She has made the best of a bad situation and I think she probably is a very good mother given the circumstances, but we need to chill with celebrating single mothers who breed for wotless baby fathers. If we keep heralding them as "amazing", it will only worsen the massive (and growing) issue of single/ teenage motherhood in the black community. I never see a married couple in their 30s who successfully raise a child together called "amazing" by anyone. In reality THAT is what we should be praising and aiming for. As someone who has worked with Deaf children and people in general it’s great to see Evelyn being so proactive with her daughter’s identity. Being Deaf is a disability, albeit an “invisible” one and British sign language only became an official language, March 2003.

Thank you. It’s looks like full blown NPD to me. I’ve got one in my family so I know what narcissistic abuse feels like. Besides the more obvious signs of narcissism, I clocked it from where she said he would disappear for 11 months at a time and overcompensate with kindness only to f her over again. Overcompensation is a form of disarmament. Getting you to put your guard down. Sounds like he spent those breaks looking for supplies and ran out of them, so he kept coming back to her because he knew Evelyn wanted for her daughter to have a male presence and used that as leverage to turn her into his supply once again. The one in my family did exactly the same thing to my parents and I. She would disappear for 2-5 years at a time. It’s damn scary.
