    This video helped a frustrated dad give his son better care. Sincerely, thanks!

    This video is just so excellent and really clear. I don't know why the physicians in my world don't address this stuff in this way. It's really what I've been looking for ever since my surgery of about 6 months ago.

    This is a really important topic that I had yet to see described clearly anywhere. Thank you for making this video; I'm glad I ran into it. Haven't finished listening to it yet but just wanted to say that. Many of these doctors don't seem to be concerned about nutrition!

    I can't wait to get to the part about hydration. I wonder about this, because sometimes I don't drink as much water as I used to because I don't want the stool to be all liquidy in my colostomy output. But my skin really loves hydration and I used to try to drink a lot of water. Lots and lots of water is just supposed to be really good for you. So it's confusing to me now. Fiber also: it used to be so important to my digestion. If I'd gotten enough of it, this may not have even happened. And now they say not to take lots of fiber. And yeah I don't know it's confusing. Isn't fiber important for your blood vessels also? Getting rid of cholesterol and all that? Okay I'll stop this excess writing now.

    🤔👀 I have found out that if you saute your vegetables onions garlic Bell pepper peppers saute them down to Al dente just enough to release the gases and you're fine you can enjoy that nutrient do not overcook them or boil them allow them to steam more nutrient value if you steam them but never for too long just enough to release the gases and you're good to go and more energy yes ❤️😘✨😀

      @clinicalnutritionuniversity  Před 4 měsíci

      Hey Jim! Thank you for watching. I’m a dietitian, not a doctor. So, I try to limit my discussions to nutrition therapy. Imodium is a medication, which I do my best to avoid as it would be outside my scope of practice.

    Wait why is fatty tough meats part of that?

    • @clinicalnutritionuniversity
      @clinicalnutritionuniversity  Před rokem +1

      Many of my patients find that high fat foods - particularly fatty meats and fried foods - increase their output. Tough meats are specified because they are more difficult to break down into small pieces and are therefore more likely to contribute to the clogging of an ileostomy.

    The upside of ileostomy is that there’s almost no odor. Fermentation and bacterial growth happens in the colon, not the ileum.

    Who are you, and who gave you this voice that is so firm yet blasé, as if you were oh so bored or tired but you would get through this thing for the sake of humanity? It's an excellent, helpful video, but almost comical, this voice. But it makes it more fun to listen to.

      @@clinicalnutritionuniversity Hello, hi. I'm sorry. I didn't mean that the way it sounded at all. Also sorry that it's taking me so long to respond; I'm really busy with bunches of life disasters and I'm still busy. Especially in the morning I really shouldn't go on CZcams or on the internet at all but I keep doing it. And so that thing that I wrote, I was just in a hurry and I was - first of all I know you took it wrong but it's not your fault because rereading it I see what it sounds like and everyone will hear the same thing. But that is not how I meant it. But I don't even have time to explain it now either! But I will get back to it later tonight. But I have like 20 other letters I am writing to other people. I have to write a letter to Social Security because I can't get Medicare right now; I have issues going on with my family and some other things and I'm extremely isolated so doing this is not a good thing for me. It's sort of a vicious cycle. You know, people need other living breathing humans in their life. Well anyhow though. Okay this is unconcise and not organized but I had just writing down my initial reaction hearsay. As I said I'm very isolated there's no one to talk to to say anything to. Also so I wrote that down really quickly and I knew it was a mess and I was going to go back and change it, edit it, because I was pretty sure it was not coming across in any sensible way. But when I looked again you had already seen it! I wasn't expecting it to be noticed so quickly. And yes, some things should just remain unsaid. Sir, I was just struck when I started looking at the video by the tone of your voice. But that doesn't sound right! Because the expression tone of voice is reminiscent of when one's mother says don't speak to me in that tone of voice young man or young woman. But I don't know what the right word is! First of all you have a very very nice voice. And the video and the things you say are very clear and extremely helpful as I said in my second comment, which you also very very kindly acknowledged. And I really like the pace at which you spoke; you are correct in realizing that often, speakers go to fast- especially younger speakers- I've done it myself. And it's hard to understand. And it was amazing that you actually put in a qualification that people could try speeding up their playback by one quarter if they wanted it to go faster. I don't know if you literally slowed down your voice after recording it or whatever but it doesn't matter. To me it sounds fine just the way it is. And when I said "who gave you that voice", that was the part that sounded like I was scolding but I was just saying like this gift sort of I mean I didn't mean like who gave you the right to talk in some weird way. It just came out all wrong. I was just letting it all hang out as they used to say in my time. Here's the thing that struck me so that I made my idle and unnecessary comment. It was the downbeat at the end of every sentence. Maybe you've heard of up talk where people end every sentence in a tone that goes upwards so that it sounds like they're asking a question at the end of every sentence instead of just making a statement. Well yours is sort of the opposite. It's nothing. Especially, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or anyone's feelings. That's like being what they call a grammar Nazi: it is poor etiquette for the internet and social media. My bad. Still: it just struck me. To me, it sounded like if someone was an actor and they were trying to play a very bored, brilliant Ivy league student who had to make this speech and really wanted to be out playing Lacrosse. And I'm interested a lot in accents, speech, languages. First of all, I'm not anybody, so I'm surprised that you would take any anonymous comment to heart. But then again, I've been quite upset myself at things people have written in comments to me - many years ago- in a CZcams comment section. Some people can be really really mean and abusive, and even though you don't know them and it's just some stupid thing and you know that they don't know you and so on, it's still hurts, strangely enough. So yeah okay. I'm just talking to this talk to text function because I can't type on this thing. I think I will just stay off of comments because it ends up just sucking up way too much time. Unless I have something either really funny and clever or just simple and nice or really useful and informative, I'll just keep my mouth shut and my fingers off this. I shouldn't even be on CZcams at all maybe I'll disable the app. Your speech is excellent. I don't know about the down tones at the end of your sentences. I don't know if anyone else on the planet even noticed it. It's nothing you need to worry about, I am sure. Again, your video your video is excellent. It's beautiful and it's even more beautiful now that I've learned how hard you worked on it! That is a selfless act and makes it's excellence even more remarkable. I mean it! I'm just going to delete my original remark and this stupid response to your response. But I hope I've cleared this up in my terribly sloppy and way too lengthy way. As Mark Twain said or somebody said, if I had more time I would have written a shorter CZcams comment. Thank you for your good work. I like your voice. You have a marvelous speaking voice. I can't help it if you sound to me like a bored Yale student. That was only for the first minute anyhow or even half a minute. I apologize again. And don't take comments to heart! Bye. Let me just be clear again. It's an excellent video, you narrated with superb clarity and intelligence and caring, and it's essentially perfect. Thank you for the video, for your generous work, and I look forward to listening to the rest of it which I still haven't had time to do. Okay bye!
