I've been playing guitar since the early 80's and I was raised w/ "guitar heroes", but Empuu is of my all time fav's cause he's medodic, great personality and every note he plays is exactly what each song needs. he doesn't play where 60% of the notes dont' matter. Each note matters, and most times that's harder than shredding..
A very melodic unique guitar player, he does what the songs require and thats it, kind of economic player, his phrasing is so pristine and on the spot, what separate Emmpu from the rest is that he has his very own style, sure is combination of many of his influences, but it developed in a unique Emmpu style, he does more with just powerchords than simply random tecnical guitar shredding ( which he can do aswell when he wants) a real joy to hear his powerchord madness within the whole symphonic Nightwish's trademark stuff .

As a straight hetero-normitive man, I can safely say the Emppu smiling at his fans is one of the most beautiful things to exist in nature. I wish I could get 10 minutes to talk with him. 🙂
at the moment, I've got an Ibanez guitar with a edge zero II tremolo, which is easy to retune, also your local guitar shop can help you with retuning the floyd rose :)

You have an easy task. Emppu is a fine accompanier (or rhythm guitarist), but as a solist, he has very low-key creativity and modest technic. Emppu is much more than a guitarist. He is so important for Nightwish. Pure joy to watch.
He's epicly tight. That a hell of a skill for any guitar player to play so tight and to the point. No noise, no useless notes. Just continuous flow.

The things you have to concern is that band he plays in Duh,,, its have to be perfection every time , and hes the Guy,,PERFECTION
For me his solos are a bit too simple but comping and riffs works extreme well. He is a pro no doubt.

Emppu is not the rhythm guitarists, but his lead riffs are awesome as hell.

He is a great, melodic player. Not the best for sure, but a great one, still.
