I HATE Professional Wrestling.

- I have been watching professional wrestling for 17 years. I've watched WWE, AEW, occasionally NJPW and TNA, but I have always had a bad taste in my mouth about the industry as a whole. Whether its how trainees are treated in wrestling schools, the scandals of Vince McMahon and other wrestlers, how womens wrestling is handled by companies, or the wrestling fanbase as a whole, there's a whole lot to not like. So why am I still watching?

Hey I wanna address a few comments I’ve seen since this video has been posted
- “This doesn’t only apply to pro wrestling” I know. It still applies though.
- I feel like I didn’t articulate my point about women’s wrestling right. I say multiple times that it’s not the women’s fault. My thought is that the focus should be BOTH the in ring work and looks. Most people just focus on looks, and I blame the companies for that.
- You’re not a bad person if you’re a wrestling fan. But yall know the people I’m talking about
The onus on women's looks isn't on the company. Of course, companies can steer certain things due to storylines and character work, but you still need to remember that these are women. Women want to look good regardless of their creed and trade. There's a level of empowerment that comes with looking good and powerful and all these companies are still doing what they can to make sure both the wrestling and looks are focuses. The people JUST focussing on looks are a minority
One of my women friends once told me that the reason a lot of women like to sexualize themselves is because they like to look sexy while kicking ass and she compared to when men like to look bloody and scarred during a fight because it makes them look bad ass
That's lowkey kinda pathetic
@@SchnirtU just proved the point made about respecting people's opinions
@@Schnirt How is it pathetic? Are you just an incel?
@@nkatekolebuso6143how did he disrespect his comment?
I guess that's one way to look at it and that's actually a fun way of seeing things
You forgot the people that complained about Cody’s title reign in the FIRST WEEK
For me it’s about….. What Comes Next? I always look forward to a WWE Championship match. No matter what.
Fax it was so annoying because all the people that were complaining I feel like all wanted Cody to win then they complain straight away and didn’t give it a chance
Fax like he literally cut a promo and that’s it, like did you expect him to run a 60 minute iron man match with solo the next day?
People switched from "We want Cody" to "We want Roman" real quick after the title changed hands
Facts
I've been watching for 42 years now. Here's my pro tip: Log off of pro wrestling social media and just watch the product.
Thats the wisest thing to do. Hands down.
💯
Pr just forget about it in ur life qnd do soemthi g else
daniel bryan said it best, "FICKLE, THEYRE FICKLE!!!" in his promo
Was just thinking about that the other day lol 😂
I firmly agree with this. I also hate this whole tribalism thing. Wrestling is wrestling. We should enjoy it all.
I remember when jade Cargill botched the springboard at clash of the castle she got tons of hate but when breakker botched a move the next week on raw everyone just said it was OK because he was learning 😭
Obviously none of these people deserve hate for botching, my point is just how womens wrestlers get viewed differently to the men.
I am not trying to defend the Jade hate but tbf it was on a bigger stage and WWE is painting her as one of the faces of the women's division. I myself have not heard the excuse that it is ok for Bron as he is learning but rather that he never messes up and always puts on great matches, so one botch is ok. Jade has been messing up and botching quite a bit before leading into that match and that botch was just the thing that drove fans over the edge. Bron is what he is made to look like where Jade is close, but not there yet. I also want to say I think the hate for Jade is stupid and we should not hate on her at all and I wish her all the best (I am actually a big fan of hers) but I just wanted to put some things into perspective. There is a major problem with wrestling fans hating a lot more on women then men for the same things but I think this case was a bit (not fully) different although still definitely wrong.
