Aluminium is hard to weld on since the alloys can vary ALOT. It looks like you need to let off on the pedal in the end, it's too hot. Also add some more filler in the end. When using liquid gasket, don't use too much of it. If there's no damage to the flanges, just a tiny bit can keep it sealed. When overusing it, you'll get the red blobs on the side of the engine, which isn't a problem, but it's also on the inside. If some extra sealant gets loose, it can in worst case clog up an oilport and do some real damage to the engine.
Nice to see that this time you lubed up the O-ring as suggested by my last comment on the burned bike. Its cool to see you learning as you go and take on these challenges. Keep up the great work, enjoying the video's.
The excess engine sealant is going to clog the oil pickup screen and cause your engine to run dry. When you're welding you feed the rod into the puddle, you don't tap it down on the unmelted metal. Less heat and more filler at the end will fill in the crater. Dont move the torch a few seconds after youre done til the puddle solidifies.
I'd definitely take this to a professional welder..but, you CJ my friend, so awesome cause you just take the chance, whatever the end result might be. This is admirable and that's the way you learn and develop your skills. This is amazing, can't wait for the next uodate!
Hi CJ, lots of learning mate, really nice welding machine....pretty cool stuff. Maybe you should consider building a frame to get the new aluminium pieces together before welding them . Welding aluminium is never easy . My two cents.
Tbh you should got a spool gun it’s way easier to use and a lot quicker than tig is good for super thin metal like charge pipes. I’m a mig welder so my opinion might be alittle bias. But this gaps are nothing with mig 😂. Good luck nice build
thats way too much RTV. There was so much overflow when installing timing chain cover, let alone on the inside. Put a light bead all around, then spread it with your finger.
I hope it isn't too much, according to service information they said 3-5mm bead around all the cases. I cleaned off quite a bit off the old cases so I assumed a bit of overfill wouldn't be bad. I hope it works out. I mean it's not too bad to take apart again lol
I don't think is is too bad you don't have any components too close so extra ain't gonna kill it at least we know that will be sealed tight I bet a lot of the guys saying it's too much have to go back and reseal when there's start leaking
I hope you set all the clips from the Wrist pins right!? The opening has to face straight up or down. Otherwise they can flutter and dislodge themselves. And you don't want that!!!!
I think the reason for so many gasket comments is because the gasket is bright red, giving the allusion it's globbed on. There is a very small overflow beed on all the cases. I'm sure it's not too much and if so I will just take it off again lol
There is a metal pin that sticks out bast the blades on the inside. That metal pin runs all the way from the outside through to the inside. Thats what the press was using as a tension point. No harm done to the blades. They were under no load, cheers
Ok, then I hope that the shaft ist still straight. 😉 Different questions: why didn't you practice to weld two Aluminium pieces together instead of making beads on a flat piece? It's a huge difference, because the edge will melt and run away if settings are wrong.
Your actually going to weld critical chassis components and you have absolutely no welding experience and aluminium which is totally different to welding steel. I hope you at least get your welds checked by professionals before putting this on the road.

Use the downslope-setting on your TIG-welder to prevent dents. Downslope slowly reduces the power. Good luck with your projects!

It can clog all the tiny holes of the oil gallery, screens and the pickup.
