set, but they don't answer.

Hi , Have you fine tuned the Potentiometers on the ldt
I have not had to adjust the potentiometers, I see that the platform rotates correctly in my opinion. Although I have read somewhere that you should hear a click?
Lots of time and effort by many in solving an unnecessary problem. Basically a very overengineered drive mechanism, with a most basic problem to start with.
Yeah this works flawlessly now as ai also fitted a decoder direct to the bridge control motor..