Fr because they change it to be more fair for women any time they mess up they get shamed far mire then the men. You see it it everywhere
There's a reason people look past Brons botch and not jades and it's not cause she's a woman lol. If u can't see the obvious difference in talent between the 2, one was at a ppv, one was at raw. Obviously the one on raw is gonna get a lot let less spotlight
@@harrymaguire5740
The difference is jade was learning for years in aew ,bron had less time in Nxt ,imma get hate for saying this but Aew doesn’t focus on storylines as much as the pure wrestling ability ,so she could’ve gotten better at that point in the ring and on the mic in wwe ,but she kinda tried doing the opposite which irks people
The storyline with Liv Morgan is something we can’t criticize too heavily because we don’t know how this was set up. We don’t know if Liv came up with the idea, we don’t know how much control Liv has over this story. In a time of all of this social media, if Liv wasn’t comfortable with what she was doing then it would’ve been reported already. I do think there should have been a different route on this storyline but we don’t know all if the behind the scenes to be criticizing too much.
You’re absolutely right. I even said I can’t speak on how comfortable certain people are doing certain things, I can only talk from my perspective
@@Smallafroto touch back on the womens part i kinda agree with you its okay to have a mix of hot women plus wrestling but when all i see on wwe tv and twitter is who is gonna have to tits or ass out, who is gonna have the biggest butt and it takes away from the wrestling like no hate but lola vice , her promo skills are meh but she screams im a latina and shakes ass now everyone loves her, i dont mind it but i would rather watch more than just ass yk?
Dom's wife probably don't like it
@McQuicky310 they probably had a conversation pretty sure liv is still in an irl relationship too
@@Smallafro exactly and I respect the perspective because it’s definitely getting a little over the top and the most recent match she had with Zelina wasn’t about the wrestling it was about the moment in the match where Dom fell on Liv.
Once I became a fan. Wrestling is my life. Nothing comes close to WWE and Wrestling. No one carries Stars for decades like WWE does. People still talk trash like they can keep everything interesting all year long and decade. Bad or good, Wrestling is the best.
yes that may be true but think about all the disgusting things that go on backstage
Wrestling is just like that one addicting thing that sometime when it's at its lowest you want to just stop quit watching it, (*Ahem 2018-2019 RAW) but you just come back to it cause that's what your insticts tell you, It's part of your life that you can't just get rid of that easily, No matter it's state. And also definitely agree that not having an opinion is major reason for this.
Agree
Was gonna like this but then it got 69 likes and now it has to stay that way
@@jeffreyjohnson3179 It's over 69 now my boy, you can like now 🙏🏻
i agree for the most part on the women’s wrestling part but at the same time the women themselves are sexualizing themselves
you can’t criticize people for sexualizing them when they do it themselves
OK, when the section about women's wrestling came up, I was wondering where this was going to go; also, it's cool that you put over the NXT Women's Division, which is one of the highlights of the show. There's so much depth in that women's division to the point where you can have a midcard title for the NXT women and go "Yeah, that makes sense" but actually mean it, instead of it being sarcastic.
current nxt womens division is the best division i have ever seen anywhere ever thats crazy and all of them are so young as well if they actually care abaout them we will see some bangers after bangers on the main roster for the next decade
If I had to play the drinking game anytime I saw a female wrestler with tight shorts and a belt placed under their cheeks I'd have liver failure. I still remember Mandy Rose ushering in that look. And there was an interview where Athena AKA Ember Moon said she left the company because the producers told her to "dress sexy like Mandy Rose." Now damn near every women's wrestler is sporting the belts under the buttcheeks.
Wrestling's biggest problem has always been the fans.
