- Fender Custom Shop signature artist G.E. Smith is perhaps best known for his Emmy-winning decade as the distinctively ponytailed musical director for Saturday Night Live, six years of tours with Hall & Oates, NET (never ending tour) with Bob Dylan and Rogers Waters, and gigs with David Bowie, Mick Jagger, and Tina Turner among many others. Smith checks in with a variety of vintage Fender gear to talk about his latest project as well as his own connection to Fender throughout his life.
For every artist that contributes a check-in, Fender will make a donation to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

I could Listen to G.E talk about teles and anything music for ever.
Gotta tell you. GE is a great story teller. He's just as into telling it as we are to listen. Plus he's got the playing chops to bring it all together.
We couldn't agree more, R J 🙌
Huge fan of his story telling & guitar playing
Anytime❤
Long live for many years to come G.E Smith with that tele:)
Anything with GE Smith, I’m in!
It's great to hear a guy like him say he's still learning.
Please please bring back his signature tele. I have been searching and searching for one, every-time I think I have found the right one, something falls through. The G.E Smith telecaster is my Eleanor.
i hope you find one,i have one and they are truely fantastic instruments, its the only guitar i own, good luck my friend
I know!! I wish they'd reissue them as well. The red one is what I've been trying to get for years. Beautiful guitars that I wish Fender kept making for longer than they did.
Fender! you see ? This is your downfall ...listen to your customer base....the ge smith model was a great guitar!
@@imannonymous7707 downfall?! Lol they are doing fine
G.E. Smith is one of my favorites. Truly honors the past and keeps pushing the instrument forward.
The man is THE go to authority on everything fender...
This guy is my guitar hero. I remember being a kid watching SNL and the only part of the show I cared about was when I got to see him playing. One of the greatest musicians ever.
Me too and hes toured as a sideman for bob dylan and rodger waters.....but he was the thing you waited to see on snl in the 80s n 90s ...those were the days
Dear Fender: PLEASE bring back the G.E. Smith signature Telecaster. PLEASE.
I love this chap.. laid back cool player.. and he loves that old telecaster.... can you imagine how much music has been played on that thing.. brilliant.. love any video GE is in👍
Had the pleasure of seeing GE on tour about 20 years ago in a medium-sized local club, and the band was hotter than Chernobyl carbon rods. I got up the nerve to ask him about his telecaster during a break between sets. Yep, the one in the video... Very accommodating, friendly, and thanked me for coming to the show.
Please bring back the G.E. Smith sig. model!
The Fender Telecaster...absolute perfection. It's the WHEEL!
This man is a legend! Good to see you, Mr Smith! Keep on, keepin' on.
Come on Fender, bring back the GE Smith Telecaster. He's one of the best guitarists of all time.
Always love to listen to G.E Smith's guitar and music story!
Now this is the man who I want to learn guitar from. And now I want a tele
Love you GE! I enjoyed you so much on SNL back in the day!
Hey GE, you’re a great storyteller to listen to. Why don’t you start a podcast and do interviews with all your friends from the entertainment world
I first heard of G E Smith in the mid 90's via an excellent interview & gear extravaganza in an American guitar magazine. Over here 🇬🇧 , I never heard his playing until the Telecaster double dvd & later You Tube . Awesome demonstration of the versatility of an old Blackguard and a good guy 👌
Thank you G.E. Smith for everything. Such great memories of you rocking it on SNL and with so many others.
All the thumbs down for what?? People are painfully ignorant.
Yep.... but long live rocknroll!! . Talent cant be denied
When you get a good Tele you never let it go
Yes. One of the best Fender Vids yet!!
Thanks Geo - it is so important that you give us the story behind the scene - YOU ARE ON COOL CAT!
Cheers, I want to get you to sign my tele.
This guys cool as ice. And hes why i love me a tele and 50s era fender
Awesome. G.E. Smith - L E G E N D
Is amazing the progress of the telecaster
It’s so cool to turn on the CZcams And GE Smith is here to turn YOU On. Oh the record time we’ve shared. Thanks GE 🙏
Ge smith, ohh shit, that takes me back to staying up late
My son is very interested in guitars and I'm gonna buy him this one
I’d suggest getting a squier or something of less quality in case he isn’t super interested in playing
1950's "black guard" Telecaster will run you about $30,000 - $40,000 USD.
This video proves you can’t have too many Teles
Or too many Champs.
Alan Levesque true
Wonder if all them teles are his?? Haha cool
@@teddyboy9116 Hello , fancy seeing you here 😊
@@shaunw9270 u alright shaun? Haha don't tell Rob!! Hahaha
I love his stories
Would have been cool to be quarantined at his place
GE Smith! Yeah, Long time no see!
👍 Good friend 🙂 💫 👍 beautiful Telecaster. 🙂 💫 👍
Have one of G.E’s first records with The Scratch Band from New Haven,Ct! Really cool stuff!!
Aí e fera .... Que som 👏👏👏👏
“Ain’t that sweet”:)
Gotta love a Tele ❤
Dear Fender: this is what the "Artist Series" is all about. I don't know how many of these I've suffered through with jumped-up children playing the most basic and underwhelming "music" that I wouldn't suffer in a coffeehouse. I see those videos and wonder why I shouldn't try to convince you to send me one, too. I see this, and think it's time for me to buy another one...I think you get what I mean...
✌️awesome
Hey, GE, you don't have to know anything on steel. I've got a great cheat for anyone who doesn't know theory at all. If I'd had this when I was 15, I would've spent my life in Hawaii. I'm 65 and still might 😊
Been playing guitar since 73 and have never played a tele!.
You need to "go get yourself a telecaster, a GE Smith telecaster, Fender Telecaster"....
Thank you GE.
G.E. ....THE definition of Cool ✌🏼
Looks like Nicko McBrain
ILY GE
You only need one guitar, apart from a telecaster, you can't have too many telecasters
God save GE Smith
I love G.E. Smith’s playing! I made a guitar channel myself. Check me out and come along for the journey!
I'm on welfare and I have 5 Telecasters. Everyone should have at least 3...

Tragedy that Mr. Fender sold his name for money, one the the biggest mistakes EVER.
