glad you guys saw the light on Kappa Cannoneer, it's fantastic if you can build around it like with Lonis, you're always playing it for 1 and it's always getting huge unless somebody wants to leave a bunch of mana open to answer it

Morbid opportunist has been slept on for so long, I've been playing this in so many decks now and it's great. Even in aristocrats decks what pushes this above in a lot of cases is the ability to trigger off tokens as well
I use him in my toxrill deck.

4:55 you can bounce them, but the best removal in blue are counterspells. The problem is, you have to have it at the right time and enough mana to answer enchantments.
Exactly, if an enchantment resolves if becomes extremely hard to answer
@@NitpickingNerds At least Red does have a way to get around this. Liquimetal Torque can turn the enchantment into an artifact so you can deal with it. Since Blue is stuck with like 1 good artifact removal card, it can't even do that. Blue has it rough.
And then there's white with its free enchantment boardwipe(Patrician's Scorn).
A hard counter to this will cost 2 mana some of the time, but 3 or 4 usually. A 3 mana counter to something they’re likely going to tap out for? I think that’s a trade you should always make.
Or cast steal enchantment

The funny thing about Cabal Stronghold is that if you have Urborg in a two-color deck, the basic lands of the other type (e.g. Mountains) do actually count. 😂

Idol of Oblivion is lots of fun! I first put it in Kykar because with her in play you get a token on cast and it’s up, also love it in Prosper where I always make treasure. The best trick is having Osgir bring back two Idol tokens that can immediately tap for cards.
I think you guys are the first CZcamsr's to give Zagras I hint of respect 🤘 I've built my Zagras into a monster. Love underplayed commanders.
I've always liked True Conviction in any of my combat-focused decks; it's one of my favorite staples, in fact. That card is pretty insane if you're also hitting the other static keywords like vigilance and deathtouch. Works well with stuff like Ankle Shanker or Archetype of Finality
As a longtime enchantress player (like, since Urza's Saga), I slept on Wanderer myself for a while. But you're right: it's like "Do you want another two-mana enchantress that only draws you lands?" The answer is probably "yes."

A friendly fun fact Amulet of Vigor makes tapped lands playable as it is a 1 drop colorless artifact that says "Whenever a permanent enters the battlefield tapped and under your control, untap it."
A cascade deck with an Averna commander is so fun. Non-threatening commander that runs you into ramp, and then cascade just lets you get so many extra cards out for free
Brazen borrower is in my yuriko deck.
It's not often it bounces, becomes a flyer, an goes back to my hand then I use her again. But, whenever it's in my hand it gets used with atleast 1 part of the card. Mostly bouncing. But shes has pulled through as an emergency evasive a few times after a board wipe. It's just always worked so well, whenever it's in my hand. Love that card
Man. My kid was heavy into sky landers and I was always so pumped to go buy them with him. To me they were like the intro to collectibles like Magic for him.
Also I hear in a powered down, combat focused meta Grave Titan is pretty good.
Blastoise (Kappa Cannoneer) is a lot of fun. I played mine last night and it was a 36/36. I had Panharmonicon, Sharding Sphinx and nineteen thopters. My favorite turtle was going to get forty-two more counters on it but my opponents wiped the field before I could get back to my turn.
Was able to flicker Morbid Opportunist with a sacrifice trigger on the stack to draw two cards each turn. *chefs kiss*

First time I've played Apex Devastator, I've cast it, hit 3 Mana Rocks, and Forceful Denial as 4th spell. It was Sultai deck, made in Commander Legends Draft, basically just for casting AD, so maybe a bit too many Mana Rocks, but sill...

Me and my nephew played those all the time together because it was a game he could get into at 5 years old, and since the figures saved the data and progress of the digital version, we could grab a controller and our favorite character and go to the others house and game all day without having to worry about signing in to xbox live or other service.
So it will always have a place in my heart for the ease of use it brought to a digital game.

Need to try Breya's Apprentice in Prosper. Also, unrelated but I wanted to share: the other day I was playing Chatterfang and used the Great Aurora while I had over 30 tokens. It was the that I realized my Nadier's Servant doesn't trigger when tokens get sent to the grave, it's whenever the leave the battlefield at all...

