Thank you for this excellent topic. I started to learn the flute at 50. I am almost 52. i want to scream because I still do not have a pretty flute tone. I am lucky because I have a patient teacher and I subscribe to informative and inspirational channels such as this one. You are one of my favorites as you have very practical solutions. Thank you?
This is brilliant, I am only grade 2/3 and took up flute during the second lockdown in the UK, I felt I was doing ok, then around MY this year everything seemed to go down hill, I couldn’t blow a note above the stave what ever I seem to try. The more I tried the worse it seemed to be. Playing today 11/11/23 I realised what my teacher has been saying that some of my low notes have a really lovely tone, and the higher notes are actually sounded much better. I will take all you have said on board. Thank you

I am definitley at this point. I spent the last 13 years trying to understand why can't I get better on flute. I changed five teachers at the Consevatory (in the last three years for
bureaucracy changes) and no one would have ever give me a chance. I started playing the flute when I was eight (in a music school) and now I'm 21 (going for 22) and during all those years no one ever give me the fundamentals. Fundamentals which I'm trying to learn from videos on CZcams, Flute blog and all the book good flutist study with. I have literally no idea of what I have to do now. I'm confused, I'm frustrated and I have a low self-confidence. This video really helped! In Italy we don't talk about this topic (that much), like all the flutist are good and can't even exist those one who haven't got the same luck as others. So, thanks for the video.
Yes, I can relate that this isn't talked about very much and that feeling of everyone just seemingly/naturally having it all figured out. I became very interested in mindset because I didn't know of any other way than just "practicing more" for a while.
