idk if it's just confirmation bias but dodge tanking seems way worse in this game than in 3 Houses. It wasn't even that good in 3H, but I've been hit by so many 10-20% Hit attacks in Engage. Maybe the AI can read the RNG and knows when it will/won't get a lucky hit lmao
Ive heard that Engage uses a system dealing with RN from like either awakening or fates and that true hit rate is different. Could be wrong but dodge tanking can 100% be a bait. In my current maddening run, chloe has been hit on
@@ReyesCh. It wouldn't be from Fates or Awakening, Awakening has the old 2RN system and Fates' unique RN system just increases hit rates above 50%. If hit rates below 50% are being increased in Engage, that would be different from any other FE game. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case though, I had to reset on Chapter 19 because my Yunaka got hit by 3
Ahh that’s really insightful thanks for that! I’m really not to familiar with the RN systems. What I can say from experiences tho is usually if a unit encounters the same unit in battle regardless of reset and %’s, it’ll usually go in the same bs way it went the first way so you gotta either back up or kill the unit with someone else. All from just comments I read tho. Still gonna believe what I read in game tho 🗿
yeah it is different. for below 50% hit rates, they remain the same. so 40% is 40%, 30% is 30% etc. compared to 3H where e.g 40% would actually be 32%, 30% would actually be 18% etc
aaah, how could I forget that feeling, I still remember the first fire emblem where you could miss the attack with 99% and the enemies could hit their attack with 1%... what good memories
I'll be finishing my NORMAL playthrough live on twitch at Twitch.tv/justReyes Then I'll be attempting hard and finally working my way into my very first MADDENING attempt in my history of playing fire emblem. watch me suffer :)
I always play FE with the assumption that every possible hit will connect. Dodging is always a nice surprise when it happens, but relying on it if you have any other choice is setting yourself up for tragedy.
Avoid isn`t worthless. It extend your defense already, but even Avoid Units needs more defense and HP to survive the hits. That means Lance Avoid for a defensive Timerra, when her Damage Output usually low. Her Skill is already RNG and inconsistend. Much more afraid are the support units and the swarming K.I. (Avo igno) 80% +5 real damage per enemies attack and per Support unit in Range. This kills even Avoid monsters like Thief Yunaka with +5 Speed and + 30 Avoid on a avoid field.
And this, kids, is why armored units got such a buff in Engage. Because Dodge tanking is horrifically unreliable in this game, Louis or Jade are pretty much a requirement unless you decide to grind on skirmishes.
While I was grinding Chloe got hit by a 1%. Not a crit. I'm talking a regular hit. Broke her stance and then she proceeded to get whittled down by Backup attackers round after round after round. RNG in this game is straight up awful.
I cant speak much about the series as a whole since I started with awakening, but aside from all my dodgetanks, except yunaka, not doing their job, i still think gameplays solid. But again, im an awakening baby.
remember if it's not 0% it's always 100%
I thought I was leaving those days in Pokemon man... I can't escape. Now that I'm doing maddening... the 1% crits are got me hysterical
1% enemy crits = me sweating
The eldritch horror about this is that its a true 1% 🫠
The amount of iron-mans I've lost in lunatic + awakening to that 1% is insane
Dodge tanks? In MY Fire Emblem 17 Engage? That's a good joke
Dodge tanks are such a bait in this game i stg.
@@ReyesCh.Actually dodgetanks are fucking epic in this game lol
200 avoid strats are easy to do and win the game
@@saltyralts 200 is niche my boi. You know that units can supress your terrain bonuses ?
Hits a 22% hit rate, “Good shot lad.”
Hits a 8% hit rate, “OH Good shot Lad!”
My literal first play through Alear died to a 1% crit from an archer in the second chapter
Same thing happened to me on my maddening run on framme. Safe to say it gave me a good laugh
If it’s under 100% it’s 50%
It’s 0%. Dont be so generous
You know what they say
Damn
x2
If it ain't zero. It ain't a guarantee.
“I love my dodge tank” *takes pills* “where’s my dodge tank?”

Love it. Glad to see Chloe is *truly* not dodging 14s.
Zeez vov gee had much worse luck than this but damn did Lapis get screwed.
The best part about this video was this was on my normal run. My maddening run... has seen some things.
The Fire Emblem special
I finally finished watching Yu-Gi-Oh Sevens, and if there is one thing I learned from that spinoff, is that slim doesn't mean impossible.
aaah, how could I forget that feeling, I still remember the first fire emblem where you could miss the attack with 99% and the enemies could hit their attack with 1%... what good memories
Ah, it came to my mind that one time I tried playing Radiant Dawn... a total myself for a Rookie by that time.
0:14 lol I like the way he yelled 8% 😂
I Hope you didn’t bench Louis and Jade because they were made for this
POV: You play a Fire Emblem game without True Hit.
Yesterday my pandreo died to 2% hit
0:15 it could have been Worse XD

Try to play it slow so it reaches august for the new dlc
Oh just wait until you play Berwick
That’s XCOM babeey
Ive only heard horror stories of xcom from my friends that have played lmao.
Reminss me of me playing arcadia in fe6 yesterday ehrre every single 29% wyvern hit me, making me reset muktiple times
I always play FE with the assumption that every possible hit will connect. Dodging is always a nice surprise when it happens, but relying on it if you have any other choice is setting yourself up for tragedy.
Bro I got hit 4 times by a brave weapon with literally 1% in fire emblem blazing sword
Fear the 1rn
This is why skills that increase avoid is almost worthless.😅
I fear for my life even if my units all had 99% dodge tbh.

Except that like Conquest, most enemies won't attack you if you take 0 damage or if they have 0% hit.
Correction: Dodgetanking is horrifically unreliable in this SERIES.
Get luckier.
Maddening is so unfair.
This was my normal run ☠️
Dodge tank ? We dont talk about that in FE where you get hit twice in 20%
Yeah? 20% is pretty bad odds, mate.
My featherswords in unicorn overlord aint doin me dirty like FE’s are
That shit was so annoying playing through this.
Dodge Tanks haven`t a good life in Engage.
While I was grinding Chloe got hit by a 1%. Not a crit. I'm talking a regular hit. Broke her stance and then she proceeded to get whittled down by Backup attackers round after round after round.
RNG in this game is straight up awful.
Krill issue
This is why I don’t play the Sicilian
Just reload?
Thats not the point
I hate people who downplay maddening, when bs like this happens
This was on my first playthrough. Normal.
@@ReyesCh. I have bad news for you than .....
Ive been playing maddening, if you watch my other videos, you’ll know I know lol
Really disappointed that this "best gameplay in the series" WRONG, decided to bring back one of the worst aspects of Fates gameplay: hybrid RNG.
I cant speak much about the series as a whole since I started with awakening, but aside from all my dodgetanks, except yunaka, not doing their job, i still think gameplays solid. But again, im an awakening baby.
Lmfao i hate the rng in this game. Def the worst part of it imo
This was on my normal run too… chloé’s “dodge tanking” drove me crazy on my maddening run
The skill and bond ring systems are down there too
I know that feeling dude and whats make it worse is the 15% accuracy with 1% crit chance and its gets the crit
I literally popped 4 3-5% crits in chapter 13 so im already waiting for an enemy to 1% me LOL
This game's wack ass math makes fates look a lot more nicer
The maths is exactly as it shows. Engage is one of the few games that doesnt lie about chances below 50%.
It's exactly the same as Fates. In that game 30% hits land more than 40% hits
