      You can use GarageSmart (www.garagesmart.net)
      as I have been using that product for 2-years now and absolutely love
      it. Works every time and many great features! Support is great too!

    How do you connect the hub to the WiFi? I can't seem to figure it out. I connected my phone to the hub via bluetooth to program is, but it complains about no internet when I do that. I'm completely stuck. Thanks for any help. :)

    Just wanted to give my 2 cents. As of May 2020 MyQ app is not requiring a paid subscription to integrate with google home. It gives a free 1 year subscription. Once you add it to google home you can use Siri to operate your Garage door through My Shortcuts app. HOWEVER due to security concerns MyQ/google have disabled the feature to use your voice to open your garage door. The idea is that they don’t want someone to open your garage thru your google home. You can still close the door but not open it.

    I may be alone on this but I like the old fashion door openers. I just dont want to pull my phone to open the door when leaving or coming .I like though you can remote close/open away from home though..unless of course you can use both old and new technology

      i got it for my mom so she can check to see if she has closed the door. she told me many time she had to turn around and go home to double check. now she can be sure and can close it if she forgot all the other stuff is just gravy to her. getting old sucks

    Is there an option to reduce the sound of the alarm when the door is closing or even turn it off? Does it also sound when the door is opening?

    • @Babblingboolean
      @Babblingboolean  Před 6 lety

      Still no option about the sound. It doesn't make any noise when opening.

    • @davidtopper7487
      @davidtopper7487 Před 6 lety

      Excellent about not making a noise when it opens. The door can always be closed the old fashion way with the wall button. I suppose of someone is that bothered by the noise, the speaker wire could be cut. Thanks for the update.

    Can the alert and light on the unit be disabled? If it's as obnoxious as it sounds in your video I think I'd prefer it to be silent.

    • @RobertMehrer
      @RobertMehrer Před 5 lety

      You have to legally have an alert for closing door as its automated to warn people that it is closing

    • @lilblingking1491
      @lilblingking1491 Před 5 lety +1

      According to what law? My garage has sensors at the entrance which prevent it from being closed if anything is between them. That alarm is ridiculously obnoxious and unnecessary for anyone who already has a safety feature built into their garage door opening unit. If it’s not possible to disable the alarm, it’s a total deal breaker for me, and I’m sure for a lot of others as well

    • @caseyneyens

      I agree. I just got this as a gift and feel it’s going to send my dogs through the roof if they keep hearing that beeping at 5:15 AM when I go to work...

    • @RobertMehrer
      @RobertMehrer Před 5 lety

      Any automatic closing door or gate must have a audible or visual warning that the gate or door is closing. If you are not present and close the door how will anyone know it’s closing?

    • @RobertMehrer
      @RobertMehrer Před 5 lety

      Additional requirements for unattended operation. The revised UL 325 added a new section titled, “Unattended operation control accessory,” which provides additional requirements for unattended operation of GDOs, including remote monitoring and unattended activation via wireless or internet-connected devices. To ensure safe unattended operation of GDOs, the new requirements clarify visual and audible alarm operation, include provisions for maintaining compliance with the entrapment protection of an external accessory, and provides the necessary instructions and markings. (New § 1211.14(f)).

    Very disappointed in the new "update" from MyQ. Why do you take away features when you improve the app?!
    One of the very good things about this device was that it notified me when my garage door opened and closed with time. "Garage door just opened at 10am." I purchased this in 2018... and it has worked perfectly. Then recently, it stopped providing time. I tried everything in the app to find out how to get this notification back, to no avail. So this morning I get on chat with customer support..."App improvement, we removed this feature." What?! Why go backward? Good job genius... now I need to find another product that provides this notification.

      you can have up to 4 guest on it. there will be a primary which gets all the features and the other 4 need to be invited to join and control the opener. all they can see is if the opener is open or closed and remote close or open it. no history or alerts. you can only get one primary on each device .

    If you can't tell it how often to send you an alert that your garage door is open, this device is worthless. If my neighbor has to come ring my doorbell to tell me my garage door is open, this device is worse than none. I don't have a 6YO in my house to educate me on how to change the settings that are on the device. Definitely one of the worst apps I've had to deal with.
