I love my lg g5 very much as it is still my darling, slim size, Superb duel Camera, Great screen(555PPI) removable battery, good sound, IR blaster, 2 tb memory storage, Duel sim, NFC, good processor. The 820 and Exynos 8890 trade blows in benchmarks (like in this speed test), depending on which benchmark you look at. So the 8890 isn't exactly 'faster in benchmarks'. Furthermore, the 820 GPU is faster in all GPU tests, from what I've seen, which is worth knowing.
Sorry, we can note the difference between the two displays. LG offers real colors on its IPS Quantum technology. Samsung has a beautiful display, but not so real like the LG. It's easy to find this difference, observe the red tons.

Absolutely hate the black borders around the G5's screen. The S7 Edge really feels like it's just "one" if you know what I mean. On 100% brightness the S7's screen also looks miles better and since smartphones are basically a screen on a mini computer, the screen is really important. S7 exynos version also uses a Wolfson DAC which is pretty great. Even though the Bang & Olufsen DAC module is a great thing and looks stunning, it's heavily overprised for a mobile DAC and the onboard audio of the SD 820 is terrible. I would rather use a Fiio E7 USB DAC for 80 dollars with my device. Why is nobody talking about these terrible HUGE on screen buttons of the G5 and how much space it takes away from the screen (since most apps don't support immersive mode, like CZcams does). Then there's batterylife and ouch LG, you lost this battle. Even on terms of software I'd prefer the S7. I think Touchwiz is better looking than LG UX and the split screen multitasking, edge cards and theme store are great additions. Props to Samsung, you really stepped up your game hugely in every aspect in comparison to the Galaxy S5 (not even 2 years old).

My Xiaomi Mi 3's buttons broke, so I was using the onscreen buttons via Cyanogenmod. Though many many OEMs (even Google's Nexus devices and LG's devices) use on-screen buttons, I really hate the space they take. When apps don't effectively integrate the buttons it just takes so much space up. I'd love on screen buttons if they would be on the place where the S7's buttons are, but they're not. Everyone has their own taste, but you can't deny that they take up space which otherwise could be used for other things
Great video but the finger print scanner test isn't fair since you have to unlock the s7 edge before you can use the sensor, on the g5 you can use it while the screen is off, g5 wins right there.

Bought the G5. Love it so far. I don't go for AMOLED displays as I think they suck as they suffer from degradation and screen burn in. Even apple doesn't want to adopt that technology right now in the iPhone. IPS, to me is king.

Have to say. I do like LG as a brand. I`m still on my LG G3 and was looking forward to the G5 as my next phone.. But they simply did take away one of the things I like about LG phone. The volume rocker on the backside. Also that I still was able to change the back cover to make it more personal. I simply love that. It was the thing that made LG stand out from the rest, So now.... Well I think my next phone will be the G4.

They're both great phones. The difference is mostly only a fraction of a second, differences of 1-2 seconds are already rare, and they are mostly caused by the optimization of the App or the internet quality. Your decision shouldn't depend on those factors, but on the design of the phone, the software, producer-based features and other aspects that are important to you. There is no real difference between these phones that could make you say "No, you shouldn't buy that at all, buy this instead."

My G2 is fast enough (rooted with debloated ROM), I'm sure the G5 is faster. All I care is getting the best camera without loosing features I have on the G2. The G4 had rock solid camera for a phone and the G5 uses the same (one of the two anyway) so I'm good with that. I wish it wasn't ugly though. I actually like the V10 much better but I want the wide angle lens. I will check AndroidPolice review , thanks!

Both these devices are great. I work at a Verizon store and the S7 Edge full price is $791.99 and the G5 is $649.99. For the price I'm leaning more toward the G5 but that edge to edge display on the S7 is freaking dope!!! Performance is about equal and I like some features with the G5 especially the simple fact that with their always on feature you can SPECIFIC notifications. I am so torn between the two.

for me, the LG is a better buy and it's down to fixability if something goes wrong. Samsung's are so hard now to take apart and repair charger ports and such like. The G5 wins hands down on this issue.
both phones are great, you are not going to be disappointed with either, also everyone saying "oh you are pressing the g5 before the s7" "you are holding the icon longer on the g5" "you ate your cereal with your left hand so it's slower than your right one" seriously guys it's not an exact scientific test, just a general comparison, only real difference is the color on the amoled screen (I know g5 brightness is turned down) which has always been very colourful.
Not sure if you're doing it intentionally but your right finger always seems to press the G5 first. It's like it's near impossible for you to press buttons on both phones at the same time. Makes your comparison quite useless.

Good on the G5, makes up for the less than stellar aesthetics IMO. however, I think you tended to tap your right finger a fraction of a second quicker. Still, both phones perform great and in real world usage don't think you'll find a difference.
This is not a performance test. Some of the application test your wi-fi speed, and only some of them test the processor and video processor, but not fully. You should test phones, the way computers are tested - separately for video, separately for memory and processor speeds. For processors - multitasking (many operations at the same time) and single-core operations (one big task). For smarthphones - I'm not aware how any task is separated on the cores and/or if the are single core operations. Atleast - use some good software, add some pressure on the phones. When you open one app, the rest of the apps get paused and don't use any of the resources...
when s7 is faster , you say it faster than g5 .. when g5 faster , you say it SLIGHTLY faster

Half of last year Lg lost 68 million dollars. Tried to use the v 10 to help drive sales only maxing out if you count loses if the 4th quarter they are only making a penny on every phone being sold. Enter the Lg g5 modular design . This has to pay off for them because of the research put in to the development of the phone. That being said while Samsung out selling Apple on the 4th quater of last year who do you think set to go to first place. The decline in sales were from inconsistent phone efficiency. Like how many times a phone breaks down or returned. Lg they lead the pk.

