There is a theory out there that Scar is actually Mufasa's half brother, if his dad had an affair with a female he liked less than Mufasa's mom then it aligns with how this plays out. He plays favorites

This is one of my most personal favorite videos. It took a lot of talent to create such a piece in my opinion. Using this beautiful soundtrack really creates the feel and the emotion through the pictures- Which the art is all different artist. That is very impressive that they blend together so well. Not to mention I personally know this is the most common Taka/Scar Theory in the TLK fandom. This is the version most choose to believe and I love it!
Wow, I remember this video! After so many years, I found it again!!! this sure looks pretty good and accurate to Mufasa and Scar's childhood. Wish Disney made a movie on when Mufasa was a cub, then we'd meet Simba's grandparents.

BY THE WAY to all who dont know, Scar/Taka was in love with SARABI, so on top of all the daddy-loves-me-less crap, he also faced the heartbreak that lead to his even greater outrage and feeling of betrayal. So, in short, Scar/Taka sees his brother Mufasa as the cause for all of his misery. And the scar wasnt given by Musafa or Ahadi, Scar/Taka plotted to get his brother in trouble as a child and his mini-plot turned on him and left him with his scar.

Who doesn't agree that Mufasa and Taka/Scar's childhood should've been a prequel to the actual Lion King? I wanted to know who Mufasa's father was when he mentioned it to Simba. There really should have been 3 movies. I'm just explaining what should transpire in my opinion though i dont claim what i know about this. The first starts off with Mohatu and a terrible accident leaves him with his only daughter Uru. Also as she meets Ahadi, an outlander, it becomes a struggle to gain Mohatu's approval and take their place in the Circle of Life. The 2nd movie should about how Ahadi's dream affects the way he he treats Taka and focuses his attention to Mufasa. It should start off with Mohatu guiding Ahadi as a parent with his two baby sons. This could be pretty funny. All is going well until the night Ahadi has a dream about Taka's future. The next morning he is lost in thought so he talks to Mohatu. He tells Ahadi not to dwell on it and treat them mutually well. Even so, later on, he asks Rafiki for help and tells him what's been troubling him. Rafiki says, Mufasa and Taka are two parts of a whole. Mufasa has the makings of a true king, but Taka's heart burns with hate and revenge.
That certainly would've been better than that tripe they gave us in LK2!

This has always been my favourite Taka/Scar video! The art and the music go together so wonderfully! I also much prefer this version over him getting his scar from a water buffalo. It seems strange how Kovu got this scar from a slap and it looks the exact same as Takas scar don't you think? I'm pretty sure a water buffalo would leave more than a tiny little cut on his eye. Just my opinion..

ilovelions4life It actually was a buffalo. It's more canon than any other theory. The tip of the horn scratched Taka's eye, that's how. It happened when he set a trap for Mufasa, but failed badly. And if Taka's/Scar's father scratched him, it should've been more than one mark left :/ Kovu's scar by Zira was un-realistic. He only got a scar looking exactly like Scar's to show that he was supposed to help him get his revenge (tho Kovu didn't want this in the end)

Scar reminds me of Tigerstar because they both wanted power over their pride/clan. Scar made a death trap for Simba and Mufasa by having the Hyenas chasing the wilderbeast in the gorge so that he could become king, Mufasa was successfully killed but Simba survived. Tigerstar first wanted to be Deputy so he killed the former Deputy Redtail, then when he didn't find Deputy powerful enough, he wanted to become leader so he first tried to set a death trap for Bluestar on the Thunderpath (road) but failed, instead the medicine cat Cinderpelt (then an Apprentince for a warrior) fell for it instead but suffered from a crippled leg so she would never become a warrior, then during a battle with the rouge cats, he tried to kill Bluestar so he can become leader but Fireheart stops him so he's exiled from the clan, then he finds Shadowclan and gets what he wanted, to be a leader and gets his nine lives. They are the meanest characters alive and all they wanted was power, in order to get that power, they killed members that were the leader/king and then lied that someone else killed them or it was an accident. Basically, they weren't always so mean but because of their history they became evil.

He was just ambitous. And he had a prophecy that literally told that he should've died along with his siblings. Scar was just feeling replaced and unloved. He wanted to become leader so everyone would know of him. Tigerstar only wanted power

This is just about what I've imagined Scar's childhood to be, ever since I saw the first movie. Good to see him getting a little justice (: He's my favourite character from Lion King, always has been, always will be!
years of anger and hate and jealousy boiled inside deep down in scar until it snapped he was rejected by his father and he was hated so much to the point he killed his own father then years later his own brother you really can't blame scar for killing Mufisa after the turmoil he went through as cub. scar was the most powerful villain and out of every other Disney villain scar out dominates them all both in power and in strength

Oh yeah, Taka's early years is a REAL hot topic. With so many scenes and vignettes, the challenge was taking all these pics that had almost NOTHING to do with each other and assemble them into a perfectly coherent story. Glad you like it. :)

I thought this was very well done! I agree, they should make a movie about Scar. Nobody knows what really happened. It would be cool to see what diseney comes up with for the story.