These my fav lists cause it shows me NEW cards I don't know yet. I read Greater Good like "Wow that is a value card." thought it was a sorcery, then saw Enchantment I was like how is this not in every deck!
I've got Kappa Cannoneer in my Brudiclad deck and it goes infinite with Urza and Animation Module to start which is just a plus but my last game I played I made a single copy of it and because of the pseudo hexproof they couldn't be removed and I ended up with 6, all power over 10 and swinging unlockable every turn because Brudiclad makes a new myr(which then becomes a new Cannoneer) at all of your combats. It also works great with Breath of Fury in the same because 1. It becomes unlockable as fore mentioned 2. Tokens have haste. My play group didn't understand why I liked this card so much initially but now they definitely do. 😅

This is my absolute favorite channel for Commander deck tech and probably my favorite Magic channel. You guys rock. And I'm so glad that you've lowered your power level. My decks are super budget (outside of higher cost cards I've either pulled or have had in my collection for a while) so this is great to see. I run Greater Good in my Rienne deck because she pumps power AND you want to sac creatures because you'll get them back. That's one tool that the new Liesa doesn't have! I've had Edgar Markov for a long time, way before his price spiked due to Crimson Vow. Idol of Oblivion is PERFECT for that deck because you are always creating tokens. I play Morbid Opportunist on Arena and it's always produced value for me there. Unfortunately, I had to choose between Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow and I chose Crimson Vow, so I have very few MH cards. It's on my list once I have a singles budget again. And I picked up the Kotori Buckle Up deck because I've been wanting an artifact creature matters/vehicle deck for a while. I just modified it and I can't wait to try out Kappa Cannoneer in there. BTW, I put Liquimetal Torque in there. While I don't recommend it for every deck, I think it's an underrated 2MV mana rock for any deck that cares about artifacts OR has a lot of ways to destroy artifacts. While it doesn't really synergize with Blastoise (since you either tap it for mana, tap it for Improvise, or tap it to make something else an artifact just to tap it for Improvise), the deck has a fair amount of Affinity and "artifacts matter." I can also use it to make a non-artifact creature an artifact so Kotori can give it Vigilance and Lifelink. Good stuff. Thanks for the content you produce. Once I can afford singles again, I'll definitely use your affiliate link for TCG Player. And Culling Ritual is SICK. I have very little Strixhaven so I need to pick this up for Otrimi.
Nice to see Goreclaw on your list! I played your exact Commander Cube (pre Kamigawa) this weekend and it really enabled me to break the board stall. Took out all of my four opponents one by one in subsequent turns. Your cube really is the most fun Magic format ever, we had a total blast playing it. Seriously, we've been playing for years and this was the best magic experience ever. I am really looking forward to you guys making a video about the huge Kamigawa update!

Apex Devastator is used in cEDH as well. It's mainly used in decks like Selvala and Marwyn, that are capable of producing 10 mana as early as turn 4 fairly consistently, but outside of that it doesn't see much cEDH play.
There are exception to every rule :)

I know you boys aren't into reliquary tower in mono green. I suggest checking out Selvala Brostorm on Maxfield. It's a green deck that does like having a no maximum hand size. I run momentous fall and greater good in the deck and have lots of fun with a giant hand! I even throw in a copy of spellbook from tenth edition for another funzies no hand max card. It can atleast buy you time until your next turn running "no hand max" cards, inevitably leading you to a win by next turn. I mean if you can't pull off a turn 4-5 win with Selvala, you should try Boros or something...lol

I had a play set of Brazen Borrower left over from my Standard days and since I had copies sitting in a binder started putting them in some of my EDH decks. It’s never been dead in my hand.

I love this series, I do use most of these cards, a lot of the time it's like "that's pretty good" and ends up doing even better
Morbid Opportunist sees token creatures dying, whereas similar creatures tend not to. That's a HUGE strength. You really do care about your own death triggers if you're running him in a tokens-heavy deck.
I adore Akroma's Will! Such a nice combat victory card for white. I bought a few earlier just to have on hand for future decks!

True Conviction is my primary wincon in my Breena aggro deck. So powerful!

Also, Brazen Borrower in Ninja decks. If you Petty Theft, you cast the Borrower, swing, ninjutsu, and then you can Petty Theft again. Mana Advantage for DAYZ.

Interesting interaction with Cabal Stronghold that people miss. If you play Urborg and you have basic islands, forests, mountains, or plains, they are now also now considered basic swamps because they are still basic lands. So an island affected by Urborg will count towards Cabal Stronghold’s basic swamp requirement.

In my Doran treefolk tribal deck, since I don't have big boards and my treefolks have big butts but small power, I use Akroma's Will and True Conviction as finishers!

Yeah Culling Ritual is super strong just because there's always shitty tokens on the field. In my limited experience, the worst it has worked out is 4 mana, kill 3 things, refund 3 mana.

Completely agree with Culling Ritual. I play it in my Jund Tana/Tevesh token aggro deck and it does work every single time. Even if I end up killing a bunch of my own tokens, I’m always super fine with trading in some tokens from for example Tana for a bunch of mana.
It just does more than I think it would!
Glad Akroma's Will is getting some recognition its won me so many games by just being able to kill the person in the lead and taking their place with a bunch more life on top of it

Totally agree with idol of oblivion, I recently tried it in my Orvar deck, and it is super good.
If you're playing Culling Ritual, Veteran Explorer and Viridian Emissary are nice creatures to have in play. It's ramptastic. 4 or 5 mana plus whatever else you destroy.