We're toxic, misogynistic, disrespectful, close minded, enablers and the whole tribalism thing is embarrassing af. Maybe if the community got better and we were allowed to have respectful conversations, give constructive criticism and were able to call people out on their stuff without being sent death threats, maybe then it could get better, maybe then people like Vince wouldn't feel so comfortable taking advantage of people or feel so comfortable playing god. Maybe then. But overall I agree with everything you're saying dude, this was a great video👍
The way to described the fanbase, i think thats just twitter😂, most wrestling fans irl arent like that, and yes some people arent on social media all day(casuals) like my friend has been a wrestling fan for 10 years and every time i tell him about a rumor he asks where i got it from(he doesnt have twitter fsr)
I hate smelly wrestling fans, always crying about fake fighting
I mostly agree with this video but saying "WWE and AEW know that men only watch womens wrestling because of their looks" is such a bad take. Yes the clips that go viral are of Lola Vice and Jaida Parker being hot but it's not like people are switching the channel to see some ass. NXT has had a growth but it's been a consistent growth because of how good the product is. Eva Marie is one of the hottest women to ever step in to a ring period. Her in-ring work didn't even work in the divas era, by 2016 with Charlotte, Sasha, Naomi, Bliss she felt like a relic of the late 90s. If AEW "knew how much men loved womens wrestling" they'd probably feature them more but they don't,
I do think his point was not about people only watching because of women being hot, I think what he was meaning was, people may tune in to watch women wrestle, but after the show itself not a lot of that gets talked about on social media, most of the things you see on social media about the women's division is, " so and so has a nice butt, so and so has a nice rack, and so and so has thighs that I would like to be crushed by"I don't think he was meaning to dispute that people tune into the broadcast to actually watch the women wrestle, he was just expressing frustration that most of the comments on social media or most of the posts on social media are about how hot the women look, rather than how good the matches are
I don't have a problem with the Liv Morgan/Dom thing because it's one thing. It's not like back in the 2000s when every single Women's storyline had to be a love triangle or a romance angle. You don't see Iyo Sky or Bianca Belair being injected into a romance storyline with let's just say Austin Theory for example. That's literally the type of stuff they'd do on a weekly basis in the early 2000s where it got to the point that Trish Stratus was basically with every member of the men's roster at one point in time. Having one or two storylines in like this at one time is okay but I don't think we should revert back to where Lita was with Edge, Torrie Wilson with Tajiri, Stacy Keibler with Randy Orton and Trish Stratus with Christian like it literally was every single week during the ruthless aggression era.
If Liv never said was going to take everything or if there was no easter eggs the last 2 months of her involvement with Dom & Finn & she just suddenly kissed Dom that would be a problem cz it doesn't make sense & it's just a desperate attempt for shock factor.
13:20
Sol Ruca: moveset consists of high flying type moves like crossbody, springboards like clothlines, sentons etc
Lola vice: she somewhat like Shayna, mix of striking/submission, like she has a back fist, spinning overhead kick like Mickie James mick kick, a leg submission, takedowns etc
Jaida Parker (yeah lowkey this one is actually hard): she more of a brawler and a lot of her moveset involves her ass, like her finisher is kinda like Naomi but she uses the side instead, she does a sit down ass splash to the stomach (no idea what’s it called), powerslam, takedown, etc (again most her moveset is ass related)
Naomi hasn't used the Rear view as a regular finisher in nearly 10 years , that's more of a signature move at this point she wins most matches with the split leg moonsault, Jaida only has two moves she does here involve her booty,
@@TheSupinesmokey Naomi uses rear view, split leg moonsault, and rings of Saturn submission as her finishers

That video would be solid
The first part is just kinda life, any industry, movies, music etc.
Yep. It being the norm does not make it good
I'm 24 yet i started watching wrestling since 2010-2011 so I've been a fan for about 14 years. It changed so much, it had it's ups and downs but finally i can say im enjoying wrestling again in this Triple H era.
Something that kind of pisses me off is that when a beloved wrestler dies, almost the ENTIRE IWC are on the same page for atleast a DAY and a half, saying how that wrestler impacted their lives before going back to comparing AEW and WWE's ratings.
Like, genuinely WHY can't it be like that all the time. Just talking about positive things about our common interest instead of arguing about whether MJF is a bigger main event draw than Cody Rhodes or some dumb shit like that.
And yeah, the fact that most of the IWC will either hype up a talent until said talent gets pushed or wait until people they don't like botch something so they can say how they're the worst wrestler ever is such dogshit.
There were literally people calling Sami Zayn "Super Zayn" after winning against Bron and its only been 3 MONTHS since he won the title.
