Elegant design
OH! I like that idea that idea that you can strap the trike to it and stand it up against the wall in the garage! Great feature!
that is a beautiful trike rack. I'm looking into building something similar for my regular bicycle but I really like the craftsmanship you put into your build. Great work!
Excellent idea. A great way to carry your trike around and a good "carry vehicle". Keep on triking....
Thanks for sharing the video of your trike rack.. very cool! Well designed and thought out! For some reason the audio was a very low.. had to turn up the volume all the way to hear your comments... but great video!
@KrunchyJD Thank you, I'm feeling better!
@LogNotching That rack view is in Part 1 video.
@dregerclock Sorry about the low sound (defaulted to mid-range), was in a hurry to post this to several forums, one of which I wish you'd consider signing aboard. NEED MORE TRIKERS! Recumbent Riders International (Tadpole)
Join in the discussion. Will paint this rack in the next few days; semi-gloss gray seems to be a requested color. Will have to post the rack on my timberframe saw horse scooting across the driveway or wheel it out under a tree!
The video shot the next day has a tad more info on securing the rack to the basket. The rack is still in successful use.
@KrunchyJD I suggest you find a friendlier cycling path!
FYI: Mikael, this is a 'how-to' thread on an idea regarding a home made trike transporting rack. Period.
You shouldn't have any trouble finding fault with those who live differently than you............; we can't all be perfect! I liked your cycling video but after your comment here, it has now taken on a certain emptiness. Perhaps when you turn 70, you'll appreciate ways to chill in comfort (also)!
@CullyJ Besides the Wednesday & Saturday travels to Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park some 30 miles one-way, has been about 125 miles from here in a driving rain storm back in April (see CZcams video 'Red Bud Ride' posted April 17, 2011). If you'll look at that video you'll also see some pieces of 'foam noodles' that are placed over the bar-end shifters then covered with a grocery store plastic bags to keep excess water out of the handlebars. Also bags on the lights.
Terrific looking rack!
Have you traveled a lot with it? I like that you can use it as a stand so you can work on your trike.
Selling this yet? Lol Great idea so a person could lean it against the wall since I live in an apt that would be great.
@LogNotching Get electric assist then. However, I stand by what I said. If people want trikes and recumbents taken up, then getting rid of SUV's is a big part of that. Besides, we fight overseas wars so people can drive around in SUV's
You do realise that the reason few people ride recumbents, is because too many drive cars like yours, andthey believe that with SUV's on the road they will not be seen.
Awesome build! Loved that you took the time to finish the wood and rounding all corners. It reminds me of how a cabinet maker was build this rack. Wish I had the talent and equipment to build this. We are new owners of two ICE trikes and look forward to joining our group in Middle Tennessee on some rides this spring.
Thanks for the kind comments, Steve.