Cmc G, aura, whenever enchanted creature dies, draw 2 cards.
It's busted in Muldrotha.
My best culling ritual was against a Sythis deck, took out Sythis and all of the auras and enchantments they owned. Notably I casted it off another player’s deck with Pako & Haldan.
That makes it even spicier
The issue with Morbid Opportunist is it triggers only once a turn. So Sure you can draw a card on each of your opponents turns potentially, but i still prefer the other options over this one most of the time.
It is good when you are drawing off of others cards but yeah the once per turn is rough at times

3 mana nissa is nuts in token decks too. I have it in my BG walkers deck that just spits out tokens. that -2 changed a board of chump blockers into a lethal threat. super sweet card even without counter synergies!!
I am avoiding it in most decks that don’t have the counters synergies but I see where you are coming from

For removing enchantments, blue can bounce them to the hand but not as good as removing them. At least, your opponents would have to use mana to recast them. Funny that you showed Brazen Borrower as the next card when talking about enchantment removal.
Yeah it is solid interaction but still just stinks how stick enchantments are
With the abundance of removal, Petty Theft is a far lower pick than a bounce for my permeants. Something like Alchemist's Retrieval is a 1 mana counter spell (especially when you care about your planeswalkers/enchantments/artifacts sticking) yet can be use as the most potent tempo ever when they make a swole token.
Is Brazen B good in a deck that cares about flashing in your creatures? Yes. But your goal is to play the 3/1 and hope to get a free Petty Theft
Goreclaw is one of my favorite commanders. And apex devastator is always an immediate win there
brazen borrower not only triggers new ninjas, also a ninja enabler
Xenagos is playing Reliquary Tower, Greater Good with some utility lands (trample / unblockable) along with Crop Rotation. :)
If you have both white and green and you can get out a Cathar's crusade, you can do Nissa's plus AND minus for just the plus cost ♥️🙏🏻
Solitary Confinement is low key awesome. As long as you have cards draw you're golden. If you're playing this song side Enchantress's, you don't need to worry about the levering of your draw step.

@@NitpickingNerds I have it there, and in my theros God Tribal deck, plus I am wanting to make a modern/anything goes Enchantress deck for it. It's downside really doesn't feel like one if you build around it. If you do build that sythis deck I would love to see the decklist.
I’ve played cannoner in Eloise and that deck can easily turn it into a 1 mana 7/7 with unblockable and semi-hexproof.
One thing cool about cabal stronghold is if you have urborg your none swamp basics will now count. Also our meta has a lot of nonbasic hate like blood moon ruination and back to basics. So I have to walk a fine like of how many nonbasics I can run.
Very unrelated, but I actually do have a reliquary tower in my mono green deck. Don’t have greater good though, but honestly I don’t need it in that deck specifically. If people are curious about the deck I’ll elaborate in the comments
Greater Good with Woodfall Primus and a way to have your creatures enter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter is basically game over.
I understand the sentiment but I would probably use blasting station if it were me just because it actually guarantees I’m going to win and not just create a miserable board state

@@HomeCookinMTG understandable, but drawing your deck will get you there. I do it in my Minna and Denn deck where the PIPs are important for Nykthos. And it allows me to sacrifice things I don’t need any more to dig for things I do. Primus is just funny. But I sacrifice Regal Force if it didn’t get me there. Saturday, I had to sacrifice the star/star (apparently asterisks appear as blank?) Primeval Titan thing to it to find the final piece.
I put Morbid Opportunist in my Kuon deck. At first I underestimated this card too, until I noticed it says each turn, not your turn, that’s gross.
Greater Good is really an awesome sac outlet. Using it as a combo with aura theif/reveillark/enchanted evening to close out the game in a Tuvasa deck I recently built.

True Conviction is such a dead card in an opening hand, but an absolute MUST ANSWER THREAT in the mid to late game. It elicits groans from people who do not have enchantment removal, let's put it that way.

Field of grains... cabal stronghold but for plains. It could also be called field of weeds. As in they are growing over the other lands?...like weeds.
Breya's Apprentence is 2 mana rocks for a 3 cmc investment in Galazeth that can also give pseudo card draw in a pinch. I like.

I think Morbid opportunist fits well in some aristocrats decks too, as it is not non-token compared to many of the others...sac a token every turn nothing else is dying.
I've got Morbid Opportunist and Deathreap ritual in my Meren Aristocrats deck. They both overperform for the exact reason you stated; they don't care if it's tokens dying.
To be fair, aristocrats isn't saccing too much for value during opponent's turns but if you play cards like ophiomancer, culling dais and phyrexian altar you can get decent value on opponent's turns. Can you think of other cards that synergize with saccing specifically on opponent's turns?
Unrelated but can you guys make a video addressing how to reduce EDH decks? I currently have 40+ with tons of precons unopened. I want to reduce my EDH to maybe just a dozen or so help! Maybe an ultimate guide to the 32 EDH deck challenge.
Morbid opportunist is great with Teysa Karlov aristocrats. She can potentially double this effect.