See i had this weird revelation a while back because i see a bunch of people online getting upset that wrestlers vote this way, or support this, or act like this. it just came to a point where i say "once you realize everyone in the business is probably a terrible person, you save yourself a lot of trouble" because its not EXACTLY true, but its got a decent success rate 😭
and then at the same time its probably very similar if not worse in other industries (hello Hollywood) so if you cant trust the wrestling industry, then you probably cant trust much else, and then you cant trust shit 💀so i just still be watching cuz i love it
Welp, I'm going to Daytona, bye Hollywood. 😒
Womens wrestling has gotten a really bad rap for most of its existence. Its only in the past 10-15 years that women have truly begun to be recognized for their talents and abilities.
Spitting nothing but facts! Nobody hates hates wrestling more than professional wrestling fans, it’s a shame
This video does a great job in highlighting the issues with pro wrestling as a whole and issues which SHOULD BE TALKED ABOUT WAY MORE BY THE WAY. However, I will never 'hate' wrestling for these things. I dont know how to describe it perfectly but it's like once you get invested in wrestling as much as me and I assume most of you reading this have, it's hard to just stop watching. It's like a weird addiction, I just love wrestling man.
Saying that men only watch women's wrestling because of their looks is so reductive because a lot of these women are working hard and going viral due to their work
@@SDKIZZLEman you didn’t listen to what I said at all
@@Smallafro I did
They are going viral because of their looks
I’ll speak for myself. In the midst of everything that was said here (which I agreed with), the reason why I stay invested in professional wrestling is for moments like Cody Rhodes finishing the story. Moments and stories like this, I get emotionally invested and brought into it to a point where I’m in tears of joy. I can leave all the issues of the industry and the internet at the door if only for a little bit.
Dude i loved watching this, you are very passionate about this and i respect it. Great Job Jarren
Smallafro: Who doesn’t have Twitter
Me: I don’t
Neither do I I’ll never will
Well, clearly you do have CZcams which he said a second later
I think one of the things that help me in my fandom of anything really, is kind of keeping myself at a little bit of a distance. I love pro wrestling, and I have for my entire life….but I don’t watch weekly wrestling. I like watching matches and watching matches with others, but I don’t watch the weekly shows. I think one of the issues in terms of fandom, is people who kind of base their whole identities around a promotion and feel that anything else is inferior and an insult to them. There are pockets of good stuff and good conversations out there, but that’s with so many fandoms in general. I’m also a massive comic book fan, and there’s a lot of shit in that industry and especially that fan base. Just gotta figure out where the boundaries are.
thank you so much for making this video. i hope that people actually listen to this and check themselves.
I get what you’re saying, but to me if it has nothing to do with me personally I try to not care. Also ive never hated or disliked wrestling but one thing that has increased my enjoyment was laying off the insider scrolls, and reporter channels like I used to Ryan wretsltalk or culatholic video and know everything but I knew everything that was happening and was gonna come, irl and in ring- these days I barely watch those channels I feel more engaged with the sport and excited to watch it. Yeah I hear and see things in social media it’s inevitable but trying to know as little of what’s going on backstage helps
I love this sport
I see the talent in the ring of women’s wrestlers not their body
But you opened my eyes on how insane the wrestling industry really is
This is why i watch u. U keep it 100. I agree with everything u said and ESPECIALLY ur take on having your own opinion.
I saw the Bull Dempsey part and just reminded me of how badass that dude was/is he’s awesome
Great video man it feels really good seeing someone saying there own apinion
Almost lost him with that bump
The sad part is that pro wrestling used to be a lot worse, people used to get threatened and even MURDERED doing this shit
I agree lot of those wrestlers wouldn’t be there if it weren’t for Vince McMahon. But sometimes you have to let go of the things that you love if they’re bad for you and everybody else
This video earned a sub from me. A lot of what you said about the wrestling industry and fans have been what's on my mind a lot lately, especially regarding women's wrestling. I've definitely noticed there's been a surge in sexualization on the women and storylines from both companies lately, almost to the point where its become somewhat annoying and it's almost gotten me to switch the channel a few times. Glad to know I'm not the only one who's thinks this way.
