„They want my heart on the right spot, but when I look down it beats on the left“. The song is the bands response to allegations from certain people, especially media, of being far right because of Tills rolling „r“ and their controversial and provoking music and videos.
what's does rolling „r“ imply? who else rolls „rs“?
@@mindaugasjurevicius5776 Good old Adolf?
@@mindaugasjurevicius5776 In Germany the rolling "R" is oftenly associated with Adolf Hitlers speeches - even so it is used many times in quite different contexts. But when someone wants to beleaf in his biases he only sees indicators that matches to them. 🤷♂
@@arnonyhm4055 huh. Are there Hitler sympathizers who purposefully roll their ''r's''?
That's why there are different pronunciations of the 'r?@@arnonyhm4055
I would Write more, but i just woke up 😂
Nice start so far

Again for Rammstein, the lyrics are simple but tricky.
Background: Rammstein was often wrongly accused of being a right-wing band (Nazi band). This song is their answer.
The chorus "Links 2 3 4" (left 2 3 4) comes from military marching. There is a command "Im Gleichschritt Marsch" (March in step) and every soldier starts with his left foot. To ensure all are in sync, the seargent (or who ever leads that formation) shouts "Links 2 3 4", one word for every step (at least a couple of times after started). So Rammstein choose a military phrase. Military in Germany is oftenly associated to right-wing kind of thinking.
In the calm part of the lyrics, Till questions common German expressions related to hearts (e.g.: Can hearts break? Can a heart be out of stone?). And before the main chorus starts, Till sings "Sie wollen mein Herz am rechten Fleck, doch seh ich dann nach unten weg, dann schlägt es links." (They want my heart in the right place (normal meaning of "right place" is "correct place"), but when I look down it's beating left (second meaning of "heart beating left" is "left minded"/"open minded"). Then starts the military phrase. So they are playing with right-wing aestetics while making a left-wing statement.
What an excellent reaction of Rammstein being accused being a Nazi band. For full understanding you should watch the live performance of this song - for example from Paris.
Presenting Nazi theatrics (especially in live performance) and marching sound with those intelligent double meaning lyrics:
They want my heart on the right side (correct side vs. political right vs. being a good guy) but when I look down on me it beats left (left side of the chest vs. political left)
damn thats sooo deep
But they are not a left-wing Band either! Politically they are neither left nor right.
Ok, that's my Opinion!
👍❤
Thanks!
Welcome!
Rammstein's definite answer to all the haters that accuse the band of been right wing, in a weird kind of way we wouldn't have this gem of a track 'cos of all the BS flung at them, love it, real get up and shake your sh!te to...
Watch the official video. Mind blowing!
OMG react to deutchland
we did
Nice reaction, thank you. Please respond to the "MAKING-OF" videos, which are available with subtitles and for almost all videos, including the LIVE IN PARIS. The band and video producer have a lot of fun filming and talk about the song and music video. You'll have a lot of fun with it. Please also react to "WEISSES FLEISCH" live in Madison Square Garden with subtitles (with guitar solo by Richard, drum solo by Christof and dance solo by Flake (keyboard). Till sings about a rape from the perspective of the perpetrator. Channel Bucksttabu www. czcams.com/video/q_CArBG73Ug/video.html
The Live from völkerball version of Links 2 3 4 is better than this one though, arguably the best one ;)
