- Day four is an absolute Lake Trout slam. Trolling, vertical jigging, casting, it didn’t seem to matter. I also discuss the different techniques I employ to catch Lake Trout. Day five we finish up with a few fish on Amoeber Lake and make our way through Topaz Lake to Cherry Lake. The bluffs on Cherry do not disappoint and we are treated to a breathtaking sunset to close the day at one of the nicer campsites in the Boundary Waters.

I have spent many, many trips to the northwoods chasing lake trout ...and I'm glad I came across your channel. Subscribed immediately -- thanks for the content.
Thanks for the support - glad you found me! Plenty of trout content on this channel. Most people are looking for Walleye so I do that, too, but my true passion is trout fishing and I am sure I don't have to explain why :)
Fantastic channel, makes me miss home. Looked like a Piragis decal on one of the canoes. Keep it up and thanks for the great videos!
Thank you, I will certainly keep them coming! Yep, that was a Piragis Decal. I work for them up here in Ely so I get the privelage of taking their boats out on the water for my trips when I am not in my solo boat. Are you from Northern MN?
Love your videos! I subscribed.
Thank you!
Awesome video!
Thank you! One of my favorites, for sure!
@@therealfarwater How long have you been in Ely? I grew up there. That little brook trout lake looked familiar
Awesome vids, what sonar setup do you use? Do you use the same setup for ice as well? I’ve been pounding Burntside all summer with no luck lol.
Thank you!! Burntside is tough, I still haven’t caught a laker there in the summer-but generally have luck in the winter in 40-65’ of water with a small 1/4oz jig and 4” white paddle tail. Go small, they’re eating smelt in there. I made a video for my sonar setup, since I get so many questions about it:
Best Fish Finder 2021: Humminbird Helix 5 G2 with RAM Mounts setup

Just curious, what is your set up for trolling (including your mounting system for your rod - sorry if i missed)? Been trying to figure out a good system. Thanks for sharing these videos, they are fun to watch! Thanks!
Rod Holder: RAM Mount Tough Claw Rod Holder
Rod: Shimano Talora 8 foot Medium Trolling Rod
Reel: Shimano Tekota Line-Counter Reel
Line: 25 pound PowerPro Braid to 30# Seaguar Flourocarbon leader with a 2-3oz in-line sinker to get down to trolling depth
@@therealfarwater Thank you!
I think I spotted a Sasquatch relieving himself in the woods at 16:45
Hahaha
What do you use for a portable graph and how to you power it? Love your videos!
Thanks! Hummingbird helix 5 with a summer transducer and like six different RAM Mount components to attach it to the canoe securely. I used to bring a regular old 12v lead acid battery but got sick of carrying the weight. I upgraded to a 10Ah Dakota Lithium battery that weighs about half the lead 7ah battery. I can get about 25-30 hrs out of it if I turn the screen brightness down, which is good for a 3-4 day trip
@@therealfarwater thanks so much for the information. I'm 77 years old with more than 100 trips to the BWCAW. I still guide and outfit small adult groups. Did 3 trips last summer/fall. One trip was to Knife Lake and the lakes you fished for this video.. It's one of my favorite BWCA areas.
@@davidbangerter that’s impressive! I hope to one day be able to say I’ve taken 100 trips into the BWCA
Hey great video, noticed your lifevest set up and was wondering what brand it is and do you like it? being I have to buy myself a new one.
@@marlonhansen7337 it’s the NRS Chinook fishing vest and I absolutely love it. Tons of pockets and storage space for essential items. It’s super comfortable, too
Yo dog...curious about your ankle gators...brand?
Chota Hybrid boots with the Chota Breathable Sock :) Piragis sells them
Great job fishing. Northern Minnesota? Ever fish in Canada?
Yep, almost all of the fishing I do is in the Boundary Waters in Northern MN. I have taken a few trips into Quetico Provinical Park, but haven't been since they suspended the RABC permit...just waiting for that to open back up so I can paddle to Quetico directly, rather than making the 5 hour drive around and going through customs
@@therealfarwater Interesting. Never knew there were permits that allow paddle in access. Very cool. Hope they open it up for you.
@@fishingrelaunched4864 yup, stands for Remote Area Border Crossing. You still have to check in at a ranger station on your way, but it allows you to avoid driving through customs
What was the name of the lake you were on
This one was Amoeber, I talk about it plenty in the video
Did you know that bleeding your fish is actually not fast but is slow and torturous! The best and most humane way to kill fish is to club them on the head, they instantly die from this and you can still bleed them out afterwards but at least they don't feel it and do not have a prolonged death.
Yep! When I bleed them it generally doesn’t take more than 30 seconds to perish, but I have started clubbing to expedite the process and reduce stress on the fish
@@therealfarwater Good job!
@@steveklick thank you!!