Trust me this is gonna be controversial
My answer to the NXT Women's moves is no i can't name any, but it's because I really only watch NXT PLE's and not week-to-week
tbf tho Lola Vice and Jaida Parker were not great examples because for the most part, they have very generic move sets but I was able to name some of their moves but for you I would not worry about it.
I get where you're coming from mate. The business and the fans make it hard to defend. And truthfully the compulsion to walk away from it does exist. I did learn something new though, I wasn't aware Vince Russo had a fan base. Great video
Not that it has to matter, but in my opinion you articulated yourself great and got your point across insanely well.
There will always be people who view things differently and might get mad at your opinion but in my eyes you handled this topic amazing and I hope you do more videos like this
Love that you did this video. Appreciate the honesty and glad that you wish to nurture a community that respects each other
Though these topics were very hard to discuss (especially the women’s wrestling part) I know you have great intentions wuth this video. I’m just now starting my own CZcams journey in this space of pro wrestling and I know all the feelings you’re talking about here. Great video.
Welp boys, time to switch to NASCAR, and other sports out there. 😂😂
Love the video btw. ❤
The attitude era is kinda the blueprint for whats happening now if you think about it. We all saw how bad PG stuff was. So its like the business doesnt want to go back to that. The internet just makes it all more of a dumpster fire because it didnt propely exist back in the 90s
Lola Vice that Backfist & that Spin Kick & Jaida Parker idk 🤣
I say this knowing that your literal job is to be plugged into what's going on with the business, and so this may not be fully realistic... I think that occasionally unplugging and staying off social media/out of the wrestling fandom is extremely important. A lot of my frustrations with the business are at their worst when I'm constantly having wrestling discourse thrown in my face. I love wrestling so much more when I just watch the TV shows as a fan, and don't pay attention to the discussion surrounding them. Even a week away can do wonders.
Also, as someone who works in my local indies as a camera guy, your assessment of the industry is accurate. I have zero interest in being an actual performer in the business at this point because it's just politics and weird backstage dynamics and breaking your body for not much in return... which sucks. I'm good behind the camera.
Keep doing what you do, my man.
I thought at first this was a 30 minute Reddit video and I got hyped BUT this is a well put together and very well explained video ❤

I DON'T WATCH THE PRODUCT, ITS NOT MY FAULT😭😭😭
I've been a wrestling fan ever since I was like 10 years old watching it with my father, I never interacted with the IWC until last year, and dude, your vid actually mentioned every single problem I have with the community, especially on Twitter. from the tribalism to the weird gooning shit...thankfully I stay out of the community and only interact with like 2 or 3 people who also fans of wrestling every time there's a show and that's it.
also, just wanna say based on the vinyl collection in the back u have an EXCELLENT music taste IMO Green Day, Kendrick, dua lipa, etc. all HITS
You know shit is real when it’s a 27 minute video
Hey Jarren, on the women's wrestling topic usually on Cage match you will hear good things about women's wrestling usually and people rate matches and many other things. A lot of the people on there talk about how fun some of the women's matches are instead of looking at them in a weird way.
What I love most about wrestling has little to do with in ring work. I love the Wyatt 6, The Bloodline story, Team Hell No, Broken Matt Hardy saga on TNA, Damien Mizdow, etc.
This is my 11th year as a wrestling fan
13 for me
Going into year 10 come Royal rumble
Excellent video with great points everyone should watch this
See, I am a huge wrestling fan, but you, especially when talking about women’s wrestling and the fans, make a very strong point. I am going to Raw tomorrow, but you made me think with these points and like what you said with Truth and like, yeah, your speaking facts.
Liv motivation against Rhea is not about hooking up with Dominic and sex. It’s called the Liv Morgan revenge tour. She’s (Liv) trying to get revenge on Rhea for injuring her. So she’s out to hurt her in anyway she can, including taking away Dominic. Dominic is just a means to an end for Liv and in the end it will be revealed that she was actually hooking up with Finn to get more inside information. but that’s besides the point. Liv Morgan’s character is a femme fatale who is out for revenge against another woman who wronged her.
