- She brought Scottish charm to Los Angeles in Ugly Betty, and shared laughs with Ricky Gervais in hit UK shows like Extras and After Life. Now, Ashley Jensen is swapping LA and laughs for Shetland, where she will be taking up the mantle as the island’s sharpest detective Inspector - Ruth Calder. As series 8 of the famous crime drama approaches, Ashley is here to tell us what we can expect as she takes over from former frontman Douglas Henshall.

I'm also in Western Australia. I love Shetland too and was sorry to see Douglas Henshall leave, but also loved Ashley Jensen in Agatha Raisin, so I'm sure she will be great in Shetland as well.

So far so good with Shetland series 8. Ashley Jensen puts a different slant on the series, as Ruth Calder. The fact that Ruth and Tosh don't exactly gel as cops, adds a further twist. Moody Ruth is working well.....more please.
Hope Agatha Raisin comes back for many more series.
sorry not the same without D Henshall
Ashley is fine but Shetland would never have worked if Tosh and all the other wonderful characters were not still there.
Whoever decided these people would make decent presenters should maybe reconsider their career choices.
