History, if you closely at the beginning you see Haileselasie thrown by Durg regime, and a man standing at Lalibela (8 wonder of the world) with The arc of the covenant (which is in Ethiopia for more than 3000 years, it was kept in Lalibela once) then you see the man and the arc disappear at the same time which is actually happened for the rest of the world 2500 years ago. And you will see The Aksum stones that are carved 2000 years ago by the Axumite Empire (which is mysterious)
2. Emperor Haileselasie is Considered as God's Elect in Ethiopia and as God's Incarnated by the Rastafarians. The Emperor have a solomonic dynasty lineage, a dynasty that originated from Queen of Sheba and King Solomon and that lineage lasted when the emperor thrown.
And The Weeknd at the final scene of the mv he turned to the emperor him self which means he is now god and he gets to know everything.

I have some idea but not entirely; so the person you see first is Emperor Haileselasie of Ethiopia with PM Mengistu pointing a gun on the emperor trying to over through the emperor from power then the voice narration in the background is saying the " the king will be kept safe and there is a heaven like resting place that is prepared just for the emperor"(i.e so that the ppl won't rebel against him) except he went and killed the emperor and buried them in his castle under his chair with cruelty, I guess the weeknd is tying to tell you that i know what you did and he is trying to connect it to his own betrayal stories ! that is the general vibe.
