    Oh dear - can only say if you want to have a really great time in Dublin - ignore most everything here! This is just fluff and advertisements for high end hotels and restaurants. No mention at all of all the wonderful places to visit in Dublin - amazing museums in historical buildings (The National Museum at Collins Barracks) , art galleries including the Hugh Lane which alone is worth a visit to Dublin; the Little Museum of Dublin which she fails to mention just down the street from the Shelbourne, the amazing Irish Museum of Modern Art in the historical Royal Hospital; Kilmainham Gaol, the amazing National Gallery. The gem of Dublin's museums, The Chester Beatty. For architecture the beautiful Casino at Marino. She talked about the blocked up windows on the Bank of Ireland building but failed to mention this was the old Irish Parliament (House of Lords) and well worth a visit inside. Failed to mention the wonderful Georgian squares and historic Henrietta St and the Kings Inns. No mention of the marvelous theaters from the beautiful Victorian Gaiety Theatre to the Abbey, Smock Alley and the contemporary Point and Bord Gais theatres. Failed to mention Dublin's literary connection with the fantastic MOLI (Museum of Literature) and the Writers Museum and the James Joyce Tower in Sandycove. . And for sports fans a game at either Croke Park or the Aviva. Marvelous city walks - Bull Island and the Pool Beg lighthouse, Howth Head and Killing Hill. The historical Glasnevin Cemetery and close by the spectacular Botanical Gardens. For easy day trips outside Dublin - beautiful Glendalough in the Wickow Mountains and the 5,000 year old tombs at Newgrange. And much more! Dublin needs a minimum of a week to explore.

      Was going to say. Didn't even visit a single pub! Everything looked mega American inspired and not true Dublin. Just stuff you could find in any city. Will definitely avoid all the places mentioned in this video (except the Guinness storehouse).

    Honestly a Guiness tour and a luxury hotel? Dublin is so much more and Ireland is so much more. Trinity is ok But there are so many better things Than just shopping. Maybe that is for rich and spoiled american tourists. 😅

    The Bank of Ireland on College Green was built (as the Irish Parliament) before there was any window tax in Ireland. The outer walls function as a decorative screen, and the buildings behind have their own windows.

    Good video but ireland is not really a city country ,the real ireland is outside dublin

      I get tired of people saying this. Of course the country is beautiful all round. But visiting the Lakes of Killarney, The Cliffs of Moher, Galway or Cork are not the only places in Ireland to visit. This video is what it is. A video about Dublin. On another point you would not to a long tour of a country without visiting the major city within. Italy without Rome, America without New York, England without London. Nah, I don't think so. Too many people have a chip on their shoulder about Dublin.

      @@raymonddixon7603 Dublin is an entity unto itself its totally different to any thing we have otherwise in ireland.If i didn't want people going to dublin i wouldn't have said the video was good,but dublin is a day trip at best or two at a push.One could say the same about just visiting skellig michael you would come away thinking was small rocky islands with beehive stone huts on top.You may be tired of hearing it but i won't stop saying it because before the pandemic half of the tourists coming to ireland went no further than dublin yes many of them are weekend breaks ,but not them all.There needs to be much less emphasis on dublin in terms of tourism.

      @@gallowglass2630 Dublin is the most popular destination for tourists. That is ftom people who have visited other parts of the country. I am from Dublin amd live there. I spend a lot of time in Galway, Leitrim and the Louth area, which I love. Dublin has huge attractions outside of the centre. Fabulous beaches, huge parks and great coastal towns. You would need 2 weeks to get a full picture. I am sick of country bias.

      @@raymonddixon7603 I think you have differentiate between the local tourist and the international one.They are parts of my one county lets say the ox mountains that are very nice,but its not worth flying half way around the world for so instead i would point towards the more spectacular places in north sligo/north leitrim.Spending two weeks on just one city is not practical when in the case of the american tourist thats all the holidays you have..

    • @raymonddixon7603
      @raymonddixon7603 Před 2 lety +1

      @@gallowglass2630 I totally agree with all of that. What I am really have a bee in my bonnet about is country people bad mouthing Dublin all the time. Of course I want people to visit the whole of the country. I play trad music, mostly for tourists in hotels and bars in Dublin. I chat to tourists and tell where the various places around the country. I have been doing it for fifty years. I have a good handle on what tourists think and I go out of my way to talk to them. I see it as part of my job.