Taka/scar was not always evil he just didn’t get that much love and support form his family at least his mother tried to support taka but it was never enough taka/scar and mufasa used to be best friends until their father ahadi said that mufasa will be king then soon everything changed

It's from Edward Scissorhands. It opens just as Peg drives up to the gates of Vincent Price's mansion. The musical change as Peg first sets eyes on Edward's sculpture garden was absolutely PERFECT for opening with Taka being held in Uru's arms. :)
Very well put together. Elfman's score were synced very nicely with the right pictures. Even the camera movements like zooming and panning really told the story through the pictures very well. A very nice compilation :)

Yes, Taka (which is Swahili for "dirt" or "trash") is the name that they gave Scar in the story "A Tale of Two Brothers". I ditched the original story since it didn't seem dramatic or traumatizing enough to poor little Taka, so I pumped it up a few notches. Glad you like it. :)
Beautiful simply beautiful, I myself am an artist on TLKFAA but my art is not as advanced and sophisticated as these pieces of magnificence. Truly an epic piece.
Needless to say, this sheds a whole new light on Scar's character in the movie. I don't know if I'll ever be able to see him the same way again. :(

Ok a few flaws, the hyenas would be pups the moment they met up with scar.
And zira is a bit to young to just mated with scar. And the prequel books show that she was in with the pride when all of this happened.
Reason why she was in the outlands was because some of the female lions still showed leadership towards scar which made the last movie.
Anyway this is a good theory but without good evidence to fill in those holes you better go and ask the director of the lion king himself.

That was Aikachi. She came up with the interesting idea that Zira's introduction into the Lion King saga is exactly like her demise; drowning in a river. This not only gives Taka a chance to do something brave and heroic, but also gives Zira a reason for being as infatuated with him as she reveals herself to be in TLK2.

The end's one of my favorites too. In the movie we see Sarabi as a generally strong character, but seeing her sobbing her eyes out here... Damn. :S

Track 3, "Castle On the Hill". Peg is driving up to Vincent Price's mansion, and the music where she first sees Edward's sculpture garden is used here when we first see Taka snuggling with his dear, sweet mother (best pic in TLK fanart ANYWHERE!).
The first 2 pics were done by Balaa. That Taka & Uru pic may very well be the BEST piece of fanart ever, imho. The last pic was done by Tandi, which I think is one of her finest pieces as well. :)

actually there was a book written of 'before the lion king' but I can't remember it's name, but judging by the cover art, it was about Scar & Mufasa as Kids, it even had pictures of their parents...

It's the whole favorite son thing; the father treats one son as good as gold and better, while neglecting or just outright abusing the other for not being as good as the better son. :(

I like how so many artists have decided that Zira would have been much younger than Taka. It also makes Zira's character more innocent and thus more easily corruptable, and also gives Taka a slightly more sinister side. Of course Zira never made into the FIRST Lion King. Why? Because of all things, Scar could NOT reveal to the world how he was courting this little girl, could he? *l*
Really, they should make this a movie. :)
I never really knew the backstory. Plus with all the favoritism I'd say he was driven. Still he murdered his brother, I would say that villains who are driven are realistic villains. I mean who likes a character that's just evil to be evil, and why treat your own brother with scorn at the very beginning. When I say beginning I mean the beginning of the first movie. Then you get some scar copycats trying to rewrite/avenge history in the second one.
Don't forget how it captures the pain too. That pic wouldn't be as potent as it is if little Taka wasn't crying.

It is just me or does the story of scar and mafusa remind you of zuko and azula. Like how Zuko's mother favored him and how Azula was more of a daddy's girl. And also how Taka and Zuko both have a scar on the same eye

Taka (which is Swahili for "dirt" or "trash") was Scar's original name, as described in the story "A Tale of Two Brothers" in a Lion King book that Disney released some years ago. I personally like to think that the story that I've concocted is more dramatic and traumatizing to poor little Taka, making him a much more sympathetic character than the movie or the written story ever made him.

With SOOOOOOOOOOO much fanart that's floating around through cyberspace, it's actually pretty easy to fabricate a story like this. This is only MY take on what happened to Taka. Other fan stories are similar to this though, since the idea of Taka getting his scar from Ahadi makes for a MUCH better story than the "official" one that Disney gave us. :P
If I'd gone through all that, I'd be bitter too! I'll never look at Scar/Taka the same again...

I don't know about how much or little damage Taka would get from a water buffalo, but I just can't see such an event as being so traumatizing that Taka would change his name in contrition. The Ahadi storyline is just far more dramatic.
The name Taka is used in the book series "The Lion King: Six New Adventures". Taka's story describes how he got his life-altering scar, but it seems that most fans prefer him getting from his father like I have here. :P

While there is an official backstory in the book "The Lion King: Six New Adventures", my particular story is based more on the popular idea among fans that scar became what he is from his abusive father who constantly doted on Mufasa. Much more dramatic, I think, if Taka starts out loving his brother in the beginning than having him always full of rage, like the official story would dictate.

StarMoon Yeah, you're right! Scar felt like nobody loved him, just like Scourge (tho Scourge was actually deeply loved by his mother Quince) Be wasn't bullied tho. Mufasa was just the chosen one, and I believe their father loved him more than Taka. Btw, I've heard that Taka means trash, and Mufasa means king, kinda. Kinda like how Scourge was first Tiny, because he was the runt. 'Scourge' means something that causes great harm to a lot of living beings, if you didn't know :)

Officially, I don't think there IS any story describing what happened to Uru, but I just always thought that little Taka accidentally killing the only one who ever REALLY loved him with all her heart would be a story point as strong as him getting his scar from Ahadi.
@LEDanimator Taka is Scar. That was his name before his dad hit him ,he changed to to remember what he did wrong..And at the end of the first Lion King movie the little lion cub they show was named Tanabi at first but was later changed to Simba though there are a few famous Fanfiction novels out there that is based of the older lion cub Tanabi.
Taka is Scar's original name, and yes, this song is from the Edward Scissorhands score.

Taka spent his childhood (well, cubhood) seeing very clearly that the only way to gain his father's love, admiration and attention was to be next in line to become king- like Mufasa. Killing Mufasa and Simba was Taka's (aka Scar's) way of finally becoming the lion he wanted to be his entire life. He wanted to be important in his father's eyes. That's what I got out of this anyway...
