- A demonstration on how I form and release 5 wooden rings for use on projects like goblets and babies rattles.
Wenge and Beech woodturning, using a bowl gouge, parting tool and a skew chisel. - Jak na to + styl
I watch a lot of woodworkers on CZcams although I have no interest in practicing myself and I am very grateful that you share it on here as I feel like I get to absorb the art for a quick moment. This one was so quick though! I would be happy to see you pick the bits of wood and explain where they came from, glue and clamp then together and describe what you're thinking for design. Most of the CZcamsrs I watch give a pretty clear picture of what they're going to produce beforehand but your designs never fail to amaze me. Thanks for all you do.
Sorry it was too quick Lois. I like to try and please all viewers, whilst incorporating as much of the process as most would enjoy watching. Being producer, editor, special effect guy, stunt man and all the others that go into making such videos is hella challenging 🤣 as you go though my past vids, you’ll see lots of little changes, hopefully all for the better, such as I used to incorporate music, but several people mentioned they didn’t like it, so I stopped with the somewhat epic music (least I thought so! 🤣)
Anyways I’ll plod on and I hope you continue to watch my approximate monthly vids and I look forward to more of your comments 😁😁😁👍
🤩that's certainly a lot to be doing at once@@WoodWithD! You're right though - you can't please everyone
Brilliant as always Rick
Thank you Joe, glad you enjoyed it 😁👍
Very nice! Well done! Thanks for taking us along!
Glad you enjoyed it Peter! Lots more to share, I hope you continue to enjoy 😊 👍
I have tried captive rings before without the greatest of results, I now know where I was going wrong very useful 😊
I wanna see your finished masterpiece when it’s complete mate 😁👍

Kind of a split personality on this one. I really like the simplicity of the goblet with the 5 rings. Thanks for sharing it.
Lol, defo has a dark side 🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful work Richard, I love the method you used for sanding the inside of the rings, very clever 😃
My pleasure sir 🤣🤣🤣❤️
I was really enjoying watching that, then the best bit didn't even happen! 😢 Still a very nice piece, looks Smashing 😍
🤣🤣🤣 Shhhhhh, don’t tell everyone! 🤣🤣🤣
Two captive rings is IMPRESSIVE, but five captive rings is JUST PLAIN SHOWING OFF 🤣🤣🤣. Well done Dick👍👍👍. Thank you for sharing. Be safe 🇨🇦

I’m coming to Canada next week! Well
Vancouver for a few days and Vancouver Island for a few days.
Can you recommend a wood store I should visit and pick up a certain bit of wood to pop in my suitcase to bring home?
Hope you are well 😁👍
@@WoodWithD Sorry Dick, I live in Ontario
Hi Richard just catching up on what I’ve missed. Great job thanks for showing me how it’s done I might even try one. You should be a comedian “ not very good with a chisel “. Hahaha. Cheers mate🇦🇺
🤣🤣🤣🤣 It’s true! I just poke them at the wood and see what happens! 🤣🤣🤣
Again, very nice work!
🙏 😊 👍👍👍👍😁
This looks great and the contrasting colours are very effective. Awesome work on the rings.
Haven't made a captive ring in ages, should really consider one again some point.
Defo! Hopefully your video will do better the mine did 😜🤣👍
@@WoodWithD Lol, doubt it. My views tend to be up and down in the low range

Wenge, it stunning! Such distinctive colours!
I mess up the spelling too sometime, within the videos, so not changeable once uploaded 🤣🤣🤣😞
What a tidy bit of design. Well executed. Just a touch longer on the neck, so my wife said…
Lol, so she can fit more wine in it?
@@WoodWithD now you’re getting the idea.

Love it! So…. Request time… can you do a twisty stem next time please 😁😁😁
Of course, no problem at all, would you like bells on it too? Maybe some turned glass baubles?
@@WoodWithD amazing, thank you! You are so accommodating, I don’t believe what other people say. Ooo while you are offering baubles, can you make them in the shape of bulldogs too please?! 😁😂
@@coopsbury not a problem Cheryl, I’ll even turn the goblet as an interpretation of your head! One side happy smiles and the other the loom when you’re cross!
@@WoodWithD pmsl 😂😂😂 I don’t know what you mean! I am happiness personified, a pure delight! 😂😂😂