Absolutely hate the black borders around the G5's screen. The S7 Edge really feels like it's just "one" if you know what I mean. On 100% brightness the S7's screen also looks miles better and since smartphones are basically a screen on a mini computer, the screen is really important. S7 exynos version also uses a Wolfson DAC which is pretty great. Even though the Bang & Olufsen DAC module is a great thing and looks stunning, it's heavily overprised for a mobile DAC and the onboard audio of the SD 820 is terrible. I would rather use a Fiio E7 USB DAC for 80 dollars with my device. Why is nobody talking about these terrible HUGE on screen buttons of the G5 and how much space it takes away from the screen (since most apps don't support immersive mode, like CZcams does). Then there's batterylife and ouch LG, you lost this battle. Even on terms of software I'd prefer the S7. I think Touchwiz is better looking than LG UX and the split screen multitasking, edge cards and theme store are great additions. Props to Samsung, you really stepped up your game hugely in every aspect in comparison to the Galaxy S5 (not even 2 years old).
+Xenovuz Xapter I've actually just bought the S7 Edge. Before it I used mainly Xiaomi devices. I'm a pretty hardcore Android fan ever since I stopped using my old iPhone 3. My Xiaomi Mi 3's buttons broke, so I was using the onscreen buttons via Cyanogenmod. Though many many OEMs (even Google's Nexus devices and LG's devices) use on-screen buttons, I really hate the space they take. When apps don't effectively integrate the buttons it just takes so much space up. I'd love on screen buttons if they would be on the place where the S7's buttons are, but they're not. Everyone has their own taste, but you can't deny that they take up space which otherwise could be used for other things
LG has worked on it's UI......so it's performing faster than s7 & also much better than LG G4

Great video but the finger print scanner test isn't fair since you have to unlock the s7 edge before you can use the sensor, on the g5 you can use it while the screen is off, g5 wins right there.

Bought the G5. Love it so far. I don't go for AMOLED displays as I think they suck as they suffer from degradation and screen burn in. Even apple doesn't want to adopt that technology right now in the iPhone. IPS, to me is king.

But they simply did take away one of the things I like about LG phone. The volume rocker on the backside.
Also that I still was able to change the back cover to make it more personal.

Simple explanation for the differences you're seeing here: The S7 has a faster CPU and the G5 has faster onboard storage. Each has its advantage.

your home network is also giving precedence to one phone or the other when it sends it's data packets to the server.
The wifi network on the s7 and g5 is the same. It is displayed at the bottom of the wifi button on the notifications panel.

They're both great phones. The difference is mostly only a fraction of a second, differences of 1-2 seconds are already rare, and they are mostly caused by the optimization of the App or the internet quality.
Your decision shouldn't depend on those factors, but on the design of the phone, the software, producer-based features and other aspects that are important to you. There is no real difference between these phones that could make you say "No, you shouldn't buy that at all, buy this instead."

Thanks! the lack of IR blaster is a deal breaker for me on the Samsung though.. also the better camera on the G5.. but I like Edge's screen and no ugly bezels.
The wide angle lens is a killer.. the extra versatility wins for me as the quality on both is pretty much the best on the market.
My G2 is fast enough (rooted with debloated ROM), I'm sure the G5 is faster. All I care is getting the best camera without loosing features I have on the G2. The G4 had rock solid camera for a phone and the G5 uses the same (one of the two anyway) so I'm good with that. I wish it wasn't ugly though. I actually like the V10 much better but I want the wide angle lens. I will check AndroidPolice review , thanks!

Both these devices are great. I work at a Verizon store and the S7 Edge full price is $791.99 and the G5 is $649.99. For the price I'm leaning more toward the G5 but that edge to edge display on the S7 is freaking dope!!! Performance is about equal and I like some features with the G5 especially the simple fact that with their always on feature you can SPECIFIC notifications. I am so torn between the two.

for me, the LG is a better buy and it's down to fixability if something goes wrong. Samsung's are so hard now to take apart and repair charger ports and such like.

both phones are great, you are not going to be disappointed with either, also everyone saying "oh you are pressing the g5 before the s7" "you are holding the icon longer on the g5" "you ate your cereal with your left hand so it's slower than your right one" seriously guys it's not an exact scientific test, just a general comparison, only real difference is the color on the amoled screen (I know g5 brightness is turned down) which has always been very colourful.

Not sure if you're doing it intentionally but your right finger always seems to press the G5 first. It's like it's near impossible for you to press buttons on both phones at the same time. Makes your comparison quite useless.

The finger touch to open apps on these phones is not in sync .. many a times it is very difficult to judge the results ..
It was very difficult to leave the 100% battery charged? knowing that some companies put some limitations when the batteries start getting below 30%?
Good on the G5, makes up for the less than stellar aesthetics IMO. however, I think you tended to tap your right finger a fraction of a second quicker. Still, both phones perform great and in real world usage don't think you'll find a difference.
This is not a performance test. Some of the application test your wi-fi speed, and only some of them test the processor and video processor, but not fully.
You should test phones, the way computers are tested - separately for video, separately for memory and processor speeds.
For processors - multitasking (many operations at the same time) and single-core operations (one big task). For smarthphones - I'm not aware how any task is separated on the cores and/or if the are single core operations.
Atleast - use some good software, add some pressure on the phones. When you open one app, the rest of the apps get paused and don't use any of the resources...

no there are two models of the s7 for the CPU. there is the Qualcomm 820 8core and the exzynos 8core cpu.
