I liked almost everything. The marble counter top seemed uncomfortably out of place to me. Those cabinets are sweet.

This is a historic home and shouldn't be tampered with--just the rewiring, plumbing and other things that make the house unsafe.
It almost makes me nauseated to see the changes that are not in keeping with the history of the house.
Happydays - they kept most of the history, just changed it with white paint!

The decor felt so weird, not digging the combination of color and materials. The atrium was the only thing I liked about this makeover.
I don't connect to this redecoration at all, but that's just me. I'm sure some people will love it.
same with me - i like the layered/texture thing.
i dig some other stuff their brilliant i have mixed feeling about that entrance (before reno nor after)
I 'm stunned actually. I've a great love for recycled red brick, and traditional midcentury modern. Like the kitchen cabinet doors. Redwood paneling comes back to life, with a 1/3 ammonia & olive oil, and water with 1 / 20% dishwashing detergent. shake and wipe with rag, the dirt is amazing. Redwood absorbs fireplace soot and a good cleaning turns it red again w/ orange highlights. Too late now.
Boy, they ruined another one with the white paint. Why are they pretending to preserve the style? It's heartbreaking! (And I love white paint, I paint everything white, too, it's just not this mid-century style to paint the wood paneling white.) The railing is terrible, though I can see why they need it if they have kids. Atrium is cool, though. Very cool. All that marble in the kitchen is just, ugh. No. It's too much. I'm sure it's a wonderful house to live in, but I think they should try to find a new way to update those mid century houses that keeps more of the original style.
What an interesting and unique home. You preserved all the character, but made it feel fresher and more uplifting. For the naysayers, there is nothing historical about dark wood and red brick. Those are just finishes.
I would have like to have seen large plants in the foyer

Kitchen feels small, and they’re going to hate having the microwave tucked into the corner like that.
The microwave is actually a drawer, seeing these a lot lately.

beautiful home, kitchen and courtyard but the entrance with the railings and water feature were a let down. Seemed like entry into a theme park instead of a grand entrance to a beautiful home

i was wondering the same. probably add the furniture price.
But 1000000 is way too much! They plastered the fireplace. put carpet, painted the walls white, added some stone in the atrium. I dont think that would have costed more than 20k. Remaining Kitchen expenses, 40k for the custom cabinets top.

Very sad living room and family room. No comfortable seating, no art, no furniture, no color or depth, no warmth... it feels like a sofa and a couple of uncomfortable chairs were thrown there.