I fully agree what you had to say. I think toxicity of the industry has definitely increased with social media especially as some fans get carried away whether it’s their obsession over a specific wrestler(there’s a difference between looking up to someone and being so obsessed over someone that they and their family members/friends don’t feel safe leaving their home) or overthinking of wrestling. I do get that we’re all passionate about wrestling and we all have an opinion but you cross the line if you’re attacking wrestlers online, sending them creepy dms, stalking them at airports, spreading false info about them or trying to get them to lose their job. As some wrestlers have often said that these horrible things said to them online they would never hear in person or at meet and greets. The people say these things to them are basically protected by their computer, and phone but fail to realize that the wrestlers receiving the comments are people too just like the rest of us. They’re living their dream just like everyone else in the world is trying to do. The same goes for wrestling content creator they’re people too and don’t send them creepy dms. I used to never post on social media about wrestling because I didn’t want people to know that I was a wrestling fan because of all the negativity I would see online. Over my years being a fan I’ve slowly started posting on social media my enjoyment of wrestling and have gotten to a point where I don’t take wrestling seriously I’m just here for the ride and hope everyone is successful and treated correctly. Also it shouldn’t matter which company you’re a fan of. It’s all under the same category which is wrestling. Just have fun,be positive, have a great day!

I think you're right look at people like alexa bliss she is good looking but she is great at promos her wrestling is great and has great characterization. Nia jax is improving a hell a lot which not many people are giving her credit for and you are 100% correct about fans allowfans to have their own opinion and allow fans to react how they want react whether it's screaming and chanting or it's more mellow and calm.
Ok before I start this video brotha you said you watched wrestling for 17 years I’m bouta turn 20 in august😂
side note: i love the folklore album on the wall
Lola Vice is a true fighter. And she’s good looking as well. I thought it was for looks as well, but watching she’s getting better in the ring.
13:11 I don't know if we're specifically talking finishers but I know that llola vice does the spinning back fist and that usually knocks people out, which is where her whole gimmick of my fists don't lie comes from (and since I said the thing I must now say the other thing "Shakira Shakira!")
In all honesty, this is exactly what I feel, it's a love hate relationship with it sometimes

Ive been watching since 2002 and never stopped being a fan, we didnt grow up in the attitude era stage but like you said...sex sells, and you right now you have waaaayy more talented females for looks and can wrestle than you did back than, I can name literally like 4 they back than, idk if you're afraid that the attitude era is slowly possibly coming back but I mean its what sells, I love when they curse or even when there's blood in the match or segments its what sells....I love this video thank you for speaking out how you feel about it bro
I'm a woman, and womans wrestling got me into the whole sport. The a women i first saw was Gigi in the indie scene, then Paige and Alexa Bliss in WWE in 2019.
I grew to love the whole sport men and women. I'm glad the women got a chance to perform without the sex object storyline. I too would live to give it a try.
Onecthing about wrestling rhat bothers me is that certain women are way too over sexualized and shamed for mistakes compared to the men. And how fickle the fans are with long term story telling. I can see it slowly changing for the better in HHH era but yeah. Unfortunately, a lot of fans are perverts.
Ring The Belle is a great channel talking about women's wrestling only and the matches, stories and interviews. Really made me appreciate it more. Sorry for the long text hope it made sense.

I started watching way back in the 80s with my grandma when I was a little kid. To me, 2006 was the cut-off. It's when I stopped loving it. I was talking about it with someone just yesterday. It will never be as great again as it used to be.
YOUR THE BEST CZcamsR
I agree with this a lot. I mean I will admit, I don't really like watching women's wrestling unless the superstar is hot imo (Naomi for example), and I'm a 15 turning 16 teenage boy, but I don't try to be weird or toxic about it. Thanks for this Jarren, you spoke some very true words and I respect it.
