Mourning Gecko Care Guide & Basic Information

Hello! You've found my quick and simple guide for the care of Mourning Geckos!
In this video, I'll outline some basic information about these animals, and then talk a bit about how I have set up their terrarium.
These animals do particularly well when kept in a bioactive setup with UV lighting. Though this is not a requirement for their survival, they do seem to thrive and breed faster when kept this way. It also adds the additional humidity which is something you will need to pay particular attention to when keeping them.
As you'll also see, feeding these animals is quite easy and inexpensive. They sustain themselves mostly on store bought gecko foods like Repashy, but should also be offered occasional feeder insects like crickets and fruit flies. Doing so will ensure their long-term health and survival.
If kept correctly, Mourning geckos will breed quickly and with little need for any further intervention. They have an incredible ability to reproduce, even when kept separately, so be prepared to have a large colony of geckos on your hands within a few years!
It is worth noting, that due to these factors, these animals are often kept and bred for the use in feeding other, larger lizards. Though my intention has always been to enjoy them as pets and watch their unique and amazing behaviour, what you choose to do is up to you, and I wouldn't judge either way. All animals need to eat.. including me :)
